I hope the Star Wars Separatists eventually get backstories more detailed than, “Worked on this planet for a while, got rich.”
It is said that most of Nute Gunray’s psychoses come from his terrible childhood in a massive communal hive where food was intentionally scarce so the children would have to fight and hoard in order to get enough nutrients for brain development, thus ensuring that only the strongest and greediest would survive to become great leaders and the rest become worker drones, but we don’t get to see any of that.
Wat Tambor left his home planet at a young age to work in a factory on Metalorn, but exactly how young was he? Did he leave when he was 55 or something, which is young by his species’ standards, but not by ours? Did he leave when he was a teenager to escape the religious insanity of his culture? Was he taken as a fetus as a test subject for someone else’s science experiments, and that’s the reason why he has no moral issue with experimenting on humans and other sentient beings?
San Hill’s parents were killed and he got adopted by Darth Plagueis, who taught him and pulled some strings so he would eventually become the chairman of the Banking Clan. None of this is ever expanded upon. Do you think the reason he is so obsessed with creating cyborgs like Grievous and Durge is because seeing Plagueis’s weird force projects had a lasting impact on him?
Yes yes yes!
Luceno in “Darth Plagueis” mentioned that after San Hill’a father died in Canted Circle, Plagueis took San Hill as his Protégé and help him to the chairmanship of IBC. I think Luceno definitely used some reference plot of San Hill’s doing with cyborg, to creat this relationship. (Yes but I need more story of San Hill and Hego Damask!)
He held Palpatine’s hooded gaze and watched the youth’s hands clench in fists of rage. “Careful, boy,” he said after a moment. “You are not the only being in this plush stateroom with the power to kill.”
The next issue of Muun Quarterly is Hot on the Press, guys!! Check it out, featuring Senator Sheev Palpatine of Naboo, photographed by the famous interplanetary celebrity chronicler Wagizhen https://wagizhen.tumblr.com/ .
So the artist of this image gave me permission to post my photoshop of it, so without further ado, here is Magister Hego Damask granting an exclusive interview to Muun Quarterly.
“Darth Plagueis the wise?? What are you doing in my dressing room? At this time of night? Right after my evening shower? And I am wearing nothing but my slippers and Dramasian shimmersilk robe. ”
The subtext between Hego and Sheev is not even subtext between this novel and the Darth Plagueis novel.
