Divination Tools - What Are They? Are They Right For Me?
Lots of people are nervous to get started with divination because they don’t know what tool to use. They feel that divination may not be for them, or that they are not gifted enough to be a diviner. There are multiple tools and forms of divination, and it can be very overwhelming when it comes to choosing what would be best for you. This being said, this is a small guide to help you choose which type of tool for you.
Disclaimer: Know that this is my view, and it is completely fine to not agree with what I am saying in this guide. Know that this is just that - a guide. This is not a rulebook. Do what suits you- but I do hope that this helps someone who may be completely new to divination- or a form of it.
Rune Art:
Chris Stratton - Old Earthen Runes
These images show 25 rune divination cards created by Chris StrattonentitledThe Old Earthen Runes published by MPC (Make Playing Cards.) They show runes of the Elder Futhark plus a twenty-fifth card Yr with unique artwork and brief statements regards correspondences when reading the card from either way round. The images shown were sourced from MPC as samples pre-purchase.
The deck was accompanied by the following statement:
“The oldest magical symbols of Germanic peoples give us a deep insight into the cosmos and secrets of the human psyche. Isatlen Gray Ref (Chris Stratton), the creator of these cards, has allowed us, using his oracle deck, to directly access our intuition and our subconscious, and thus to understand our own actions.”
I’ve been wanting to add a 5th deck choice to my shop and I am torn between these two.
I think the Silver Witchcraft is beautiful, but it’s imagery is based on the RWS, and so is the Universal deck, so I worry that they are too similar to each other, that it would not make sense to offer both as choices.
I know the Deviant Moon can be a little off-putting but I love the designs, I love looking at it, I really love this deck, and I want to work with it more, I think it has a lot to offer people, but I worry that the “darker” designs may be off-putting to clients.

I’ve gone ahead and made a poll, here.
