Ahhhh! I’m so excited to finally share this piece! ✨ The latest in the LitJoy Crate add-on collaboration - a booksleeve featuring Elisabeth, Nathaniel and Silas from #SorceryOfThorns by @marrogerson!

This was such an epic scene in the book, and so chaotic! Flying books, rips in space, magic whips and fancy swords! I normally don’t put a lot of attention into environments (I prefer to focus on people and expressions), but in this case, when an environment has its own personality, it truly becomes enjoyable to dress!

A scene from Sorcery of Thorns that I’ve been wanting to do for the longest time. Silas&rsquo

A scene from Sorcery of Thorns that I’ve been wanting to do for the longest time. Silas’ summoning scene was the capstone of this book for me. It was terrifying, sorrowful, and bittersweet for the trio to go through. Silas is my favorite character of the three, as a non-human character learning or questioning human feels is one of my favorite tropes, and this scene tested that with a ferocity.

I went a bit extra on this one, as I usually don’t put much detail into backgrounds , but since I meant to include Elisabeth’s and Nathaniel’s reflections in the window (so we could see everyone’s face), everything in between had to be in focus and detailed. Also had to break out my anatomy references for the first time in a while for Silas, especially since he’s meant to be so gaunt - good exercise!

AnotherSorcery of Thorns fanart, yay! I was terrified when I realized that I’ll need to draw rows and rows of books in the background (moreover with some perspective), but it actually turned out surprisingly well. And it actually looks like big old books (I think), so… yay. :)
Tried to make the clothes look appropriate with the year mentioned in the book, not sure how much historically acurate I managed to make them, nevertheless I like how they turned out.
I want to draw the matching picture to this one, but we’ll se see when and if I get to it. :)

And of course - it’s drawn with Derwent Inktense again (I just love them :) )

I recently finished reading Sorcery of Thorns (by Margaret Rogerson, @marrogerson) and it just woul

I recently finished reading Sorcery of Thorns (by Margaret Rogerson, @marrogerson) and it just wouldn’t leave me alone until I tried to draw some fanart too. It’s a particular scene from the book when Nathaniel and Elisabeth are attacked by imps (if that’s the name in english, I read the book in czech) in Brassbridge. For some reason I’ve thought it was a good idea although I’m bad at drawing dramatic scenes or magic or light, not mentioning background. Or clothes. (yes I tried to stick with fashion for the claimed in the book, but… me and cdrawing clothes, we’re not friends… *shrugs*) Ahem. And it looks stupid and as if Nathaniel was just standing there, but it was said there when he started casting the spell, he closed his eyes and just looked calm and concentrated but it probably just turned out looking silly next to tenacius looking Elisabeth. Well… I tried, really. Despite all flaws though I think it somehow is still much better than the dull looking portrait of Scarlet Benoit (Scarlet).
(Coloured with Derwent Inktense.
Pose ref for Elisabeth by @jookpubstock  (yes, ended up rather different from the original action pose as usual lol) )
