I taught myself how to make a hat today!
It’s not perfect, cause I kept making adjustments as I went, but now I have a good idea of how hat construction goes, so the next one will be even simpler.
I am going to make so many hats, you guys.  This one will most likely be the most “normal” looking, I want to get weird.

Detail of lace from a corset produced in 1885, made from a fawn coloured twill, which has been interlined with hessian. It is supported by heavy string cording and has a spoon busk at the front. Part of the Symington corset collection.

This corset is made of sturdy herringbone weave fabric with lace decoration. The lace is crudely made with the loops all different sizes and large decorative stitches. It has been further enhanced with ribbon, although the top band of ribbon is now missing.

I have to say, ArmStreet photoshoots are a whole new experience! After 2.5 years of working for them (I work in marketing/ content), I’m finally getting up close and personal and seeing how things work. Once you’re here, it’s easy to see how the sheer quality of everything is upheld to such a high standard. It’s amazing. I’m currently in day two of our four day photoshoot, and I’m exhausted but excited – Ukraine is an amazing place and I love the people I work with!
