hey @marvel

the audacity

the fcking audacity

you know what i’m talking about

let the boy rest or catch these hands

I know this has been posted about before, but I’m dying over Blizzard’s new “diversity space tool

A picture of Zarya, Lucio, and Torbjorn from Overwatch, and a radar chart next to them that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. For example, Zarya has more "Gender identity" than the others, and Lucio has more "Ethnicity", but the same amount of "Culture" as Zarya. All of them have the same "Sexual orientation" score. Torbjorn also has more "Age" and "Ability" than the others, but Zarya has more "Body Type" than him. I'm struggling to understand the logic here.
A picture and description of Ana, along with a column of traits listed alongside her, each one with a number score next to it: Culture: Egyptian. 7. Race: Arab. 7. Age: 60. 7. Cognitive Ability: Reason. 0. Physical ability: One eyed. 4. Body Type: Slim + curvy. 0. Facial Features/Beauty: Slightly aged. 1. Gender Identity: Woman. 5. Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual. 0. Socioeconomic Background: Middle class. 0. Above her, there is another radar chart, displaying these scores plotted out in blue.

this is actually the funniest and most tone-deaf thing I’ve seen in a while, and that’s really saying something, considering this is Blizzard!

The same picture as above, but cropped in closer to get a better look at those scores.

it kinda explains it on the page I linked, but I guess the point of this is to see how far they’re deviating from the basic “straight white male” character type. but here’s the thing…what exactly do these numbers mean?

like…why is “Egyptian” a seven? what makes it have that number? who decided that “Egyptian” is exactly seven steps away from whatever they think the “default” is, when it comes to nationality? and why are we still treating diversity like this in 2022??

and while we’re here, can I see the other options under “Cognitive Ability” please? I feel like the wording they use would really help me understand this better.

and “Physical Ability”, too! what are the other Blizzard-approved disabilities? I need to know this, for science!

oh, and let’s not forget gender! if “Woman” is a 5, does that mean “Man” is a 0? and what would a 10 be? I desperately need to know what would be considered a 10.

actually, could they just send me a download of this tool? I really want to know my own personal Blizzard Diversity Score™. I feel like that would help me.

god, this is just like those “Check Your Privilege!” quizzes from 10 years ago. reducing complex ideas down into simple numbers that can’t ever show the full picture.

I am starting to get genuinely tired of this trope in media where the emotionally unstable, aka “hysterical”, female character becomes suddenly so drunk with her powers (powers she cannot control, OF COURSE) that she plans on destroying the entire world, and obviously has to be killed, one way or another.

About Billdip

I love Billdip.

It’s ok to have your own opinion about this Ship, everybody has it, mine is that these two hate each other but they understand each other. Of course, there are the cannon things of the show and the fanon things of the fandom!

What I like about ships like these is that you can have complete freedom! You can make them hate each other to death but you can also make them love themselves to death.

Bill is a twisted and evil being but is only a ship. The relationship that I draw between Dipper and Bill is not toxic, it is not incestuous, it is not paedophile (since Dipper is over 18 years old here) Bill is almost Human in here also.

The way I see these two is how I see Hannibal and Will (The Hannibal Tv show) in the way that they are capable of killing each other but decide not to.

So, I say again, it’s completely fine to have your own opinion about this Ship, just like I have my own opinion about it.
