“Karl… I’ve been waiting so long to meet you.“

Tales from the SMP: The Maze

Cast: Karl Jacobs, Quackity, Sapnap, George, Dream, Tubbo, BBH, Punz, Technoblade, Jack Manifold, Foolish, Slimecicle

  • The stream starts off with Karl, Tubbo, Technoblade, Quackity, Sapnap, George, BBH, Foolish, and Punz in a large clearing surrounded by a tall wall, with no memory of how they got there.
  • On a TV screen, a video plays. Slimecicle, the host, tells them that the maze is full of puzzles and challenges, and it’s their job to make it through to the end to become the champion. They are highly advised to not be in the labyrinth after the sun sets.
  • Throughout the next puzzles, BBH, Tubbo, Punz, Quackity, Sapnap and Foolish die. Sapnap and Quackity are revived. Later, Punz reappears alive, then dies and is revived over and over throughout the rest of the puzzle. Slimecicle says that Punz isn’t really alive.
  • At the next puzzle (in an Egyptian-inspired area), Slimecicle seems genuinely surprised that there are so many of them left. He further urges them to hurry before the sun goes down, seeming frantic.
  • The next part of the labyrinth is reminiscent of the Inbetween, the end of the labyrinth being met with the Inbetween castle. Slimecicle tells them that someone needs to die willingly– to flip the center switch and fall to their death. Quackity offers himself and falls to his death.
  • The final TV, in a small room with a hole in the center. Slimecicle congratulates them, but can’t let them go home– they didn’t beat the maze, only made it to the end. Hostile, he tells them that there was an exit the whole time, but they were too focused on running the “rat race” to search for it. He says they will go back to the beginning and so will he, doing this over and over until something breaks.
  • They jump through the hole in the floor and end up in the clearing from the beginning, where they see themselves. The TV plays, where Slimecicle speaks to them one last time, welcoming them to the “Labyrinth of Ceaseless Agony”.
  • Karl wakes up in “Dream XD World”, a beautiful island seemingly floating in the galaxy, where massive clock ticks. Clouds line the area with golden cogs. There are two portals on either side, one to the Inbetween and one the Otherside.
  • He is met with Dream XD, who says it is nice to finally meet him and introduces himself as “God”. He’s been watching Karl for a while, as he is the one who made him a time traveller.
    • He mentions that the last person who was a time traveller forgot that he was and so he needed to “get rid of him”.
  • There are two demi-gods in both worlds, called the Overseers. Whenever he goes there while time travelling, Karl will need to pick between the Inbetween and the Otherside. Both will have consequences, but tonight he can travel to both. Karl goes through to the Otherside, as he doesn’t trust the Inbetween. In the Otherside, Karl meet the Overseer in the castle (played by Jack Manifold, but is canonically a different character).
  • The Overseer is glad to finally meet him. He tells him that the whole place was created from Karl’s memories. A hallway leads to the Village That Went Mad, with the characters wandering about aimlessly. Every time he is there, his memories will allow the places to become stronger until they become real places and real people. He will eventually be able to speak with them and learn what went wrong and how he can change it in the future. He feels an obligation to give them a happier ending, though they aren’t exactly the people he met in the past.
  • He expects to find more places, but his memories are not strong enough yet. The Overseer urges him to spend more time there to make it stronger, and not go home like he wants to. He believes that Karl’s place is the past and the future, not the present.
  • Karl leaves anyway– there are people who are relying on them back in Kinoko Kingdom.
  • Back in Dream XD World, he runs over to the portal to the Inbetween. He meets the Overseer (also played by Jack), who was the person talking to him through the books. He doesn’t know anything about Karl being chased out last time, and tells him that he shouldn’t be going to the Otherside and that he belongs there. He wants to teach Karl how he can control his ability to time travel if he stays. He tells him that his life is in the present, not the past or future. The longer he is there, the more he can help him and thus the people in his present. He basically tells Karl everything that he wants to hear.
  • Back in the present, he appears in his library. He places the photo of “The Maze” on his wall. In his diary entry, he expresses his confusion and stress about what the right decision is, leaning slightly towards the Inbetween.

i’m so hyped for tales from the smp s2!! i’ll be posting a really detailed recap tonight a little while after it ends if you’re interested :D

a recap of what happened during technoblade’s 11/28/21 “Jailbreak” stream!

  • The stream starts off with Technoblade outside of the prison, with the blueprints in his inventory. He sees Ranboo being taken into the prison by Sam, but the portal is broken is broken behind them.

1 Day Later:

  • Techno, Phil and Niki are in the syndicate room. He announces he will be breaking Dream out of prison, since he owes him from saving him at the execution. And since he say Ranboo being thrown in, him and the other syndicates will free him as well.
  • They ride to the prison and store their horses in a tunnel Phil made. Techno tunnels underneath the prison, explaining the elder guardians travel through a railway system and he won’t be affected by it until he is on the inside.
  • He gets to Dream and gives him armour and weapons, and they attempt to find Ranboo while the alarms go off. Sam and BBH catch them, but they kill them a few times. Dream tries to convince him to just leave Ranboo, but he is insistent on finding him.
  • They end up finding Connor, who is in prison apparently, and brings him with them as well as Ranboo. They escape through the tunnel.
  • Outside of the prison, the *entire* server is waiting for them– all they want is Dream.
  • Sam confronts Ranboo, and tells him to stand with him and take off his armour, quietly revealing that he has Michael (his kid) hostage. He obliges. If Techno and Dream don’t stay, he will kill Ranboo. Dream does not care about him, and Sam kills Ranboo. Ranboo loses all of his canon lives.
  • Niki sets off withers (which Sapnap sees), and Phil, Techno and Dream escape on horses while the others briefly hunt them.
  • At their base, Techno does not care what Dream does, and even takes his armour back from him. The favour was to break him out, and after that he is on his own. His next plan is to go after Sam for killing Ranboo. Dream leaves, and Techno and Phil consider bringing him back because of his powers to bring people back from the dead.
  • Connor joins their group in the snow biome, and they will take him under his wing and train him.
  • Before Ranboo died, he gave Techno a photo of Michael, which he brings to Tubbo. Tubbo brings him to Michael’s room– but Michael is gone.
  • Additionally, Dream gives Techno the Axe of Peace

a recap of what happened during quackity’s big final 11/27/21 lore stream.

Part 1 (“Lessons”)– 3 months before the prison visit

  • In Las Nevadas, Slimecicle and Quackity meet. Q explains that in the future he will be going on a dangerous trip to meet friends (referencing the prison visit), and that within the next few months he will teach Slimecicle everything he knows to take over Las Nevadas when he dies.
  • He is incredibly fond of Slime, saying that he reminds him of himself when he first joined the server– not yet corrupted by the people there.
  • Throughout the next few months, Slime follows Quackity around, being taught new lessons each week, including “Humans are assholes”, “Politics are the way to power”, “Create no emotional attachment to anything”, and “Seek successful revenge”. Quackity makes a statement that “legacy is all that you leave behind in this world.” His last advice– “The house always wins.” They are the house, and they always win.
  • Meanwhile, Purpled reveals that he has not forgiven Quackity for what he did to his heritage and to his UFO. He has been pretending to be nice, but will take revenge when he can.

Part 2 (“Loose ends”)– 2 days before the prison visit

  • Sapnap makes his way through Las Nevadas for the first time, astonished by its beauty. Quackity happily greets him. He gives him a quick tour and invites him to the grand opening of the casino.
  • Q confronts him, saying that they all left to work on another country without him, and that Las Nevadas was meant for all of them. But Sapnap is adamant that Karl was meant to invite him to Kinoko Kingdom, and does not know why he didn’t.
  • Sapnap convinces him to come to Kinoko Kingdom for a tour and to see the others. He shows him around– the Shroom Shack, Party Island, the military building. They talk briefly about Tina, who Q has never met, as the newest member of Kinoko Kingdom. There is an extra house, in case Q wants to live there, but he makes it clear that he has a country to return to.
  • Karl is there. He welcomes Q, and gives him a quick tour. Karl is acting strangely nonchalant about Quackity being there, as Q reminisces about their old homes in L’Manburg.
  • Quackity tells Karl about Las Nevadas, which he previously told him about creating. Karl goes silent and leaves with Sapnap, needing to speak to him about something. Q follows.
  • Karl suddenly becomes angry, saying that Quackity is the reason he died and lost a canon life. He doesn’t understand why Q is there (“Is he here to toy with me?”). Quackity defends himself– it was a plan that they all agreed to that resulted in Karl’s death. It becomes clear that Karl does not remember anything about Quackity other than the lead up to his death, events falsely interpreted by his memory loss (“What history [do we have]!?).
  • Karl kicks Quackity out of Kinoko Kingdom. Q threatens him (“If you come across my country, there will be consequences.”).

Part 3– the day of the visit

  • After the prison events, Technoblade escaping and believing Dream did as well, Quackity runs back to Las Nevadas to warn the others. Las Nevadas is in danger and they need to get everyone together.
  • Purpled tells him that someone left a chest nearby, and that he doesn’t know what is inside. Quackity goes to open it, concerned it is a trap. Slimecicle says he will take care of it, and opens the chest. It is empty. They turn around to see Purpled pulling a lever.
  • Quackity and Purpled fall through the sand trap, to a room below the country. They are on a platform suspended in a large hollow room, with lava dripping from the walls to the ground below.
  • Purpled wants the revival books, knowing about the prison visits, and he tries to kill Quackity for it. Even if Quackity had it, he is the last person he would ever give it to.
  • Instead of killing Quackity, Purpled turns to Slimecicle. He pushes him off of the platform to the lava below, and Quackity dives in after him. He tries to place sand for him to stand on, but he doesn’t get on it. (“Thank you for showing me what it’s like to be human. I almost was.” Slimecicle dies. Purpled escapes.

Weeks later…

  • Quackity is in the library at Las Nevadas, with two books. He has been doing research on slimes to see if there is anything he can do to help Slimecicle. Slimecicle is in his room, though in his original skin. He cannot walk or talk, and remains completely stationary and unresponsive in the corner of the room. He seems to be in something of a vegetative state.
  • Quackity is writing a book for him about everything they’ve done together, so he can one day remember everything. He has also been thinking about him, and decided that it was time to give him a name– Charlie.
  • He opens up the chest beside him and takes out a book there– Charlie wrote it. It is completely filled with what looks to be gibberish. Hoping this could be code and that he can get better, Q takes the book to Foolish to decipher. It is code– letters spelling out the word “LEGACY”.
  • Excited, he runs to Charlie’s room, but he is gone.

A detailed recap of the events of Tommy’s stream on 04/29.

  • The stream starts off with Tommy, Ranboo, Tubbo and Ghostbur in the tower beside the prison. Tubbo gives himthe Wither Skulls that he gathered the other day, and Ranboo gives him the potions of invisibility and fire resistance.
  • There is a change of plans: Ghostbur will go into the prison with Sam and Friend to visit Dream. Tommy will follow closely behind, invisible, and sneak in. He will kill Dream then.  Ghostbur doesn’t really understand the plan– He does not know that Dream only has one  canon life left and thinks that they are just “slapping him on the wrist.”
  • As they cross the bridge and are right beside Dream (but the gate is still up), Tommy pulls out his axe. He goes to kill Dream, but Sam notices that someone invisible is there. Sam, nearly murdering him, brings Tommy back on the bridge, leaving Ghostbur trapped on the other side. Sam can’t bring the bridge back.
  • Dream says that if Sam does not let him free, he will revive Wilbur with the book. Ghostbur cries out, saying that Tommy told him that he would be okay. He does not want to die (Tommy: “It’s okay, Ghostbur. Count to ten. Think of the blue.”)
  • Dream logs off and comes back with the revive book. As the lava pours down from the ceiling, Dream is seen killing Ghostbur, bringing Wilbur back to life.
  • Sam is angry at Tommy, saying that he should have killed him the second he saw him on the bridge. Tommy does not think Sam fully understands the gravity of the situation, with Wilbur being brought back to life.
  • Ranboo and Tubbo are waiting outside of the prison. They are stunned to hear that Ghostbur is dead and that Wilbur is back. Together, they travel back to the area where they had tried to revive Wilbur.
  • Wilbur, alive, is waiting for them. (“Oh, hello again. Is this real?”)
  • Wilbur is confused and aggressive at first. He refuses to take the blue that Tommy gives him, calling it stupid, and does not care about Friend (“Who is this– Who the fuck is Friend?”).
  • He looks across the destroyed L’Manburg, thinking that this was the L’Manburg that he destroyed, seemingly proud of the number that was done on the country. Otherwise, he is thrilled to be alive again, having spent 13 ½ years in darkness. He watches the sunrise (”This is mine. This is my sunrise.”
  • Wilbur explains that everyone has their own personal limbo. His was a train platform. Everywhere he went, there was concrete and no matter how much he screamed and clawed at the walls, no one would come to help him. Until Tommy arrived, and soon left as a train approached and took his away. Moments before he was brought back to life, another train approached. There were two people on that train– Ghostbur, his face steaming with tears, and Dream, who was conducting the Dream.
  • He considers Dream to be his hero.
  • After experiencing death, he no longer wants to die. There are so many things that he wants to do.
  • He slowly starts to get Ghostbur’s memories back, faintly remembering the sewers.

Chapter One: The Lesson(04/23)

A detailed recap of the events of the Red Banquet streams on 04/25.

Those in attendance of the Red Banquet: Puffy, Niki, Hannah, Eret, HBomb, Awesamdude,  Foolish, Fundy, Antfrost, BadBoyHalo and Ponk.

  • The stream begins with Bad in front of the Egg in the statue room. He, Ant and Ponk wait for the arrival of the others.
  • Once everyone is gathered, Bad pulls Sam aside to talk, and makes sure they are on the same page on the banquet (that Bad wants to turn over a new leaf). After a bit of chatting and dancing, they get seated at the table. Ranboo is seen hidden in the back, with an axe.
  • A few people speak before they eat, all generally saying that they hope that things have really changed. Eret hopes that the server will go back to normal after this. Bad calls this a banquet that they will never forget.
  • Suddenly, the walls of the statue room turn completely into lava, trapping them in. There is no way for them to escape.
  • Puffy says that they never trusted any of them, and goes to the chest of armour that they had planted in the table the other night. Hannah told the others about the armour, and she, Bad, Ant and Ponk put the armour on. She turns on her friends, joining the side of the Egg.
  • Sam reveals that he had another plan, since he did not trust them either. He wants to blow up the Egg and hid a trap. TNT descends from the ceiling, but as it blows up the Egg, everything it touches turns to crying obsidian, and regenerates. They had made new precautions after Quackity tried to blow it up.
  • Bad wants to do ritual sacrifices with them, for the Egg. There is nothing they can do to stop them, as they have no weapons or armour. Eret is brought to the Egg first, surrounded by the others execution-style.
  • Foolish stands up for them. They all tried to work together, but this is it for them. He tries to summon lightning, but nothing happens– they are in the Egg’s domain now and no power is stronger than it’s. They start with Foolish instead. Puffy wants to help him, but she is only one person. They kill Foolish (Foolish loses a canon life).
  • Wanting to kill Niki next, Quackity appears from a hole in the wall, with a sword and full enchanted diamond armour. He tries to convince Bad to stop it, because he is not like this. They surround him with crossbows. Bad says that if he wanted to defeat them, Quackity should have brought an army with him.
  • Quackity did. In fact, he did one better and brought his worst enemy. Technoblade logs on and appears behind Q with his army of dogs.  Technoblade did not want to work with Quackity, but he understands that this Egg has gone too far. Q had searched across the entire lands for the best mercenary– Purpled appears. He is on their  side, as they had the best price.
  • A fight breaks out, ending with Ant(canon), Hannah and Ponk (non-canon) dead. and Bad escaping through a secret exit that leads to the labyrinth-like hallway. They leave Bad, Purpled not being able to get to him.
  • For now, Sam will build a prison around the Egg to contain it.
  • Bad escapes on a boat. He wonders what went wrong and reflects on everything that the Egg promised him. He was doing what he thought was right, but he wonders if he is a villain now.
  • Puffy is distraught after watching her son die and killing her best friends. She doesn’t even know who she is anymore. She can’t do this anymore, and logs off.

A detailed recap of what happened during Ranboo’s 04/23 “The Enderwalk Saga: Chapter One” lore stream.

TW DEREALIZATION

chapter one: the lesson

  • The stream starts off with Ranboo in his house with Michael. He greets him happily, and leaves to talk to Foolish about the process of the mansion.
  • He runs around the mansion looking for Foolish, complaining that it is too big. Foolish says that the mansion is almost complete and runs some ideas about the build past him. Foolish reminds him of the “deal” that they made (relating to the Shulker). Ranboo is confused as to what he is talking about but pretends he does.
  • Suddenly, Foolish’s voice fades out and the sound of an Endermen fills Ranboo’s ears. The line “Lesson 14: If you have the opportunity to gain a favor, take it.” flash across the screen. In panic, he tells Foolish that they will finish the tour later. Speaking to himself, he says that he just remembered something (the lesson), and doesn’t remember the deal he made with him. He tries to reassure himself that these thoughts and paranoia have nothing to do with the experiments that he has been doing.
  • In front of the Bee ‘N Boo hotel, he remembers another lesson: “Lesson 27: Do not reminisce on what you have lost for it will weigh you down.”  He worries that it has something to do with Dream, but Sam reassured him that he is still in prison.
  • He thinks that he needs to start to tell people what he has done, but as he walks across the railway he remembers another lesson: “Lesson 53: Never fully trust someone.” This thought makes him paranoid again.
  • He finds himself drawn to the prison, but forces himself not to go in, saying that he just needs to get home. He remembers another lesson: “Lesson 67: Leave no evidence of what you have helped with.” Again, he tries to reassure himself that it has nothing to do with his experiments.
  • He remembers another lesson: “Lesson 94: DO NOT LET THEM KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE.” The text transitions to a page in a journal. He is distraught, saying that he needs to go to the prison and talk to Sam, that it was the 4th book. He does not know how many lessons there are.
  • He runs to Sam, who is cleaning up around the outside of the prison. He begs Sam to let him go into the prison, getting agitated. Sam will not let him, as he was told not to let him in. Ranboo does not want to talk to Dream– he thinks that he needs to be locked in, at least for a few years. He continues to demand to be put in, refusing to tell him why, but Sam, over and over, tells him that he did nothing wrong.
  • Sam convinces him to leave, but Ranboo needs answers. He does not want to remember, but he has “opened Pandora’s box” and there is no way to close it.
  • The way that the Enderwalk works has been something he has been trying to figure out for a long time. He goes through the Nether, saying that there is only one thing that can give him answers.
  • In his basement, he makes a splash potion of water and takes out his journal, writing “What am I?” The only person who can give him answers is himself. He splashes the potion onto himself, and the screen turns black with the sound of an Enderman in the back.

Other:

  • There is blood on the Prime Path. Not sure if this is part of the lore or not.

a recap of what happened during quackity’s big 04/12 lore stream.

this stream takes place before his prison visit to dream

72 hours before prison visit

  • Quackity visits Sam on a small island. Sam is guilt-ridden after Tommy’s death. Quackity tries to convince him that Tommy’s death was not his fault, but manages to use his grief against him and convinces him to go to the prison and kill Dream– if he is dead, he can’t hurt anyone.
  • Sam changes his mind. Quackity understands, but says that one day someone will have to teach Dream a lesson, and it will be him who does it. Las Nevadas will have no place for emotions or personal feelings, and Sam as his business partner needs to get it together.

48 hours before prison visit

  • Quackity digs downward from a marker, which leads him to a passage to the egg. He covers the egg in TNT. BadBoyHalo and Punz arrive and threaten him, saying that there will be consequences if he does it. They chase him back into the passage.
  • Quackity apologizes to Bad, and places the redstone torch. The TNT blows up, but it starts from the egg room (it was lit from the other room)
  • A first-person cut scene: Quackity (?) holding only a redstone torch escapes the throne room, which is destroyed a dripping with lava.

24 hours before prison visit

  • Quackity rides to the prison. George is hanging out in front of the prison, and they greet each other happily. Quackity wants him, Karl and Sapnap to join Las Nevadas
  • George tells him about Kinoko Kingdom. Quackity did not know about it. Karl was supposed to tell him, but he did not (memory problems). They are no longer a part of El Rapids. He is hurt that they made a country without him.

Far in the past, before the elections

  • Quackity meets with Wilbur, after the presidential debate.
  • Quackity is convinces that everyone has a good side. They argue, and Wilbur says that in order to show your good side, you have to use violence.

Present day

  • Quackity is in front of Wilbur’s memorial. He write a book to him, telling him that he was right all along, and that he won’t make the same mistake twice. He leaves the book and rides off on his horse as alarms blare.

“Welcome to The Other Side.”

Tales from the SMP: The Pit

Cast: Karl Jacobs, Technoblade, Philza, Hannah Rose, Ranboo, Punz, Tubbo, Sapnap, BadBoyHalo, Fundy, Jack Manifold

  • This episode takes place in the future, a few years before the Lost City of Mizu takes place.
  • In a monarchy, the King (Technoblade) decides that the winner of a series of games at the Colosseum will become his new general, with Karl there as the cameraman to record the events. Tubbo is the winner, and passes the final test to kill the other contestants. In the end, Technoblade orders Tubbo to kill Karl.
  • Afterwards, Karl is in the Inbetween. Through a book, he is reminded not to stray from the path. As he travels through the Inbetween the world around him glitches, and becomes darkened. A book under the grand white tree tells him to go up the ladder, as there is a surprise waiting for him. The room above is covered in blood with a sign saying “Stick to the path :]”
  • “They” can see that Karl is starting to doubt himself, but attempts to reassure him that this is a place to feel at ease, saying that his imagination must be skewed, and not to trust anything but the path. These “illusions” are just his mind deteriorating.
  • After reading a book urging him to find a way to the portal, Karl’s vision warps and he ends back up in the room he was in. In a very serious tone, he is told that they know more than he does and that they know what is right for him.
  • The versions of himself that he sees wandering the castle stayed in the Inbetween for too long and lost themselves, and are doomed to walk the castle grounds forever. In this book, he is told to go to the portal.
  • His vision warps and he is in a dark room with another book, telling him that if he goes to the portal he will regret it or else “we will make sure [Karl] will not stray from the path.” He runs and text on the screen tells Karl to follow the torches and that “It” can’t follow him through the portal. He runs through the castle, following the torches, leading him to the portal. He is told that if he goes through the portal he may never remember his friends again.
  • He escapes through the portal anyway, and appears in The Other Side. It is a beautiful dark castle with spiraling towers, lava, and a dark black cloud above it. Despite its ominous appearance, it is rather serene. Even the person writing the books seems calmer. “Welcome to The Other Side. You’re home now.”

a recap of what happened during quackity’s big 03/16 lore stream!

  • Quackity begins with a meet up with BadBoyHalo on top of the tower. Bad called him up there to tell him to stop getting in his and the Eggs way. “You want power, Bad? I’ll show you real power.”
  • Cinematic cutscene: Quackity and Bad journey to see what Quackity has been preparing. He brings him to Las Nevadas.
  • In his chest is a book to his “Sugar Pumpkin.” It is from Schlatt, telling him to follow the rails above him.
  • Quackity follows the rails into a cave, where he meets Glatt. It is his gym. He explains that if he goes to the surface his skin starts falling off, so he stays underground. Wilbur and Tommy(when he was dead) as ghosts would join him in his gym. He also says that Mexican Dream sometimes comes down there to teach him Spanish.
  • Schlatt makes a proposition: He wants Quackity to help him get out of the confines of his gym. He says that Dream has a book (that can revive people) and wants Quackity to revive him. Quackity is hesitant. He decides to bring Schlatt to his new Las Nevadas and make a bet for old times sake. If Quackity loses, he needs to go to Dream and get the revival book. If Quackity wins, Schatt will have to work for Quackity and will never be brought back to life. “You know I’m a very lucky man.” (Schlatt)
  • After a short time jump, Quackity meets with Sam. He wants to see Dream. Quackity lost the bet with Schlatt. He manages to persuade Sam to let him into the prison with his sword and axe, so he can forcefully take the book from him (but promises not to kill him). Sam reminds him that if he does anything wrong, he will kill him.
  • Dream explains that he burned the book and that it is all in his head. He wants Dream to give him his knowledge, then. Quackity shows him his weapons. Dream freaks out, yelling for Sam.
  • A cinematic scene: Quackity, covered in blood, is in front of the El Rapids sign. He breaks the blocks with Karl’s, George’s and Sapnap’s faces, leaving his own. He reminiscences on the past, with his friends, and tears El Rapids apart. Finally, he breaks his own face from the poster. The scene is disrupted by a clip of Quackity opening a briefcase of poker chips and pulling out a calendar with each day marked off with “Visit Dream.” He crosses out the very first day.
