Niushan Huting
Niushan Huting (牛山呼庭) is a private spot along East Coast line of Taiwan. It’s about forty minutes ride south from Hualien City. It’s a great place to see the great view Pacific Ocean and Coastal Mountain Range with nobody disturbing you. You can sit on the shore and relieve yourself from stressful busy life. You can have a cup of coffee in the café and chat with your friends leisurely. You can appreciate some lovely wood decorations in the garden. Most importantly, you are supposed learn the spirit of this spot: slowing down your pace and doing nothing. That’s why you are travelling here.

Yunshanshui
Yunshanshui (雲山水) means “ Cloud, Mountain, Water ” in Chinese. It’s a beautiful land with dreamy lake and tree. At the entrance of the Yunshanshui, you can see big Royal Palm along roadside. When the sky is clear, you can see the reflected image of Central Mountain Range on the lake, making the scenery so peaceful and tranquil. Liushidan Mountain (Sixty Stone Mountain)
Liushidan Mountain (六十石山) is famous for Daylily blossom festival from August to September annually. The beautiful land covered with golden Daylily flowers (金針花) impresses every visitor in eastern Taiwan. A pavilion named Wanyou pavilion is situated at the top of the mountain. In Chinese it means “ sorrow forgetting ”. You will forget all the sorrows and worries at the view of vast rift valley landscape.
Even if August and September is the hot season in Liushidan Mountain, the landscape in off-season with more quiet and mysterious scenery is also attractive, especially during sunset and sunrise period. In the evening, you can see many stars in the night sky as well as the night view of the east valley. In winter, the rapeseed flowers look like the golden carpet on the rift valley. After the great view of sunset on the mountain top, enjoying the Antong Hot Springs (安通溫泉) below Liushidan Mountain would definitely be a great experience in eastern Taiwan.

Baqi Gazebo
Loacted at hill on Hwy11 with a hairpin turn, Baqi Gazebo (芭崎觀景台) commends a great view of Pacific Coast Line and Jiqi Beach. The place is silent, most visitors stop by here for an easy relax. You can buy a popsicle at the vender in hot summer and enjoy it by blue and lovely ocean view. Doing nothing and medicating yourself, you will have a great time enjoying a slow pace lifestyle in east coast line.

Zhangyuan Boat-shaped Church
Boat-shape Church (船型教會) is a lovely Presbyterian Church situated at Zhangyuan village in east coast line. The original church was destroyed by typhoon in 1990. Local villagers volunteer themselves to raise the money for reconstructing the church. They came upon an idea of building a church in the shape of Noah’s Ark. As what you see now, Zhangyuan Boat-shape Church is one of the most beautiful church in Taiwan as well as the private spot that you cannot easily find in official tour website or tour guidebooks.

Saoba Stone Pillars
Megalithic complex (巨石文化) such as Stonehenge in England or stone status in Easter Island could be found in certain place on earth and the mysterious cause of the formation always remains unclear. Here, in eastern Taiwan, there is one spot related to those unsolved mystery called Saoba Stone Pillars (掃叭石柱). Located on a mountain slope north of the Wuhe Terrace, the giant stone is a restricted area for local aborigines of Amis Tribe. The place commends a great view of Hongye River valley with beautiful surroundings of mountains. Standing by the pillars, you can medicate yourself and probably figure out how and why the stone was built three thousand years ago.

The Tropic of Cancer Landmark (East Coast Line)
The Tropic of Cancer (北回歸線標) is the position in the Northern Hemisphere farthest from the Equator where the sun rays can shine directly down on the Earth. At noon on 22th Jun. every year, when the sun‘s ray shine down vertically on the Tropic of Cancer, the vertical pole shows no shadow at all. There are total three Tropic of Cancer Marker in Taiwan, the others two are located in Chiayi and East Rift Valley, respectively.

Shitiping
As one of the most famous attractions in east coast, Shitiping (石梯坪) is known for its special geology of sea terrain including the wave-cut platforms, uplifted coral reefs, cliffs and the potholes. You can see the tropical fish in tide pools from potholes and other marine life dwell here. For seafood lover, you can enjoy the freshest seafood in the restaurant near Shitiping Fishing Harbor. Walami
Located in Yushan National Park (玉山國家公園), Walami Trail (瓦拉米步道) is featured with waterfall, green forest as well as lots of suspension bridge along the way. Either an easy half-day hike or a two-day in-depth hike would offer you a great experience in eastern Taiwan.
For tourist who would like to enjoy a pleasant and easy hike. You can start from trailhead and pass through two suspension bridges. After two kilometers walk, you will reach Shanfeng Waterfall (山風瀑布). The cooling water spread from the fall will bring you the double-cooling treat after one and half hour exercise.
For an in-depth traveler who might want to continue forward and explore more about this trail, permit from both Yushan National Park and National Police Agency are needed. Normally for a two-day hike, the destination on day1 would be a lovely solar powered Walami Cabin (瓦拉米山屋) with beautiful surroundings. It takes around six hour to complete a 13.6 kilometers hike with six hundred meters ascend. On the way you will see the splendid river valley landscape of the Lakulaku River in Chiaxin (佳心) as well as a historical trace called Kexipanan Memorial (喀西帕南紀念碑), which is a plaque commemorating the death of a Japanese police officer when Bunun Tribe fought with Japanese during the Japanese Colonial Era. In addition, the place where lovely Walami Cabin situates is a base of Japanese including a police station, a hotel, a school and a clinic. If you find some Japanese bottles, tools or coins in the grass, don’t be surprised.

The vibrant hostel might look a bit more like a trendy coffee house at the very first glance. Backpackers from all over the world gather in the communal area on the second floor, sitting on the bar chairs by the enormous floor-to-ceiling window and looking out at the busy train station that transports travelers from different parts of Taiwan. As a matter of fact, Wow Café & Bar on the ground floor does provide beer, beverages and all kinds of tourist information for those who just arrive in Hualien. Two shared computers are available by the reception desk, and the language setting is at both Mandarin and English for the convenience of local and international visitors alike. Wow Youth Hostel offers a number of room types to accommodate different party sizes from private rooms to shared dormitory rooms with either single or double beds (ideal for couples, family and friends). Guests don’t have to wait forever to take a shower as all rooms include modern en-suite bathrooms, and there is even additional shared bathrooms on the fourth and fifth floors. Understanding that metal bed frames with the squeaking noise can be really annoying and may even deprive you of sleep, the hostel uses the bunk beds with pine frames to make sure that every guest has a good night’s sleep. Every bunk has its own reading light, privacy curtain, universal socket and electronic locker.
「洄瀾窩」的多元房型，能符合各種不同的族群。除了傳統的背包單人床外，背包雙人床非常適合伴侶、親子或閨蜜一同入住（且貼心提供兩條棉被），而豪華雙人房及兩床雙人房則能同時滿足經濟與隱私上的訴求。背包房內雖沒有浴缸，但房內獨立衛浴卻便利不少，因同房室友不多（四到八人），不用花大把時間排隊等廁所。即便如此，四五樓的背包房外仍有另一組公共衛浴，可節省房客的等待時間。「洄瀾窩」不使用廉價的鐵床架，採用的松木訂做木製床不會一翻身就發出惱人的噪音，確保房客都能一夜好眠。另外，每個床位皆設置獨立床頭燈、萬用插座及專屬感應鎖大型置物櫃，提供每個旅客安全的住宿環境。
The management team ensures that the hostel is jam packed and full of fun loving travelers and that creativity can be spotted around every corner. Entering the train-themed elevator puts a smile on your face and gives you a sense of embarking on an unknown adventure. The hostel is never short of interactivity. Upon stepping out of the elevator, you will find a giant map of Hualien City covered with sticky notes with recommended attractions/restaurants/secret spots written on them, and these are all contributed by the travelers themselves. The blackboard on each floor serve as a canvas for creativity, where guests are more than welcomed to get their creative juices flowing. 54 rooms are spread over 9 floors, but the hostel encourages the guests to reduce carbon emissions by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Therefore, a local mural artist was invited to paint the staircases on each floor with impressive 3D images of seven wonders of Hualien, including Qingshui Cliff, Taroko Gorge, Qixingtan, Lintianshan, Mataian Wetland, Xiuguluan River and Liushidanshan — all the way from the north to the south of Hualien. Even though you don’t get to visit every single attraction in Hualien, a tour around Wow Youth Hostel will make up for it. The rooftop is another highlight here, which allows you to appreciate the beauty of the surrounding lush mountains as well as some F-16 Fighting Falcons tearing up the sky if you’re lucky enough.

On the second floor, you will find a “honest shop” that offers soft drinks, beer, snacks, cookies and instant noodles, but the cash register is nowhere to be seen. Instead, there is only an old farebox for shoppers to put the amount of money that corresponds with the value of their purchase. The result? According to the manager Howard, the honest shop (almost) never takes a loss ever since its existence, and Wow Youth Hostel continues to have faith in the basic goodness of people even in this immense and fast-growing world.
更有趣的是，二樓的大廳角落甚至藏有一間「誠實商店」，提供飲料、啤酒、甜品、餅乾與泡麵等冷熱食，「洄瀾窩」相信客人的自主性，只要挑選自己需要的商品，再將對應的金額自行放進公車投錢筒中，「誠實商店」就能永久經營下去。而實際上，這間無人看管的商店的營業額也幾乎一直都是小賺呢，說「洄瀾窩」是間充滿溫度的青年旅舍，真是一點也不為過。
