Pain in the Side

CW: Field Medicine

“C’mon,” Mac strained, “Just a little further.”

“It’s fine,” James grit through his teeth. “I’m fine.”

He wasn’t fine. There was a knife in his side, and getting him through the front door had been a battle. He was losing too much blood and there was nowhere else to go. Mac had to fix him quickly. He could hardly hold himself up anymore, skin pale, his weight was divided between Mac and Ivy, each of them serving as crutches at his sides, Mac taking the brunt, Ivy for balance.

Prompt:Honeybee by Steampowered Giraffe

Vibes First Listen:

  • Soft, Somber, a little Mournful to start
  • The harmonies feel like a wedding dance
  • I’m desperately ignoring the visuals of the music video because I don’t understand what’s happening XD
  • I’m ignoring the lyrics in favor of vibes

Please let me know if this needs any specific tags! Its pretty mild and cheesy but I’m never adverse to tagging things for my friends <3

“Are we really going to do this?” Janus asked, for possibly the millionth time that day. Virgil rolled his eyes and continued carefully braiding the long, pristine, golden locks of hair in his hands. He chose not to answer, letting the other man fret in silence.

“Janny, it’s a little late to ask that now.” Remus’s nasally voice came from behind the pair; he was dressed in a decidedly tidy suit, and Janus watched his reflection in the mirror as he did his best to fidget and not muss himself up.

As much as Janus enjoyed his friend, they were taking professional photos later, which were expensive enough without having to edit out mud and whatever else Remus could cover himself with in a short amount of time.

Janus absently ran his hands over the bodice of his dress, feeling the careful embroidery of beads and lace. The texture was calming, and the look divine, of course. A careful galaxy of golds, purples, and reds, spread across a midnight blue expanse. An almost rainbow gas giant pulled from the sky and wrapped delicately around Janus’ lithe frame.

Roman had certainly outdone himself.

Chapter One

Author’s Note: And now you all love big brother Virgil too.  Sorry, I don’t make the rules.  (Also, @star-crossed-shipper you asked to be tagged!)

Chapter 4/4:

Virgil was immensely relieved on learning that none of them would be living with their parents while the trial was going on, though he didn’t think the furious looks on their faces when the three of them were taken away would ever stop haunting his nightmares.

He hadn’t actually gotten a chance to tell either Roman or Remus what was going to happen before it started happening, and he regretted that the second both of them turned to him with such scared looks on their faces as they were all walked out of the house.

“It’s okay,” he said, pulling them both close as soon as he got a chance.  “It’s gonna be okay.  We’re not going anywhere you haven’t been before, okay?”

“Virgil, what’s going on?” Roman whispered.

“We’re going to go stay with Patton and his Dads for a while,” Virgil said, with the best attempt at a smile he could manage.

“What, why?” Remus asked.  He sounded confused and worried, but he didn’t sound upset, which would help Virgil sleep a little easier that night.

“I’ll explain on the way, alright?”

He made sure to sit in the back of the car along with them, so when the social worker taking them to Thomas’ house started to drive, they could talk in private and without any of them having to turn around or lean back.
