In DUMBO, Brooklyn, on this day in 2015!

Sharon was horribly ill, but managed to do the performance of Henry IV that Nico came to see. She couldn’t make it to the International Emmys with him though

Two years ago, these two were having a cuddle under Brooklyn Bridge!

Three years ago today!

(She was in DUMBO, now she’s in Dumbo!)

Four years ago today!

Five years ago this week!

Hello Dear Friend.

With all that’s spinning in the world right now, I hope you’re very well. There’s so much at stake - and much to change. I’ve been wondering, how’s your summer been going?

New - New York.

For the last month I’ve been working on the Butler University NYC Summer Theatre Program. The students are terrific, and we’ve been seeing tons of performances, visual art and music. They’re also meeting industry professionals and going behind the scenes to learn about process from a variety of perspectives.

Along with providing context and conversation pre and post productions, I’ve been documenting moments, events and wrangling them online. It’s been wonderful to be a part of their New - New York.

See Our Summer at a Glance.

Heck, art is good. Yup, we’re on the interweb, Facebook&Instagram.  Like and follow us behind the scenes and into the action.

Thanks very much!

Sending goodness x, Darla

Andreas Feininger was a LIFE Magazine photographer known for his haunting images of New York City. LIFE named him one of the most influential photographer who innately understood New York City’s precision and architectural indulgence. He was responsible for capturing New York City’s urgency of realism so much, that it became art; “not merely how a great 20th century city looked, but how it imagined itself and its place in the world.” In a glowing review on Feininger’s technique, LIFE said:

“New Yorkers, meanwhile — that landscape’s inhabitants — were often an afterthought: it was form, pattern and, perhaps above all else, scale that Feininger sought. Human beings might have built this thrilling, sprawling, purposeful urban panorama, but their presence in Feininger’s pictures was not necessary; their handiwork would suffice.
