was a priestess who lived in a village near the Bone-Eater’s Well. She was the first to encounter Kagome and she often provides important advice and background information to Inuyasha’s group to assist in their journey; she was Kikyō’s younger sister. wikifandom.
Osamu is the local Daimyo and Makoto’s former master. Ruthless, brutish and with zero tolerance for disobedience. He often abuses his power for no good.

Shiori is Makoto’s daughter who was kidnapped by order of the Daimyo when she was little. She’s taken to a ninja village where she undergoes their secret training and is told that her family abandoned her.
As she grows up Shiori starts suspecting that her father may be still out there and looking for her.
Occasionally she sneaks out of the ninja village and visits the neighbouring town. That’s where she meets Tomoe (the geisha) who recognises her as Makoto’s daughter but says nothing so as not to scare her away.

Emperor Kazuhiko of Japan. Afraid of Norita-sama (the Shogun) and has delegated all important decisions to her. Quite vain and used to leading a lavish lifestyle.

Here’s the second character from my submission for the Feudal Japan Challenge on ArtStation.
Meet Tomoe - she’s a geisha whose two biggest passions in life are food and playing the shamisen. She owns a little Soba restaurant where she cooks and performs for her guests each evening.
She grew up with Makoto (the samurai). They were best friends and inseparable until her family had to relocate and they lost touch.

The ArtStation challenge is finally over and I’m SO excited to begin sharing my work with you! It was one of the most intense projects I’ve ever worked on, the last 4 days of it I worked for 15 hours each day and it was hell but I loved every second of it! I’ve never been this excited for a project and the characters I created are so close to my heart now. It sounds cheesy af but they feel like friends now and I’ll miss them in a way. ☁️

The idea of the challenge was to create a lineup of 8 characters. It was my 1st time doing a lineup so it was indeed very challenging and new for me! I wanted to include some storytelling in this project to make my characters more believable and evoke certain emotions. I think this really helped me in the process and I found out how much I actually enjoy storytelling! So here is the main character in my story - Makoto, a former samurai who disobeyed his wicked master and became a rōnin. His daughter mysteriously disappeared after the conflict so he’s out to find her.

Kasumi is the last character from my lineup for the Feudal Japan challenge on ArtStation. She is a kitsune - a powerful shape-shifting fox. She is saved by Makoto (the rōnin) from forest yokai. As a sign of her gratitude she joins him on his search for his little daughter. She loves fried tofu.

Newest set of prints with original characters ready for another zine! From top to bottom: Nakatsuna, a disgraced imperial guard, Yasuyo, vengeful swordswoman, Azamaro (Maro), a young man from the far north (yes, based on the Emishi who were made famous in Princess Mononoke! What it didn’t show is that there were actually different clans), and Susumu, a mysterious mute boy in possession of a strange sword. Set at the very start of the Kamakura era, they travel across a chaotic land, pursued by soldiers and hungry ghosts while encountering gods and demons drawn to the aftermath of the Genpei War.

The Snake
This miraculous predecessor was a bit more difficult to design than usual so there may be fashion elements that don’t clearly scream “feudal Japan” than how I initially planned Nevertheless, here is Feudal Japan Viperion!
Slightly similar to canon viperion, I was thinking that striking the shamisen strings would initiate the “time-travel”countdown and the snake design would indicate how much time he would have left to travel back to the initial time-travel point. Otherwise, maybe he could use the instrument as an overdecorated bat to knock folks out lol.

The Princess (Under the Mask)
If this Queen Bee predecessor’s true identity was a mischievous house servant in Feudal Japan.
Similar to her canon counterpart, I imagined this predecessor to have great self-confidence. She never misses the chance to enjoy life’s pleasures but would also never hesitate to get her hands dirty if such pleasures (or herself) were disrespected

The Thief (Under the Mask)
If this Chat Noir predecessor’s true identity was a young noble in Feudal Japan.
Generally, I wanted this predecessor to have a “tight” and “restricting” design (i.e., covered neck, layered clothing, clad head to toe, etc.) to visually symbolize the constraints he may feel in his life. Then, with Chat’s miraculous attire, everything would be loose, because he would arguably be at his most “free” self. I may experiment more with fabric designs but alas, here he is so far lol ✨

Very early explorations of feudal ladybug and chat noir (unmasked), plus their relationship dynamics .
At the time, I wanted to focus on everyone’s facial expressions and not much on the fashion. But hopefully, I better solidify their outfits in future explorations because I’m not entirely satisfied of the ones I designed here lol.
