Too tired and busy to make a joke today but here’s my joke from last year where I made Nova into a digimon instead of a pokemon and unintentionally got myself back into digimon for a couple days lol. Yes I drew all these in one day like a lunatic

“Howling Blaster!!”

Digimon AU where the digimon aren’t exactly the helpful digital partners the kids think they are. As the digimon evolve their cognitive thinking also increases and they understand exactly what they are; digital code trapped in a digital world. The more they evolve, the more they question their existence and if their partners are as necessary to protect as they originally thought. Without the real world to support the digital world, it would disappear. In order to properly exist, they must leave the digital world. Since the kids are able to cross over that barrier and exist, the same must be true of them, and they’ll go about getting there any way possible.

Matt watched as Gabumon’s form changed, the code making up his body shifting and growing. It became more complex and intricate. As the light faded and the new body before him came in to existence he noticed something was off. It wasn’t the gangly, strange proportions the creatures of the digital world had, it wasn’t the unnerving feeling that this creature was in some way mutated far from what a healthy version of what it should be. It was a feeling, one of uncertainty of just what it was as the large canine slowly raised it’s head and it’s hollow gaze turned on Matt.

“Ga… ru ru… mon…”, a rasping, gurgling voice slowly churned out from a muzzle full of crooked, sharp teeth.

Matt swallowed heavily, his brows pulled in tight as he felt himself unable to move. “Garurumon?” He asked, hesitantly; unsure if it was really a good idea to call attention to himself. But this was Gabumon, wasn’t it? Hadn’t he been, well, not exactly friendly but at least he couldn’t fault any of his actions.

This digimon, though… There was more comprehension in it’s eyes, for all that they lacked definition. He could tell that this creature was far more intelligent despite the guttural voice and bestial stare. It’s body looked like a great canine beast, but Matt was beginning to understand that all that muscle and claws were made up of intricate computer code, and he wasn’t quite sure just what it was being used to process. He felt how it looked at him, analyzed him, and seemed to be considering his worth.

“Yes, we’re partners.” Gabumon had said before. His expression had been clear and certain, if not a bit grim and worn. One or zero. It was a statement of fact that didn’t require anymore consideration.

But he was being considered now. What were partners if not two individuals in agreement together for mutual gain. When the balance shifted, and one could not provide benefit for the other, would the digimon still consider them partners?
