Some particularly ridiculous moments from my new “Hello NSA” music video. I picked some because I was proud of the wordplay and others because there were jumper cables on my nipples. I’ll leave you to sort out which is which.

In case you want to soundbathe in the happy murmur of 10,000 geeks in a big convention hall to tide you over until it’s safe to have comiccons again! Just loop those first 30 seconds.

Miss you all. Stay safe. Wear a mask. See you on the other side of this!

If you like wordplay, guitar solos, and criticism of surveillance states, check out my new music video ft. a love song using the NSA watchwords!

It’s a long story, but way back in 2016 I went to Toronto Comic Con with my buddy Justin to shoot some footage for a music video.

“Geeks in Love” was one of the singles off my geek music record “Borken Telephone” and I was lucky enough to get The Doubleclicks to join me for the track! I wanted to do this song justice!

The footage was great, but life got busy. We shot 3 other music videos in a single day the same week, but I just couldn’t find the time or energy to figure out how to edit my very silly and spur-of-the-moment video ideas into a proper video.

So I moved the footage onto a hard drive, and after 4 international moves in 5 years, I lost track of it entirely.

Until last week.

I recently moved (again) and found the hard drive (and the footage) while I was unpacking.

Watching the raw capture made me realize how much I MISS conventions. This pandemic has been hard. Really hard. I miss my friends. I miss the geek community. I miss the low murmur of 10,000 nerds in a big room.

So I decided to finally edit the footage together into a video. It’s cut together rough, and it’s corny as heck, and the pandemic has left me a little more jaded and cynical than the very earnest guy who appeared in this video. But I needed a little corny. I needed to remember there will be good things to go back to. Eventually, when it’s safe.

And I needed to remember the amazing community of people we’re sacrificing to protect until it’s safe to gather again.

So here’s me saying I love you all, I miss you, and I’ll see you on the other side of this!
