It’s perfectly alright, imo, to take your time with commissions. Most of your commissioners will probably understand that and be prepared for it: After all, people are generally aware that most of you do commissions on top of a day job, are struggling with real life issues or simply took on a lot of commissions to begin with. And people want their commissions to turn out nice and not rushed, so most are entirely willing to wait quite a while.
What’s not so great: If you give zero signs of life after taking on those commissions. Communication is key.
You don’t have to give daily updates, not even weekly, as far as I’m concerned. But if you take commissions and then just simply turn inactive for months with one little status update at the most thrown in and then going back to silence? That’s not good. Especially if you have a payment-up-front policy, and even more so if you have fairly high prices. Because getting paid that money (and maybe even directly spending that money for all to see on your social media sites) and never comunicating with the people who gave you that money? That will make even the most good-natured commissioner leery after several months of radio silence on your part.
Are there entitled people who are pushy and rude about commissions? Absolutely. Those aren’t the people I’m talking about here. I’m talking about the pleasant, patient people, who spend money on art, money they often have to save up themselves, and who deserve at least a few small updates on what’s happening with the thing they paid you for.
I’m not telling you to work faster, nor am I saying that you are frauds who try to scam people. Most people who wonder about those commissions they paid for don’t think that, either. I’m just urging you to communicate. For everyone’s sake.

Everything is canon through Big Bang Job. The team arrive in San Lorenzo ready to hunt down Moreau, and track down his location…. only to bump into Quinn walking out of there cleaning blood off his hands. “Oh, were you looking for him? Oops. Sorry, he’s unavailable now.”
It’s just a completely unrelated job to kill Moreau he just finished (hired by a competitor or another old enemy who doesn’t care about taking him down legally; a big risk job but Quinn loves those). He didn’t even know they were involved at all. Eliot wouldn’t be anywhere they think Moreau is, so either he tracks him down later that day or the rest of the team basically gather him up to discuss this. And he’s just kinda bemused and goes with it.
Either way, Eliot gets the rundown over comms so he knows that Moreau is no more and Quinn did the deed. When he shows up, he is walking straight for Quinn with a very serious face and very purposeful stride. Either Quinn legit didn’t bother to remember anyone in Leverage other than Eliot so he doesn’t realize he would be here, or he just had a brain fart moment and didn’t consider the link until now. Anyway, seeing him come in like this Quinn remembers, “ oh right, Eliot Spencer used to work with Moreau. That was in my Eliot Spencer research. Dammit, now Eliot Spencer has extra reason to want revenge on me.”
It’s really sad for him because now his hitter crush hates him and this was gonna be a really good day but now he has to defend himself from a vengeful Eliot Spencer, dammit -
He readies himself, tries to remind Eliot that, “hey, it was just business, sorry if y-” but then Eliot cuts him off by kissing him directly on the mouth.
(he swoons a little and just goes with it.)
(they still save the election or whatever as long as they’re already there, but Sophie and Nate are not the only ones who get down in San Lorenzo in this verse.)
The truth is most people think being disabled is a death sentence but instead of advocating for disabled people they r convinced that they’ll never become disabled as if being disabled is some biblical punishment. Guess what? Accidents happen. You will get old and your body will stop working like it used to. Imagine if we live in a world where disability is seen as normal. Where we actually take care of each other.
Also I don’t think we have as many abled body people in the world as we think. I think many people are so terrified of being disabled that they r willing overwork themselves to prove they can do it. Many people deal with chronic pain and physical health issues in silence. Because they don’t want to be burden. I think we should be burden to each other and i think labor should be shared.
so like. obviously it’s an immensely tragic route to take but sometimes it’s just so satisfying for a story to go “there’s no happy ending this time. resistance isfutile in this scenario. the ‘good guys’ can’t win. this is a pointless last stand. so for their final act, our beloved characters are going to rock the antagonist’s shit so fucking hard it makes you stare at a wall struggling to process what just happened and how you feel about it for hours afterwards.”
i simply think that sometimes it’s the best possible narrative decision to allow characters to become supernovas, imploding on themselves but taking as much with them as possible. “you can’t save anyone” “maybe not, but i canhurt you”. fuck yes. if you can’t beat them, tear them apart.
