LIVE

Attention artists looking to sell art digitally, and people looking to pay artists, and are looking to do so without demolishing the environment, check out CO2ign. I’m on board with their launch because I’m comfortable selling under their model and I think this is the gallery sale collection and shop artists have been looking for.

Here is my shop if you want to buy art and pay me for my buffoonery, as I strive to be a quality buffoon, and there’s a lot of other amazing artists to check out.

What do you do to help the planet?

I live a vegan lifestyle (this year is my 6th!), try to buy plastic free, only buy second hand clothes, buy 100% renewable energy, only buy local & organic veg, work for a sustainability not-for-profit, about to start an environmental management masters & am involved in #climateactivism with the #youthstrike4climate.

Post what you do to fight the good fight below. Let’s support and uplift everyone trying to save our planet. I want to acknowledge each and every one of you! ❤

incend-ium:

I’ve been thinking about balance recently. Balancing all the different factors to truly find the most sustainable option. A couple of posts ago, I said glass is always the most sustainable option over plastic, because it can be infinitely recycled. After doing my research, I found that this is not necessarily the case. If a plane is stocked full of glass bottles instead of plastic, the carbon footprint of that plane is much higher because of the weight. Also glass takes a lot of energy to produce and recycle. So is glass always better than plastic? Sometimes it’s not. •

Another thing I’ve been researching is plastic packaging. Wrapping vegetables in plastic has it’s uses. It makes vegetables last up to 5 times longer, and if food waste was a country, it would be the 3rd highest emitter of greenhouse gases, after the USA and China. So if all supermarkets didn’t wrap their vegetables in plastic, would that really be more sustainable, with the effects that would have on climate change? •

It’s hard to know what the answer to these problems are. I’m still not comfortable buying vegetables wrapped in plastic, but luckily I have access to package-less veg. Maybe supermarkets should start using cellulose plastic wrapping which is biodegrable? That technology exists because some I’ve seen smaller eco-friendly brands use it and this would increase longevity of good without polluting the oceans forever. I also don’t think replacing all plastic bottles with glass bottles is sustainable. I think we should take action to persuade the local councils and government to increase the efficiency of recycling plants, so every plastic bottle is recycled. But of course plastic is only finitely recyclable too. Maybe the only true answer is that humans need to stop consuming so much pre-packaged food.

It’s complicated and I don’t think there’s one right answer. The world is so intertwined and there’s so many factors to consider. How do you find balance?

Saw this and just had to share!!!
We all have odd socks and this idea is not only a great way to save water, stop animals from ingesting plastic, re-use/ recycling buys is also a great #zerowaste idea…

“Homemade, reusable water balloons!

The kids wanted some water balloons for a water fight but I can’t stand the waste of the real deal so I stitched up some of these instead. They are made out of a couple of pairs of tights Mena had grown out of stuffed with scrap fabric. (Stuffed baby socks would be ace too, and less stitching.) They sure soak up the water and give maximum splash but with zero waste!

Give it a go, make Attenborough proud!”

I love this zero waste idea!!!!

“Living” Chandelier That Naturally Purifies the Air Contains Real Algae

Design engineer and biotechnologist Julian Melchiorri is the brain behind the “living” chandelier, something that not only adorns your home but also purifies the air that you breathe in, an ingenious design that can be the perfect addition to your home decor.

He calls it Exhale, a lovely chandelier that is composed of seventy glass leaves filled with algae that purify air. This has been on display at the V&A Museum during the London Design Festival, another green design that has been created by the emerging design-engineer Julian Melchiorri, who has also created the world’s first synthetic biological leaf.

Melchiorri’s work is based on the simple principle of photosynthesis, but the well-thought of use of the man-made household item, making it functional for the environment, makes this a brilliant innovation. He has been awarded the Emerging Talent Award during London Design Week, in an effort to applaud his great contribution. While the Exhale chandelier is still a prototype, the young designer wishes to bring the technology to larger buildings in the future, combating against harmful emissions.
