How to spot signs and symptoms of Breast Cancer

Reblog to literally save a life

whish they told us this in school, all they did was say “feel for lumps, you will know when you feel it”

This is important, even if it doesn’t work with your blog theme REBLOG IT!!!!

Women need to know this, not all of us have ever been told what we need to look out for!

yeah reblogging especially for my transmasc fellows who (like me) might be real uncomfortable with their chests and not know what to watch out for because we try to avoid this kind of thing (just me? okay)

I read all the health pamphlets as a child.

“Look for lumps,” they said, “watch out for unusual lumps and discharge.”

They did NOT say, “By the way, some areolas have little bumps on them. And some get pimple-ish things around the edges. Or on the nipples. These are not the lumps we are talking about, and that is not the discharge we are talking about.”

I spent years worrying about whether I had breast cancer. (I got exams, every year or two, and those were always fine and I stopped worrying. Mostly. But then a new tiny bump would show up on the edges and I would wonder IS THIS IT? …but not ask to see a doctor because 14-year-old girls worry about everything, all the time, and six months ago the doctor poked at my breasts and didn’t say anything alarming, so this is… probably fine? Like last time?)

I had a slightly more present and caring doctor tell me what I need to be looking for specifically are lumps that feel like peasorgrains of rice.

That distinction cleared so much up for me, like, breast tissue is all lumps and bumps normally (which is what mamories feel like to me). What the hell do they mean by lumps????

Now I know.

doctors hate her! This woman is experiencing symptoms that might point to a health problem and wants doctors to do something about it

I’m waiting for tech support with the mousepads. v-v’ Pillowcases - a few pre-ordered, more that I got in hopes of selling at next month’s cons - arrived though! Will unpack and photograph tomo- well, technically today? When the sunrises!

I have a plan to photograph ‘em using the big ol’ window upstairs to light them whilst they hang on the opposite side of the room. (Then put the pre-ordered pillowcases in boxes to await their companions for shipping! ‘w’)

Got a bunch of other stuff to photograph for my store and to show Patreon supporters the miscellaneous freebies they can pick for the thank you packages I’ve been itching to send out for the last, uh, 3 months? Longer? @___@ But I’ve been so low on spoons for so long and they’ve almost all gone to trying to manage/research my symptoms, cook/eat enough to not unintentionally lose weight again, do gentle exercises, and do the bare minimum (or less, really) house upkeep.

I have a tonnnn of specifics I could vent about with the health stuff but I’ll save that for another post.

I have had three respiratory tract infections this schoolyear, and each one of them has just completely knocked me out? I’ve been sick for a week now and I am finally getting better, but walking to the shop and back seriously exhausted me. And while the brain fog has lifted, there is still some left, and I’m afraid I re-sprained my rib (again) from coughing. It is like RTIs affect me more than they affect my 76-year-old mother.

WHY DID I ONLY RECENTLY LEARN ABOUT THE SALT LICK TEST?!?!

I swear, learning how to easily tell if you are deficient in salt has been Groundbreaking in learning how to care for my body.

For the uninitiated, if you feel dizzy or weirdly tired, or you cant seem to hydrate properly, no matter how much water you drink, you may easily be lacking salt.

Yes salt! The thing everyone tells you to try and minimize as much as possible. You are likely not getting enough, and there is an easy way to test it:

Go into you kitchen and grab some plain salt, flaky or fine preferably, since rough salt has less surface area, but it still works, just slower.

Grab a pinch of it and just drop it on your tongue, and let it dissolve on it. What does it taste like? This is just salt. Does it taste kinda mild? Slightly savoury even and actually quite good? Could you easily go for another pinch, just for the taste? You probably should, cause that’s your body telling you i Wants More Salt, it Neeeds it!

Do that a couple times over the next few hours, letting your body adjust in the meantime, until it suddenly tastes Too Salty. The same amount of salt, suddenlt tasting quite different, too salty, unpleasant, bad. Thats a sign that you no longer need more salt.

For me it took like two days from barely tasting the salt, to feeling much better and suddenly not wanting more salt.

This has recently helped me so much, why was i not taught this super simple but useful way to check in with my bodily needs?

Signs of low salt can also include nausea, headache, and muscle weakness. Seizures can also happen, but being aware these other symptoms can be signs of low salt and taking corrective action makes that less likely to happen. Also, over-hydrating yourself can cause low salt, but were going into summer so stay hydrated, but eat salt!

Reduced salt levels was the first side-effect they warned me off with my new meds. Its not something you want to fuck around and find out about.

#salt is good and we need it to live#this whole fatphobic eat clean healthy living as a cult mentality has fucked with us a bit I think#we’re afraid to eat things we need to actually stay alive

Fucking THIS!!!!!!

GOD

Heart has been in massive pain & I’ve been stuck in bed since Friday— was previously doing pretty well, too. Heart rate only stays down if I lay down. I have, like, so much anger that I have to just let go of or literally feel more pain thinking about it/being scared.

Just trying my best, but my husband? Man, he’s dong too much.
