asjhdkalsjhfdals i forgot to buy sand for the fish tank yesterday when i was actually at the store, but i knew i wanted some so i went looking online and apparently petco actually does have the lowest price (for once in their life) and!!! same-day delivery!!! free!!!!

so i bought the fucking sand, as well as a jar of food because the one i wanted was sold out & my current jar is technically expired as of like a month ago

and i have gotten a text notification- my order is on the way!

yay!

then i get a second notification- my other order is on the way!

oh no.

they split it into two, so one person is bringing me 20lb of sand and the other is driving all that way to hand deliver a fucking. $5 jar of fish food.

if i’d knowwwwnnnnnn i wouldn’t have ordered the food!!! i thought they’d be coming from the same store & picked up together!!!!! the website never said they’d split up the order like this!!!!!!!!!!!!

i swear i’m not being an asshole on purpose, dear delivery driver ;___;

oh NO they also split the (hefty) tip 50/50 so the jar of food driver is getting a Generous tip for a single jar of fish food like i’m some sort of deranged noble who spares no expense getting random shit as fast as possible

and the driver who got stuck with the Giant bag of sand is getting. Not Enough. also like i’m a deranged noble but this time the really stingy type :’(

which is why i don’t really blame them for the fact that i just got a notification saying they are on the way!!! but the map shows them driving further and further in the wrong direction……..

they didn’t even put it in a bag

this delivery person had to pick up a single tiny jar of fish food and drive it from like two towns away and the company didn’t even allow me the dignity of being able to pretend like maybe it was something actually important that Needed to be hand-delivered at great expense. instead of less than an ounce of dried fish flakes.

youkaiyume said: don’t cringe, use it. AU where Max just got a dog and decides to order dog food from a store two towns away cuz it has same day delivery cuz i dunno. he can’t leave or it’s a very specific brand of dog food. And disgruntled Furiosa is the one assigned to deliver it.

it’s gotta be like- the rest of his (reasonable) order goes out like normal, but one (extremely dumb/superfluous) piece always gets left behind. and furiosa has to be the one to deliver it, obviously, even though she didn’t even pack the orders why is she being punished like this??

maybe max had called once his order arrived and the specific treats that he needed, because his dog is sick and will only eat that one brand and no other store carries it, is not in the box and he only ordered the rest of the random crap to fulfill the min order cost, frantic & probably coming across as a huge growly asshole (except furiosa can hear him soothing said dog in the background of the call, can hear the real worry in his voice)

and she says fine the store is closing in a few minutes anyway, i’ll drive the damn treats to you myself

and she does and the house when she gets there is a Mess and max is a Mess but he sees her with the bag of treats and his eyes light up with relief and the blanket-wrapped lump furiosa can kind of see on the couch wiggles once the bag is open and max just drops his shoulders in relief to see his dog react and doesn’t even close the door when he goes over to tempt them with a treat, bad knee clicking and talking in that low soft voice of his

and furiosa is like- well. okay.

except the same thing happens a week later, max puts in an order just to get those treats delivered and guess what gets left out of the box by mistake!!!!

and this time furiosa isn’t quite so begrudging about being the one to drive it over but she’s still not happy, and her staff (idk who works at the store, the girls?? some war boys??) gets a stern lecture about paying attention when picking for orders

and maybe this time the dog is looking a little bit better, is up on its paws but still shaky and thin, max looks like he maybe got some sleep in the last day or two, and she comments on them seeming to be doing better max does that thing where he over-justifies to a person who doesn’t care and isn’t judging, how this dog was bought with his wife on their first holiday with their new baby and now it’s the only link he has left and he just-

and then he realizes what he’s doing and clams up, and furiosa wasn’t really asking she was just making small-talk, she doesn’t give a shit what’s going on in customer’s lives as long as no animals are being abused, but now she’s got some context and it just, she Knows a little bit now and it sticks with her

so when the next week there’s an order in his name and she decides if she’s going to have to drive to his place anyway she might as well take the whole order over, and tells him she checked twice and the treats are in there (she may have tossed in an extra bag, shh)

max smiles a little and thanks her, still awkward with knowing that she Knows a bit more about him than he intended, and his dog is wagging its tail and sniffing furiosa’s hand, clearly on the mend, and she smiles back at him

the next week there’s no delivery order, and furiosa isn’t disappointed, that would be weird he’s just a random customer it’s not even like they really interacted, but when it’s half an hour to closing and max walks in leading his dog, much recovered, she can’t deny the jolt she gets when their eyes meet

Casually remembered Charlize was not cast as furiosa in the prequel….many feelings, none of them good
