She could see why everyone in the house accepted him so quickly. He was like a magnet. It was impossible not to be pulled in by his lopsided smile, his loud laugh, the way he helped others behind closed doors. She felt it. She felt it as warmth starting deep in her chest, blooming out, contrasting with the cold steel at her fingertips. Falling wasn’t a choice anymore.
