Okay, so The Second Serving is nice so far, but there is one thing that’s bothering me:
It’s an adaptation of The Butter Battle Book, which is about two small countries - Yookia and Zookia - at war. So far so good, but at some point Guy-Am-I and E.B. turn out in Zookia: Guy gets a new job, while E.B. is travelling around and even crosses the border and falls in love with a boy from Yookia.
And I get that Guy shares the same prejudices as Zookians, but E.B.’s subplot treats her like she was a Zookian, and she and Looka are star-crossed lovers who will bring peace and understanding to Zookia and Yookia…
But she’s, like, a tourist, at best. She only recently learned about the war between Zookia and Yookia, she doesn’t have the same life-long prejudice as Zookians, but both she and Looka act like she had and now it crumbles.
I guess, it was supposed to be probably something along the lines of an outsider who sees the ridiculousness of this war and how both sides are dehumanizing each other through propaganda, but the narrative frames it more like she was one of the sides. And it’s buffling.

You know what I just realized, these Wilkins Coffee commercials are basically a violent version of Dr, Suess’s Green Eggs and Ham, doesn’t anyone else see that?
humanized Gluntz! Since u guys liked my humanization of Sam so much and since some people liked the idea i made a humanization of Gluntz, hope you like it!
Oh don’t mind me, just thinking about this parallel again. I don’t even know how to feel about it anymore. It feels purposeful though. Idk if this is just Sam’s words rubbing off on Guy or if it’s something else altogether. But it kinda frustrates me that these scenes take place literally hours apart from each other. It’s the exact same wording too…It feels purposeful.
Two separate families.. They used to be a family once, but it seems like Guy has chosen to create his own now.
With Guy acting like he’s still annoyed by anything related to Sam, and cuts him out of his life in many ways……..
So that kind of hurts the little boy, and makes him want to find himself a family more than ever before.
(Just look at how tightly he shut his eyes in pain, even though he’s glad to see his friend-ahem-man…happy)
…But even when Sam decides to go find his mom, he never forgets the family he already has in his heart…. (The picture is the first thing he thinks to take with him for his long journey ifshukfhs)
GREEN EGGS AND HAM Season 2 is out on Netflix! I’m PUMPED that everyone can finally see what we created… and I finally get to share some art! I was on this project for 2 years, starting with visual development and ending with background designs and layouts. It is a surreal experience seeing the final product, and seeing my fingerprints in the sets… I am immensely proud to have been a part of this show, and grateful to have learned from great talents @billperkinsart, Piero Piluso, @miles.thompson, Brad Raymond, Tyler Gentry, and Cody Cameron. Im not disappointed anymore im just kinda mad that we had like 3 episodes out of 10 where sam and guy interact. Its so upsetting because its their show and they barely talk at all this season >=(
