During a life safety inspection this afternoon, Fire Inspectors discovered an electric fireplace plugged into a device such as those pictured below. The Fire Prevention & Investigation Division reminds you to plug space heaters and electric fireplaces directly into the wall socket as per manufacturers instructions. #keepingyousafe

The Office of the Fire Marshal, in partnership with the Insurance Bureau of Canada, Enbridge Gas NB and the Hawkins-Gignac Foundation for Carbon Monoxide Education, is making a huge and exciting announcement at the Fredericton Fire Department, Two Nations Crossing Fire Station at 1pm. This relates to Fire Prevention Week and coincides with this year’s theme…“Hear the Beep Where You Sleep. Every Bedroom Needs A Working Smoke Alarm”.

This morning a team consisting of members of Fredericton Police, By-Law Enforcement, Recreation Officers, Fire prevention Officers and UNB Security, worked together, to place safety information, relevant to crime and fire prevention, in mailboxes on the college hill area. This program, with both a rubbish disposal and prevention aspect, has been in place for three years and has helped reduce instances of fires in that area.
