His feet crunch across the frigid fallen leaves, away— away from her— and she acts without thinking. A dart, and she grabs his fisted hand, stopping him in his tracks. Their extended arms are a single bridge across an expanse of wet, frosty peaks of orange, yellow and brown. He glares at the connection, but doesn’t send his steely gaze to meet her eyes.
The line of his shoulders are taut like a tension wire.
“What,Granger?” He spits the words like a curse. “What do you want from me?”

I’m basing these off of Shakespeare’s sonnets, because why not? 500 words or less. Snippet below the read more.
The prompt: - “I was just struck by the overwhelming delight I feel at your existence and your hand was the most conveniently positioned thing to kiss in response to this thought process”
It was a challenging subject masquerading as a simple question.
If she was happy, then why weren’t they moving forward? Surely five years together with Draco in a public courtship after nearly as many in a private relationship should be enough— enough to know and commit. Enough to have a ring on her finger and a wedding planner scheduled.
If she wasn’t happy, then why was she still in the relationship? Surely there were plenty of people who would happily throw themselves at the feet of the Brightest Witch of Her Age. It wouldn’t be long for her to find such happiness.
This was what people meant when they asked her, journalists with the quick quills scratching, friends with careful expressions, family with calculating eyes.
According to the masses, there was no place for happiness in the middling.
