Griffin Island, GW’s 1987 version of Avalon Hill’s 1986 wilderness adventure campaign supplement for 3rd ed RuneQuest, both revised and expanded from Chaosium’s 1981 Griffin Mountain (Angus Fieldhouse cover art). “Griffin Mountain” remains a location that can be found on Griffin Island. This campaign exists outside RQ’s original setting of Glorantha, and orcs are a major faction on the island instead of trollkin and broo.
What a tough time. But still there is a place for little happiness I’ve finished the details for my future gryphon, so I believe two babies will be born soon C: Actually I dream about 10 color variations, but can’t make all of them at once ;D
Can I make my own grifflet? Yes. You can use grifflet designs for personal, non-commercial purposes (e.g. in a DnD campaign, as an RP character, etc.)
Can I sell/trade/buy grifflets? No, unless it’s a design that you purchased from me (peregyr). You can re-sell or trade designs commissioned or bought from me.
Can I make a grifflet plushie/print/keychain/other merch? Only for your own personal enjoyment–please do not sell any grifflet merch without contacting me first!
Can I put grifflets in my video game/novel/etc? Only if you are inviting me to be a co-author or co-collaborator! Please do not use grifflets for any project, especially any commercial project, without consulting me first!

This year’s issue of Almost Real: A Speculative Biology Zine is mythology themed, so I wanted the cover critter to be a weird take on an extremely recognizable legendary beast.
The marsupial griffin is my shot at that, a large flying carnivore with a rear-facing pouch like a thylacine. Its unusual front incisors are continuously growing like rodent teeth, but exposed like a beak— nursing young have a gap in between them, but as they wean into sub-adults the gap closes and the teeth grow to a sharp hook for tearing into meat and carrion. Their thumbed hind feet somewhat resemble a primate’s, but with a set of sharp talons for capturing and gripping prey.
