Lovely evening

A quite remarkably handsome young man, his features as near to perfection as any yet seen here, reclining in the pleasant peace of the hills near Taormina, a tantalising hint of a smile on his lips as he arches his back catlike in the sun. The dark drape of fabric preserving his modesty does little to detract from the sensuality of his pose, and the photograph remains as seductive as any more explicit offering in Guglielmo Plüschow’s catalolgue.

A fine photograph taken in Tunisia by Rudolf Lehnert in the early part of the 20th Century. Whilst much of his work concentrates on portraiture or displays a documentary style as he captures scenes of local life, historic architecture, and traditional dress, this particular image stands out as singularly and perhaps deliberately erotic - the long look into one another’s eyes could be taken for something far from innocent and platonic.

Enjoying the secluded riverside on a glorious afternoon, cool water and dappled shade, a pleasure today as it has always been; this Plüschow photograph captures the atmosphere perfectly!

Basking lazily in the Mediterranean sun, two handsome young men photographed by Vincenzo Galdi. I believe that’s a lobster pot, perhaps these models were fishermen earning a little extra income by posing for photographs (or maybe Galdi just chose to place a prop there)

Is it just my imagination, or does the tanned young fellow on the right seem to be staring directly at a certain part of his companion? That’s no detached gaze into the middle distance, dear boy - whether it’s admiration or jealousy I cannot tell but that’s definitely where his attentions are focused!

Unlike many of von Gloeden’s nudes posed together, where any faintly suggestive sexual undertones are subtly discreet and mostly in the eye of the beholder, this stunning photograph stands out as undoubtedly & gloriously homoerotic. A passionate, intimate embrace, one’s lips to the other’s cheek - is it a softly whispered sweet nothing, or a chaste kiss we can’t quite see?

I’m sorry, sir - your deeply dark seductive come-to-bed eyes, whilst alluring in the extreme, cannot be taken at all seriously when you’re wearing that. One of Vincenzo Galdi’s most sexy and daring models, early 20th Century Rome.

An utterly fantastic submission from a reader who would prefer to remain anonymous - 19th century pornography in colour! This is no modern colourisation through digital means, but hand-tinting carefully applied at the time; a process usually seen in subtle pinking of the cheeks for portraits, or to colour the flowers on sentimental postcards -this is the first time I’ve ever seen it used to enhance an explicit smutty scene! Turn of the century titilation courtesy of Vincenzo Galdi, a smutty delight in an era where male nudity was generally presented as artistic innocence. Instead, he relishes the opportunity to provide startlingly saucy erotica featuring handsome Italian men, well-built, and often extremely well-endowed. We’ve seen a similar single shotbefore.

His shoulders enfolded in a thick cloak, this Galdi model shows not the slightest bit of shyness in flaunting his lower half, legs parted to expose all to the sun, and the viewer’s admiring eye. Vincenzo Galdi has seated his anonymous models on these dark volcanic rocks before, here andhere.

Truly living up to the title Antique Erotic, this little low-quality scrap of pornography dates back to the end of the 19th Century. I should love to see a finer copy, though even in this poorly reproduced form, it is possible to recognise both the setting and the stars : we saw them here putting a funnel to extraordinarily inventive use!

A new find from a familiar set of 19th Century pornography - clearly intended as the first in the series depicting the seduction of a well-dressed young man, as he is significantly more dressed at this point than the others I have posted thus far!

A second stunning photograph from Rudolf Lehnert, a more revealing continuation of an open-air yet intimate scene begun here. Though we may wish to peer more closely at the models themselves, the overall composition is expertly done, a fine tableau!

A new little snippet of smut for this set from 1880s France - how astonishing it is that such explicit content has survived so long in secrecy, before finding a new audience in the 21st century.
