To be honest, at first I wanted to do everything in colour, but I was already frankly lazy, so I decided to leave it at that and put it that way.
I’ve been thinking about how the history of the phma would change as it occurs today, and that’s what happened.
**********
The modern AU, where Ed and Al, after their father’s departure and their mother’s death, were sent to an orphanage, where the teachers saw the children’s potential for alchemy and sent them to a special class for in-depth study of this science, where they meet Izumi Curtis, with whom they will spend a lot of time later, learning all the details.
A few years later, the brothers, having escaped from the orphanage, perform a transmutation of their mother in an abandoned house, which turns into a complete failure. In Ed’s basement, there was nothing to attach Al’s soul to; he remained only in his memories.
The case of the Elric brothers was a trigger for tightening the law on learning and applying alchemy in society. From now on, all children under 18 years of age were banned from any transmutation outside school and without the supervision of teachers, which caused a wave of negativity and protests.
At the hospital, Ed met Raven, an orphanage boy who treated lung inflammation.
It’s been a few years since Ed has been friends with Raven and is trying somehow with pain and loss.

btw you all have to stop talking about gargoyles when you actually mean grotesques. not because i actually care that much about using the correct technical terms but because those wretched beasts deserve your love and recognition too.

basically, for those unaware of the difference:

gargoyles: freaks with a job, created to drain water from the roof

grotesques: freaks for the hell of it, created when one guy dared to ask the question “what if there were some absolutely disgusting creatures just hanging out on the roof”

both:swell guys who deserve your admiration and make architecture look metal as hell
