Reading Midnight Sun has only solidified my stance that Richelle Mead needs to release the books from Dimitiri’s point of view. First of all, Dimitri is such a strong person, seeing things through his perspective would be so interesting. Second, my heart would burst to hear him gushing about Rose.

You were cuddled up into Dimitri’s side when you regained consciousness after your deep slumber. Your head was laying on his chest while your hand laid on his chest. He was still sleeping, breathing softly with a smile on his lips.
The sun began to shine through the curtains. Knowing that would soon wake him up, one of your hands caresses his right cheek while you kiss his left cheek. His brows furrow together, a sign that he’s waking up. You peck his jawline next. And then kiss all the way to his lips. You press your lips to his and before you know it, you’re pinned under him while he fiercely returns your kiss.
“Morning, love,” he says in his morning voice as he makes himself comfortable on your chest.
“Morning, Dimi,” you whisper.
Both of you don’t move for a couple of hours. Neither of you are in a hurry to start your day.

if they don’t play up the cowboy thing for dimitri in the VA show i riot. its like the funniest possible character detail for an early 2000s ya love interest to have like he doesn’t even do the stereotypical brooding stuff this guy is 6'7 and walks around in his cowboy duster and listens to cowboy music and reads his cowboy books (even as a strigoi????) and somehow this makes rose go omg
petition to make dimitri 19 years old in the show pls. the age gap is already problematic and ppl who haven’t read the books before will hate it and the show will be criticised for it and young teenage girls watching the show won’t question the attention they get from older guys. also dimitri being 19 and an absolute POWERHOUSE will make him even more cool and impressive
As someone who wrote the entire series (as a fanfic) from Dimitri’s Point of View, I totally support this. I’d might be okay making him 20 at most, but normalizing relationship with large age gaps for teenage girls is dangerous, especially when one person is in a position of power over the other. Yes, Dimitri isnt technically Rose’s teacher, but as a mentor, he does hold some responsibility for her education. Because of that, their relationship needs to be handled with care.
Here are some of my thoughts on making Dimitri more age appropriate for their relationship but still keep him the total badass that we know and love by the time we meet him.
Dimitri graduates top of his class, having already gained the attention of Court during his schooling. We already have canon showing him getting additional mentoring and touring Court during his last couple of years of school. Perhaps the series introduces the idea of him taking trials to become part of the Queen’s Guard. He gets an official invitation at graduation, and he turns it down to become become his best friend’s personal guardian instead.
He is a completely dedicated guardian. It’s Ivan, after all. He can’t let his best friend down. But then the unthinkable happens.
Guardian Hans Croft, who has been watching Dimitri’s career with great interest since he offered him a position at Court, refuses to let Dimitri succumb to mental anguish and immediately informs him of an issue they are having with the missing Dragomir Princess. He asks him to lead one of several task forces trying to locate her and her friend.
His team is the one that find her, and they do so quite quickly and quite impressively. Because of that, he is encouraged to continue as her guardian at St. Vlads and thus begins our journey.
