A second photograph of this trio, posing for von Gloeden; sadly in need of a little de-creasing, but still a gorgeous image of male affection and intimacy at the end of the 19th century. If anyone has an unspoilt copy they would like to share with our ever-appreciative audience, please do send it in!

A much-improved copy of a photograph I’ve shared here before, three handsome young men pose for Wilhelm von Gloeden in the late 19th Century, their expressions transforming this into something uniquely beautiful, and open to interpretation - innocent platonic affection, or lustful longing? The model on the left certainly seems to lean toward the latter.

A fine example of Vincenzo Galdi’s unreservedly raunchy homoerotic scenes from the early years of the twentieth century.
There’s some debate on whether we see here a cleverly constructed duplication of the same ravishing model photographed in two poses, or twins - the profiles appear to differ in the other shot, though that may just be the angle of the heads, and it seems to me that the man on the left both times has tanned legs, while the one on the right, does not. And yet their bodies are so remarkably alike that they must surely be the same man twice! A puzzle indeed. What do you think?

A regrettably small but undoubtedly smutty photograph from around 1910; it is always such a pleasant surprise when more pornography from this era comes to light that even a tiny image, of admittedly a rather unprepossessing pose, should appear!

TitledThree Homosexual Men, this early erotic photograph, though faint, is a welcome addition to this collection, as genuinely pornographic content from the era is regrettably (though perhaps understandably) a little scarce!

Entwined Nude Young Men, a 19th century highly homoerotic photograph attributed to Wilhelm von Gloeden - perhaps one of his unsigned prints, but not proven so : I tend to side with the doubters, for his few known studio shots do not include this particular painted backdrop.

We have seen this pair before, getting to grips with one another in an indoor approximation of a countryside scene, here they appear in a boudoir setting though a very similar situation! Few of these deliberately titilating vintage photographs have survived, each find is exciting indeed - all the more interesting when we can recognise the models from other shots.

Three men lounge in intimate embrace, in a New Zealand parlour at the turn of the century. Taken by ex-patriate Englishman Robert Gant, who amassed a beautiful and extremely touching catalogue of work between 1885 and 1915, a world of male beauty and affection which resonates so deeply today - a fascinating article can be found here.

A splendidly salacious donation from Yanni, who has found a much bigger and clearer print of one of these “Arabian Nights” photographs which featured here three years ago. 

Much as I love Vincenzo Galdi’s striking and often erotically charged photography, it is an equal delight to see him as a lovely young man modelling for his mentor, and lover, Guglielmo Plüschow. Few of the Arcadian photographers’ models became so involved in the process of creating images, and Galdi alone went on to work as a professional photographer in his own right. Here he sits in the ruined ancient Roman city of Pompeii, around 1895 - note his toes tucked neatly around the back of his calf!

A pity this picture by von Gloeden is so small, I’ve tried to find a larger copy but this will have to suffice.

A truly adorable pair portrait here - I love the affectionate closeness of the pose, the hint of a soft smile on the fellow in the lighter jacket, the slight head-tilt of the other, and lovely button-up ankle boots I am coveting most terribly right now. Completely forgot I ever bookmarked this one, what a joy to find it waiting to be shared when I happened across it again.

I’m reasonably sure this is my particular favourite of Vincenzo Galdi’s beautiful male models once more, reaching an impressive seven photographs of him alone - perhaps he was a favourite of Mr Galdi, too. I say ‘alone’, as we also have the pleasure of seeing him in the company of another gentleman.
