When you were a teenager, you had been in an accident that resulted in you gaining superpowers. It wasn’t something you ever thought possible to happen to you, very few people in the world known to have powers. You had tried to keep it a secret, not ready to be given the responsibility of being a hero but it wasn’t long before you had to use your powers, letting everyone know that you weren’t the normal teenager that everyone had believed you were. Some people thought it was cool to be a superhero, but they didn’t really understand it and for the most part everyone feared you. Your parents kicked you out, and even your school dismissed you, for fear of you hurting their other students. You became an outsider and for years you were alone without anyone that cared or understood, not until you met Diana.
More heroes were getting known around the world, and you had been aware of Wonder Woman, but you never thought you’d meet her. She happened to be in town when you were fighting crime and together you saved the day. She was the first person who understood what you were going through, understood what the responsibility on your shoulders felt like. For the first time ever, you felt like you belonged.
The two of you became quick friends and she helped you adapt to being a real hero, how to use your powers for good and how to weigh up the stress of fighting crime and having a normal life. She gave you everything you had needed since you first got your powers.
You headed to her office with the best bouquet of flowers that you could find. You struggled to open the door and carry the vase, but you managed to get into the room. Diana looked up from her computer, cocking an eyebrow at you.
“Y/N?” She questioned.
“Hi Diana,” you smiled, placing the vase on her table, although the flowers overwhelmed everything else on the desk. “I got you some flowers.”
“What are these for?” She asked. “They are beautiful.”
You bit your lip, worried about how to tell her about the gratitude that you had for her.
“You have done so much for me,” you smiled softly. “I never thought that I could be accepted anywhere but you have provided me a safe place and I am beyond grateful that you have been there for me when I have needed someone.”
Diana’s fingers toyed with the petals of one of the flowers, before smiling up at you.
“You have no reason to thank me. Everyone deserves kindness but the fear of the unknown seems to control people. It shall be okay though; people’s eyes are opening now to see one another for who they are without the fear of who they are.”
“I know the world is getting better but I am still grateful to have you there for me when I had no one else.”

The supremely eccentric house built by Kamil Gök of Dereköy village, Bodrum, Turkey.
Kamil Gök built this structure, and also ran a store on the bottom floor before he passed away. In old age, he had discovered the artistic side of his personality, and built numerous fountains, small monuments and busts. He liked forming structures with simple materials, alternating between painted surfaces and sculpted reliefs in their decoration. These works were located mostly in Kamil Gök’s immediate neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, his son tore down this building while Kamil Gök was still alive. A modern house stands in its place instead.

“Born in 1899 in rural Garden Valley, Idaho—only nine years after that frontier territory was admitted to the Union—James Castle mined the local landscape of his family’s homesteads and mapped his deeply private domestic world to produce a remarkable body of drawings, collages, and constructions. Deaf since birth, he never learned to sign, read, or write in a conventional manner, but instead communicated through his art. Over the course of a life lived on his family’s three successive farms, he amassed thousands of works on and in paper—his parents’ role as postmasters likely providing many of his supplies, as he used scraps of printed matter and packaging materials for use as surfaces, collage elements, and source material. The bulk of Castle’s work can be classified as drawings, rendered in his preferred medium of stove-soot and saliva applied with a sharpened stick as stylus. Known initially for his expressionistic representational landscapes and interiors, Castle has come to be recognized in recent years for the full breadth of his work, which encompasses an important body of abstract drawings, color meditations, loosely representational constructions, collages, and text drawings. Working exclusively with humble materials and always in an intimate scale, Castle created complex reconfigurations, dissections, and inventions of typeface in his text appropriation drawings and collages. He garnered some local acclaim during his lifetime (including 1963 and 1976 exhibitions at the Boise Gallery of Art) but only achieved international recognition decades after his death in 1977. In 2011, the Museo Reina Sofia held the first international retrospective of Castle’s work.”

“The tremendous creative outpourings of the mediumistic artist Madge Gill began after her only daughter died at birth in 1919 and a subsequent illness during which she lost the sight in one eye. Her early life had been no less traumatic. Born in london to an unmarried mother, at the age of nine she was placed in an orphanage and subsequently sent to Canada as a farm servant.Gill returned to london when she was nineteen and before her marriage lived with an aunt, who introduced her Spiritualism. Gill’s discovery of drawing was a direct result of attempts to contact her daughter and one of her sons, who had died during the influenza epidemic of 1918, the other side. She maintained that she was guided by a spirit she called Myrninerest and often signed works in that name. Her oeuvre ranges from postcards, produced after another in all-night sittings, to drawings covering immense rolls of calico, which she finished incrementally, earlier parts of the drawing becoming hidden as the fabric was rolled to reveal a new blank surface. At times Gill exhibited work at amateur art exhibitions in the East End of london, but rarely sold her creations, insisting that the belonged to her spirit guide.”

“Martín Ramírez (1895–1963) created nearly 300 drawings of remarkable visual clarity and expressive power within the confines of DeWitt State Hospital in northern California, where he resided the last 15 years of his life. Ramírez has been codified primarily as a “schizophrenic artist”; this project goes beyond the boundaries of Ramirez’s diagnosis of mental illness and considers the artistic quality and merit of his artwork. In this way, Ramirez’s works are understood—and appreciated—for the complex, multilayered drawings that they are. “Martin Ramirez,” the first major retrospective of the self-taught master in more than 20 years, features approximately 97 works on paper and is accompanied by a full-color catalog.”
