One of the East River’s last wild spaces. At the mouth of Newton Creek, the rocky hills of Hunter’s Point will soon grow lush and green in the Spring (if it ever gets here!). Long Island City’s dog walkers, high school students, graffiti artists, and urban explorers have helped transform this unnatural landscape into an informal parkland, a source of inspiration to artists for decades.
This may be one of the last seasons to enjoy this man-made wilderness. A proposal for the final phase of a development project was released in May 2014.
