Started work on Thranduil yesterday, made his over robe/bougie elf blanket. This abstract brocade is so beautiful, I’m obsessed, totally worth the price for it I’m so please with how it looks :3
Waiting on my bulk order of cording so I can start the piping and get the main coat sewn
When we to Canada a few months ago we stopped by Medieval Chaos on Vancouver Island. It’s a small, immersive LARP set in a beautiful little medieval village called Dagger Deep. I played a vapid little wood elf called “Wattle”, and Kieran played his usual Rus mercenary, Olegg. Everyone was lovely!
Unfortunately, I just didn’t have it in me to really roleplay. The trip kind of proved to me that I have one too many characters in my head, and I haven’t emotionally moved beyond some of my earlier characters, namely Erin Westwood, who I played last time I visited Dagger Deep. The memories of playing her were just a bit too clear and still tugged at me emotionally, so I found it utterly impossible to truly get into character. I found myself playing a more boring version of myself. I felt embarrassed.
Luckily, Kieran was there to overshadow my failures. As usual, Kieran/ Olegg was the star of the show (anyone who’s LARPed with the two of us knows that the character of Olegg is pretty hard to compete with - he’s been playing Olegg for four years and is also just a fantastic actor. But don’t tell him I said that). We were lucky enough to be paired up with Ash (who played Ajax during my last visit), who is also a 10/10 amazing actor and probably my favorite roleplayer ever.
Next up, my absolutely favorite picture ever! Character: Elven Hero, Elder Scrolls Online Taken at Dokomi 16 in the Nordpark in Düsseldorf. Photo and edit: www.facebook.com/zenogaichphoto Zeno Gaich Photography
