Happy Monstera Monday feat. A New Watercolor Leaf Pattern!

I was inspired by young monstera leaves for this repeating watercolor pattern free backgrounds for personal use - download for mobile or message for desktop jpeg✌

Well, I decided to risk it and plant out some warm weather crops today. The cool weather stuff (lettuce, radish, and peas) that we planted on Apr 30th is just barely sprouted. It feels like that stuff should be up a little more by now. Today I put up wire trellis for tomatoes and pole beans. Planted a moderate number (12) of Beefsteak tomatoes and about a third of the row of pole beans. I don’t want them all starting to bear in late July, I’d rather have more coming on in September.

I had my little jar of saved eggshells to put in the tomato holes, pliers and shears jammed in my pockets, and a good hat. Also plenty of sunblock. Once I got started I just kept going and put in the cabbages and pumpkin seeds, too. The wide-open garden turns into a maze of poles and wire after a while, but it will look good when it’s full of green vines.

After this was as far as I could take it today, I messed about with flower beds a bit, trying to get rid of one awkward corner of lawn. The spot to the left where I let my daughter plant flowers is getting shaded out by a silver maple, so she needs a sunnier spot. Then I took the little curly willow rootlings that I’ve been keeping in a sunny window and planted them near the creek. Six planted - if two or three survive that will be ok.

I just want to get to the point where I can have a day like this and NOT need to help with schoolwork in the evening. Oyyyyyyy.

Wee garden is growing ok. I’ve got six tomatoes this year because im a madman. Early Girl, Goliath, Sungold, Better Bush, Indigo Ruby, and Chocolate Sprinkles. Some hansel eggplants, habaneros grown in several different locations to try it out. Beets and carrot seedlings. Kale for some reason. Strawberries. Basil and lettuce seedlings. Laundry basket potatoes. Sad beans.

I like the implication that one marigold and one (I think) basil were Bad Plants and got planted in isolation cells in the concrete blocks.

I’m SO jealous. This looks like heaven!

Xianxian the Drosera prolifera put out a little offshoot!

I decided not to cut it off yet, I just placed a planter under it so it can hit the ground and take roots at its own time.

Since I already have this little bowl of water around for humidity I thought I might as well make it a bit more interesting - so I changed the tapwater in it to rainwater and chucked some duckweed in there.

We’ll see how it goes: if the duckweed is unsatisfied with its new place I can always bring it back to the pond where it came from.

Welcome to vertical gardening! I now have a trellis in my raised beds, thanks to Christina Conway of Eugene Garden Design. What would you grow?

my mom and i spent three hours cleaning out our ponds (3 total, not large thankfully) and i separated a TON of irises, at least 70 i would say

we’re going to see what we want to plant in our yard/give to friends and then we’re hoping to sell the others since they’ve all got nice roots

i wanna buy a couple calatheas online (good price + reliable store) and shipping is $10 … so it would only be $35 or so for two plants…

maybe…

loving this all-pink leaf on my scraggly hoya
