When you were a teenager, you had been in an accident that resulted in you gaining superpowers. It wasn’t something you ever thought possible to happen to you, very few people in the world known to have powers. You had tried to keep it a secret, not ready to be given the responsibility of being a hero but it wasn’t long before you had to use your powers, letting everyone know that you weren’t the normal teenager that everyone had believed you were. Some people thought it was cool to be a superhero, but they didn’t really understand it and for the most part everyone feared you. Your parents kicked you out, and even your school dismissed you, for fear of you hurting their other students. You became an outsider and for years you were alone without anyone that cared or understood, not until you met Diana.

More heroes were getting known around the world, and you had been aware of Wonder Woman, but you never thought you’d meet her. She happened to be in town when you were fighting crime and together you saved the day. She was the first person who understood what you were going through, understood what the responsibility on your shoulders felt like. For the first time ever, you felt like you belonged.

The two of you became quick friends and she helped you adapt to being a real hero, how to use your powers for good and how to weigh up the stress of fighting crime and having a normal life. She gave you everything you had needed since you first got your powers.

You headed to her office with the best bouquet of flowers that you could find. You struggled to open the door and carry the vase, but you managed to get into the room. Diana looked up from her computer, cocking an eyebrow at you.

“Y/N?” She questioned.

“Hi Diana,” you smiled, placing the vase on her table, although the flowers overwhelmed everything else on the desk. “I got you some flowers.”

“What are these for?” She asked. “They are beautiful.”

You bit your lip, worried about how to tell her about the gratitude that you had for her.

“You have done so much for me,” you smiled softly. “I never thought that I could be accepted anywhere but you have provided me a safe place and I am beyond grateful that you have been there for me when I have needed someone.”

Diana’s fingers toyed with the petals of one of the flowers, before smiling up at you.

“You have no reason to thank me. Everyone deserves kindness but the fear of the unknown seems to control people. It shall be okay though; people’s eyes are opening now to see one another for who they are without the fear of who they are.”

“I know the world is getting better but I am still grateful to have you there for me when I had no one else.”

Growing up, you never imagined that you would be the villain in life, but love forced you to do the wildest things. You had fallen in love with a man that went by the name The Joker, which should have been your first warning sign but you overlooked the weird name and appearance because your heart told you so. You agreed to do terrible things and be an evil sidekick as it was for the man you loved, and you believed that he would do anything for you. Everyone knew about the two of you in Gotham and it seemed that you would stay side by side forever but when you were caught by the police, he easily dismissed you and moved onto another sad girl that felt like she needed a man.

At the time it felt as though your life was over, losing the man you loved and your freedom, you didn’t know how to cope but soon your life turned around and things ended up better for you. The Joker now had a new girlfriend Harley, and you had managed to go back to school and become a registered nurse, granted with a bit of working around. You loved being able to make up for the damage you did and trying to offer some good back into the world.

You now had a job and a house and everything seemed to be perfect, but you should have known that nothing could be that simple as when your door knocked, you never expected to see Harley, The Joker’s new girlfriend on your doorstep.

Her intense eye makeup was smeared and running with her tears and she looked a bit of a mess compared to what you had seen her looking like normally.

“You’re Y/N/N,” she stated using the old nickname that the Joker had once used for you, sniffling to try and fight her tears.

“What’s it to you?”

“I need your help,” she whispered. “I know you don’t want me here, but I don’t know who else to turn to.”

She was in quite a state and you couldn’t help but feel bad. Going against your better judgement, you let her into your house, leading her to the living room to sit down with her.

“Pudding left me,” she croaked. “I don’t know what to do without him.”

“The Joker?” You asked.

Harley nodded her head. “How did you handle it when he left you?”

You let out a chuckle, thinking back to the atrocious breakup that you had experienced years before.

“Well I was in a prison at the time, where he left me. I made a bit of a fool of myself assuring everyone in there that my man was going to come and get me. He sent one of his goons to tell me about you, not long after. I took my anger out on other inmate and guards and then cried a lot. I was put on a lot of medications to help my breakdown, but I talked with a therapist and friends I made on the inside and realised the truth of the Joker.”

She cocked an eyebrow at you. “What’s the truth?”

You shrugged your shoulders. You couldn’t understand the man fully, no one could. He was a complex mess of a human, but you didn’t need to waste your time on him anymore.

“He will never be capable of love. I know it feels like you are his world and he really is yours, but he doesn’t care about you, only what you can offer him,” you stated. “And it’s important to realise you have a future without him and believe me it will be better than any life you had with him.”

She looked completely confused with your words. “But it feels like everything is over. What am I meant to be without him?”

“Harley freaking Quinn,” you said with conviction. “You are a strong woman, if you’ve put up with his crap this long, then you must be. It may feel like the end but this is your beginning.”

Harley took a moment thinking it over before nodding and offering you a gentle smile.

“And it is going to be an amazing beginning.”

Request: Wattpad- “Goodbye” Kiss

Word Count: 426

Author: Charlotte

“Are you sure Diana?” You questioned, apprehensive of her fate and decision she made.

“I am positive. No one could create such pain in war other than Ares himself,” she explained.

You trusted Diana with all of your heart, you knew that if she believed something then she was going to fight for it and do everything in her power to make it right. Having been told stories of Ares as she grew, she had now decided it was her place to fight him and save mankind from his influence. Without any knowledge of where he would be, anything beyond what the stories had once told her, but her heart was too large to let the pain of the world continue.

Diana had planned to leave Themyscira with the man whom had crashed off the shore and he would guide her to where she needed to go to defeat Ares. You didn’t trust the man but if Diana did, then you would give him the benefit of the doubt. Even though you knew she was doing what was right and what she felt she needed, you didn’t want her to leave. Not only could she die, you simply did not want to be apart from the woman you had grown to love, especially knowing where she would be headed and the fact that she may not return.

“What if I never see you again?” You whispered, grasping her hand to your heart.

She offered you a gentle, reassuring smile. “I will return to you, as long as my heart still beats against my breast, I shall make my way back to you. Do not doubt that.”

“And what if it shall stop?” You asked. “What if you ended up killed?”

“Worry not of those matters. Just know I shall forever be within your heart even if I am across the ocean.”

You took in a deep breath, not knowing if this would be the last time you would have Diana by your side.

“I shall miss you dearly until you return to our shores,” you commented. “And I know you will return to our shores.”

Diana smiled at you fondly before kissing you passionately, knowing this may be the last kiss to be shared between you.

“I love you Y/N but I must leave now or we shall never get away without my mother trying to stop us,” she said apologetically.

“I love you so much Diana,” you whispered.

She trailed away until your fingers were forced to separate as she headed from the room.

“Goodbye.”

64. “I can’t do this anymore.. not with you.”

42. “It’s midnight! Where the hell were you?

Alfred watched quietly as Master Bruce puttered around the kitchen, fingers tapping and touching nearly everything without settling. They both knew he was just stalling time until he had no choice but to face the music upstairs. He ran his fingers across the toaster one last time before sighing, turning around to face his friend.

“I suppose I should go tell her I’m back.” He leaned against the spotless marble counter-top and drummed his fingers mindlessly against it. Alfred merely fixed him with a knowing look and nodded slightly. Bruce gave one final tap to the edge and bid him good night.

He opened the bedroom door almost silently, only to be greeted by a scowl as you switched on the light. You were curled up in his desk chair on the farthest side of the room. He knew you’d been up for a while thanks to the nearly empty mug of tea in your hands. The two of you studied one another for a brief moment- him taking note of the way your hair curled around your face and how well you filled out his shirt that you had stolen for bed, you feeling bad over his exhausted expression yet getting angrier as you realized he also looked just as guilty as you knew he had to be.

It’s midnight.” You were the first to break the silence. “Where the hell were you?

Bruce sighed and ruffled his hair, turning from you and beginning to undress for bed.

“I had business to attend to, you kn-”

“Business? At this hour?” You nearly laughed at the pathetic excuse. “Do you think I’m that stupid?”

He turned around and fixed you with a patronizing look that made you feel like a kid again.“Of course I don’t think you’re stupid. It’s just- It’s complicated, okay?”

“Everything with you is complicated, Bruce. Women who date you should be offered a manual upon first contact.” You quickly swallowed the remaining dregs of your cold tea before setting it down and moving to your boyfriend.

Bruce relaxed the moment your hands met his back, sliding around from behind to help unbutton his shirt and pull it away from his shoulders. You went to push up his undershirt as well but he gripped your hands and gently pulled them away. If you saw the bruises spreading across his ribs, courtesy of Penguin, he knew he wouldn’t be able to dodge your questions.

You stood there for a moment, staring at his back in confusion as he gripped your wrists tight enough to keep you still. The anger that had ebbed away when you touched him came rushing back full force, accompanied by hot angry tears that refused to fall.

He was surprised but complied when you yanked yourself away from him and walked over to your side of the bed. You yanked off his shirt so you could put on your own clothes- the shimmery dress that had gotten you many compliments just hours ago at the gala.

“Babe, what are you-”

“No.” That’s all you said as you clipped your bra into place and began shimmying into the tight little number. He was quiet for a moment, so you continued. “No. You need to tell me right now what’s going on. I don’t think you’re a cheater, Bruce, even though that’s exactly what this looks like. But you’re lying to me about something. I don’t want to spend my whole life in the dark, so you need to clear it up rightnow.”

He made a move to help you zip up out of habit, but you gracefully dodged him and squirmed around until you managed to get it yourself. You stood there, shoes in hand, waiting for him to say anything.

For just a moment, Bruce actually considered telling you. You’d stuck around longer than anyone else. You’d seen and heard plenty of weird, living in Gotham your whole life. The trust he had in you was unshakable, and that was amazing on its own. What’s the worst that could happen?

But then he pictured you battered and broken, surrounded by the Penguin’s henchmen. He watched the Riddler dangle you over a vat of acid as he threw random bat trivia at him. The worst was when he watched the Joker bring his crowbar down on you over and over again, blood flying into the air as you tried to scream in pain but all you could do was laugh hysterically thanks to the gas.

“Bruce…” Your voice brought him out of his reverie, your lovely, musical voice. You stared at him, willing your tears to stay back a little bit longer. “I can’t do this anymore with you, do you understand?”

After a moment of silence, all he could say was, “I’m sorry.”

You couldn’t help but stare at him with wide eyes. Unbelievable. He couldn’t be honest with you, after all this time. Closing your mouth and squaring your shoulders, you slipped your heels onto your feet and strode past him to the door. You picked your purse and coat up off the floor, but not before sparing him one last glance. He looked much older and frail in that moment, and you actually felt a great swell of pity for him.

“Good bye, Mr. Wayne. I hope you find whatever you’re looking for.” With that you walked away from him.
