I like to think Zan has always been scared of thunderstorms
Hyness was the one to comfort her every time, and so one day after their exile when he turns her away when she’s really scared, claiming he’s “busy with work” that’s when she realizes something is really wrong with him. She hides her fear, burying it as deep as she can and dealing with it in private so as to not reveal weakness or burden her sisters. This persists even after Star Allies, when all of them are living on Popstar in the process of redeeming themselves for their crimes against the planet and universe
Then one day there’s a huge thunderstorm and Zan has her little hideaway ready to go. She has a blanket and a quiet room where she can go wait out the storm when there’s a commotion downstairs— it’s Hyness, tearing up the castle looking for her. She rushes to see what’s wrong, only to be surprised by him wrapping her in a big hug. “I was worried,” he says. “I know you hate storms, and I didn’t want you to be all alone.”
And that’s when she knows the real Hyness is finally back
