You know why Aryan being casted as Grover is such a big thing for desi folks
That’s because we finally have a desi character who isn’t depicted as the perfect child.
Desi characters in shows are heavily stereotyped with the whole thing of being overachievers, always known as the smart but annoying kid, the academically strong but physically weak. Who’s constantly trying to be the perfect 24/7.
But Grover? No, he isn’t perfect. He made mistakes, he can be clumsy, he’s not an overachiever, and he definitely might not know a thing about calculus. He’s funny and a lil goofy, And he definitely isn’t weak.
And that’s great! That’s really great. People will learn and know. Desi kids won’t have to constantly try to fit in to this weird crappy persona that some shows created for the sake of comedic relief disguising it as “representation”
