The wait is almost over!
Cass and Iola are a pair of rookie bounty hunters trying to strike it big on the wildest edge of the galaxy. Squeaking by on luck, tenacity, and a heavy dose of foolhardiness, they’ve begun to make a name for themselves in the hunting circuit. But when they accept a job from a wealthy exotic pet dealer they stumble into a fight they weren’t prepared for - and become the newest target. Can the guncats outsmart the deadliest hunters and criminals in the galaxy, or will their luck finally run out?
We did actually pull this off! And I was writing my thesis while it happened!

No need to be dramatic. You can still pre-order it and get the discount. That being said. Only three more days till the first issue hits the shelves!
Looking at these snippets has really brought me back. Amazing how it’s already been four years since I did the first character sketches for Guncats. It’s funny how I’m often surprised by how time flies since I rarely count it as dates but rather as improvement and things I’ve learned.
Seriously though. You should really check out RosakazandSamantha, the amazing people I worked with creating this comic!

Only 5 more days to go!
This excerpt is from one of my favourite pages of Guncats, and actually the half-a-page for which I did the initial two pages featuring Lan. I needed to figure out quick ways of doing space backgrounds without using photos (because that would’ve been too lazy even for me). And I think the end result is quite nice. Much better than I expected to honest.
“Guncats has beautiful, stylish art, a women-centered story, diverse creators and space puppies! It’s a mix of classic pulp sci-fi and old western storytelling with a modern twist.” So it’ll be pretty cool.

Spread the word! The first volume ofGuncats is finally out for preorder! Don’t know any better way to put it. The first issue will be out August 29., so if you like scifi/action spiced with occasional silliness and strong female protagonists you should definitely check it out!
Also, I will soon be posting another big comics announcement and probably some related art will follow! I really appreciate your continued support despite being swamped with so much work for the past year or so that I haven’t really been able to update as often as I’d like! You’re all awesome people and a huge inspiration for me!
We finally have an update on Guncats’ schedule! The comic will start publishing in August with four issues! I will most likely make more updates on this as the date approaches.
I will be putting reboot. aside for now. This is because the comic’s style and complexity are at the moment something I feel I could not keep up, considering my current financial situation.
I will move on to work on UNICPwhich is also my experiment on letting the story write itself. It follows the misadventures of Lan, a tech savant self proclaimed space pirate who dabbles in robotics and aerospace engineering.You can read the pages done so far in my DA, or under the UNICP tag on my blog. I start officially publishing UNICP once I have around 20 pages done.
I will also start working on Carnivale of Time, a comic really close to my heart that I have been writing and designing for closer to a decade now. Based on a dream I once had I had put CoT aside after I’d hit a wall with one major plot element a couple of years ago. However I had an epiphany about how to make it all work a couple of weeks ago, and am now itching to get working on the comic! I will tell you more once I have something visual to go alongside it. >;’D
And I finally got myself around to open an instagram account for myself. It is a great opportunity for anyone interested to see more of my sketches and WIPs.
So I was talking about layouts and page templates with 5-prime on DA, and said I’d share the links to the templates I use for Guncats and UNICP. And I thought that while I’m at it I might as well share them here, in case someone else might find these useful too, so here:
Guncats - single page (600dpi)
UNICP - page template (450dpi)
Guncats templates are based on the templates used by Action Lab, I just modified the opacities and added the thirds. For the spread I also added the buffer zone to the middle to account for the fact that in printed form some of the art will most likely be “lost” in the fold.
UNICP template is just for a single page, and due to the layout and style of the comic is lacking the buffer zone entirely, and only has the bleeds.
All templates are in .PSD-format and saved in resolution I use when working on the pages.

We’ve moved on to the second issue of Guncats and thought about posting some WIPs, sketches and the like from now on! Stay tuned for more on Guncats.

The first time drawing Cass and Iola in their casual wear!
So as off this week we’re finally free of the mess that was the first issues storyboard, which I did almost two years ago, and have moved to work on the second issue. From now on we’ll be posting occasional WIPs, process shots, cutouts and such. So that you can see the progress and maybe get some feel to how the issues will look when finished.
Also, as a side note I’d like to point out that while you can get all sorts of cool stuff from Ikea, for your laser containment cells/cages you might want to consider a bit more expensive manufacturer. Just to be on the safe side.

So been a while since I last had the time to log online, huh? I was enjoying my inktober and suddenly everything got busy as hell, and here’s the reason: We finally have the publisher and a contract for the first volume of Guncats! Woop! \o/
As a new member to the creative team behind the comic Rosaka will be joining me and Samantha as the second artist for the project!
I’m not sure how much time I can spend online while working on the comic, but I shall try to make occasional progress posts on my here and maybe upload some sneak peeks whenever I can. And of course I’ll do my best to occasionally upload some new not-Guncats-related art and just stay active too.
Should’ve posted this almost a week ago, but seeing it’s still a bit unfinished (the lettering is still pending for changes and polishing) I wasn’t sure how I was feeling about it. But welp, here it is: the page 1 of Guncats!
I’ve always enjoyed figuring out the expressions for non-human characters. :’D
Also, having a kind of an art jam with friends this weekend, so hopefully with a lil’ polishing I’ll have some random stuff to post next week for a change!

This is the first finished page of the new comic I mentioned in my text post: Guncats! Featuring the combined awesomeness of me and the Samantha Wallschlaeger. Definitely something to look forward to if you’re into comics!
I had a lot of fun with this! Having to figure out how to execute the effects and the style I’ve only ever done with actual ink on actual paper digitally. The result turned out pretty well, and I just love doing experimentation like this! Anyway, look forward to seeing/reading more about this project in the near future!
