PLEASE REBLOG THIS WARNING

HEY GUYS

The new Venom movie has a scene with intense flashing lights (the lab entry scene) and I received no warnings and had to leave (just for that scene) as I am epileptic!!! PLEASE share this since I’ve seen NO warnings being shared and this is very important and can prevent people from having seizures etc during the film.

When you’re just starting out in tabletop roleplaying games, something a lot of GMs have trouble with is demanding player buy-in.

They think they have to let everybody create whatever character they want, and it’s their job to somehow corral that herd of cats into a working game.

This is not, in fact, the case.

Every tabletop game is about something, even if it’s as simple as “a group of people who explore dungeons, fight monsters, and get treasure”. It’s not only okay to insist that your players provide characters who can play nice with the game’s premise, it’s practically required to get anywhere.

As a GM, it’s totally okay to say: “This is a game about a group of people having adventures. Your character must be the sort of person who can function in a team setting in general, and as a member of this particular team in specific. They can be the sort of person who makes great pretence of being a loner, then ends up working as a team player anyway - every team needs its Wolverine - but if you actually try to go off and do your own thing all the time, or if you refuse to cooperate with other characters because you’ve dreamed up an irreconcilable personality conflict, you’re being a dick. Don’t be a dick.”

And it’s not just about group dynamics, either - it’s okay to demand buy-in for the game’s setting and concept, too. If you’re running a gritty, high-tension conspiracy thriller, and somebody wants to play as a literal cartoon character, Who Framed Roger Rabbit style, it’s okay to say: “Yeah, maybe hang onto that one for our next campaign.”

(And no, that’s not a hypothetical example - someone actually tried to pull that stunt in a game I was part of. Obviously if everybody submits cartoon characters, you should recognise that your players are in the mood for something different than what you’ve proposed; if their ideas are all over the map, however, insisting that they get their asses on the same page before proceeding is wholly reasonable.)

“I was just roleplaying my character” is never an excuse for being contrary, because it was the player who created the character in the first place. Everything their character does is ultimately on them, because they chose to define them in such a way that roleplaying them correctly would demand being a dick to the GM and the other players.

Don’t be a dick - and as a GM, don’t be afraid to call dickery when you see it.

hey full offense but the ‘use the right pronouns even if the person is horrible!’ statements arent made to coddle horrible ppl, its saying ‘dont view correct pronouns as a fucking privilege that can be taken away once people decide you’ve fucked up enough’, misgendering someone on purpose is transphobic no matter what bc it equates transphobia as a ‘punishment’ for bad people, pronouns are a part of baseline human respect, its that simple

If a black person did something horrible, it would still be racist to call them the n word. If a gay man did something horrible it would still be homophobic to call them the f slur. If a trans person did something horrible it would still be transphobic to deadname them, misgender them, or call them the t slur. It’s not that complicated.

you don’t have to cancel everyone the second they misstep or do something dumb but you also DON’T have to defend everything that your fave does. you can say “hey this particular thing sucked” without getting into this all-or-nothing mentality. you are not an extension of the things you like. you can think freely and criticize the things (and people) that you like, and a criticism of something you like is not something that you should take personally or feel the need to correct/defend.

I’m begging y'all to understand this:

The U.S. mostly has a first-past-the-post voting system. The candidate with the most votes wins and there are no prizes for second place. If a district goes 49% Democratic and 51% Republican, the Republicans win the district

This makes a two party system almost inevitable because in a system with more than two parties, the instant one party gets the support of over a third of the population, the other parties cannot compete unless they join forces

And a two party system means, crucially, that if you want to get more voters, there are only two ways to get them:

  • Get more people to vote that ordinarily wouldn’t vote at all.
  • Take voters from the other party.

That’s it.

The reason Democrats are “not radical enough” is that, if they can’t turn non-voters into voters, to get more people to vote Democratic, they have to appeal to Republicans enough to convince them to change sides. There’s nowhere else to get people from.

The reason the country seems to “skew” Republican over time is not because of Democrats caving to goalpost moving, it’s because of gerrymandering and our system prioritizing land area over people’s votes

If 51% of voters in my district vote Republican, it’s a republican district. If 51% of districts are Republican districts, the state is a “red state.” That state can end up with all republican representatives even if there are barely more Republicans than Democrats

Being more spread out makes it easier for Republicans to dominate districts, too. It’s like the land is voting instead of the people.

Anti-voting rhetoric will be the death of the left. Literally.

Not a single fucking Republican voted to protect roe. It was fucking overturned in the first place bc trump got three Supreme Court appointments.

Every fucking thing wrong in this country is almost certainly the result of Republicans being in power. In 2020, Texas cut half of the polling places in black neighborhoods, and doubled them in white ones, regardless of population. It was Republicans bitching about mail in voting, and constantly, constantlyfearmonger about voter fraud. Literally, their platform is about making civil rights harder to practice.

Would you like to know why? It’s because Republican politicians know better than anyone that higher voter participation means higher republican loss.

But what do I see from the online left, champions of the oppressed?

“Voting doesn’t do anything, the parties are the same, the system is rigged, etc, etc”

Don’t sit here and tell me you give a fuck about marginalized people if you aren’t ready to march your ass to the voting booth and vote out the party actively stripping their rights away.

Protest, donate, community build, unionize, and vote, vote, vote.

By the time direct action is the only option, it will be too fucking late.

If voting didn’t do anything, nobody would be trying to stop you from doing it

wilburian:

Hey, since pride months coming up soon, I wanted to remind everyone that terf and exclusionist circles will try to cause a controversy online like they do every year– be it a “new more inclusive flag” for an already existing identity and accuse the original of bigotry, (just last year, we had a “new” pan flag made by terfs because the maker of the original flag supported he/him lesbians) starting hate campaigns against certain identities, etc– they will pretend to be concerned little lgbt+ members and they will pretend to bevictims to make us believe them and segregate online queer communities.

They will do this on pride month specifically because that is when queerness is more talked about and celebrated, thus giving them more attention if they come out with a (albeit fake) bigotry accusation.

Be aware of them. If any sexuality’s or its flag’s legitimacy and inclusivity is being questioned by the masses; do research before you follow what you see on your dash, on an instagram info presentation being reposted, or on a carrd link. (All of which can & are made by anonymous people you don’t know the motivations of.)

Because no matter how smart you are, you might be following a crypto-terf (terf who hides their beliefs to get non-terfs to agree to their ideology in more subconscious ways) without knowing and if you are, they– and sadly the queer people they can trick– will be putting their fake facades on your social media.

Again. Do your research. Don’t blindly believe an account’s words just because you’ve followed them for a while. Be aware.

this is like just a fourth of a whole musical medley addressing that you can’t live like the simpsons anymore. harsh :(

For those wondering, the rest of the episode’s songs cover such topics as kids turning to social media as their income source, Fox News skewing the votes of senior citizens by just plain frightening them, that Bart’s generation has little option but to hope they can destroy and rebuild the system, and that if you do want a good middle class job, almost the only reliable one left is being a firefighter.

Moe also raps in case you needed to know this

We watched the episode and there’s this bit where when asked what to do about the shitty state of everything the janitor who leads the song pauses and says ‘burn it’.

That bit gave me chills. Because The Simpsons for the past 15 years or more has been a fairly good barometer of American popular opinion. Some folks are gonna be like ‘the Simpsons went radical!!!’, but, the Simpsons doing this shows that this is an opinion that is now -normal-. Two generations have been brutally disenfranchised and things are pushing towards a boiling point. I have 0 clue what that boiling point will look like but this is like steam raising from the pot.

Ah, you have articulated my own thoughts as a Gen X who has literally watched The Simpsons from the beginning. I still watch it, and I chuckle when someone claims nobody watches or likes the Simpsons anymore. It’s a Sunday night ritual. Remembering how anti-capitalist they were then, and seeing such a poetically logical end game now, gives me chills as well. I’ve been recommending “Poorhouse Rock” to everyone I know regardless of their views on the show.

“Disability rights activists have…highlighted the fact that focusing on ensuring equal access to workplaces does not address the fact that not everyone can work. Some people cannot handle a part-time job, much less a forty-hour workweek. But by tying social standing and economic citizenship so closely to the ability to work, American social welfare policy leaves little space for those who are not able to labor.”

I know for a fact no one in an emergency would ever call on these losers for help. Useless.

Like the conservatives got all this via voting but tell me how voting is meaningless?

a rabid white minority gets shit done BECAUSE they have no hesitation about identifying institutionalized power as the most important power, BECAUSE they don’t whine about the terrible ideological burden posed by casting a ballot

but sure. voting mysteriously becomes meaningless & seeking institutionalized power becomes silly cringe behavior only when it’s NOT primarily white men seeking power to act in the interests of white men at the expense of everyone else. sure.

One thing to remember however: this didn’t happen overnight.

This has happened over forty years of slowly picking away at democracy with votes and legislation and policy and conviction. Forty years of slow wearing down, of teaching Americans that they’re special and that they deserve peace and prosperity and never having to make hard choices between the bad and the worse.

It’s true that your vote in the next elections may make little difference this year. But the votes that the conservatives gained in 1980 didn’t make much difference either: at least, not that year. But they kept voting. And they kept voting. And they persuaded others to keep voting along with them.

And forty years later, you’re staring down the barrel of a dysfunctional democracy, and what looks like it’s very much going to turn into a Christian theocracy. (I am deeply cynical that it will stop at Roe v Wade. Deeply cynical.)

Do you have the courage to stand up and fight for the rest of your life? Do you have the vision to plant trees for an orchard you’ll never get to enjoy? Do you understand the weight of one vote and one vote and one vote and one vote and one vote, year after year after election after election after decade after decade?

Or do you just want “one and done”?

The dude in the tweet above wants “one and done”. He’s not willing to put his shoulder to the wheel and work for his democracy. Look, he’s not unusual in that - the truth is that most Americans aren’t. They were taught that the world they inhabited wasn’t just a privilege that they enjoyed but their right to have and to keep without expending any effort to ensure that it remained so.

It’s true that after the next election, things will look no better than before the election. But keep pushing at the election after that, and the election after that, and the election after that…

Don’t want to expend the energy?

Then STFU about the broken system! It was your lack of expended energy - or the energy you spent persuading others that ‘marginal change’ was just as bad as ‘no change at all’ (*coughs*NeverHillary*coughs*) - that contributed to the broken system today. Put in the work - put it in over the time period that the conservatives who are now shaping your world against your wishes did - and you might very well see the results.

The current state of American politics didn’t happen overnight, but it did happen.

Changing it won’t happen overnight, but it will happen - ifyou work to make it happen.

If the left stops voting then the right would just dominate and it will get worse.

Simply voting for the president won’t matter. You need to vote in local and state elections. You have to pay attention to the stances of the candidates.

Go to primaries. Support progressive candidates and push for them. Help do campaign work. Help advertise the stances.

Also pay attention to what is going on and voice your opinions to them. Especially for local issues.

I have this fantasy that I can go back in time and get everyone who voted in 2008 to also have voted in 2010. Imagine how much better the country would have been had the GOP not had any power at all after the Bush debacle?

But nope. We handed the house to the GOP a mere 2 years after starting to clean up their mess. And as a result, almost nothing got done and the government was shut down a couple times.

The GOP is going full fash. Getting them out of power is, like, the very least you can do to stop them.

  1. Roe v. Wade being overturned was only able to happen because conservatives have a 6 to 3 supreme court majority.
  2. Conservatives have that majority because they got to place 3 judges.
  3. They got to place three judges because they won the 2016 presidential election.

The Roe v. Wade decision can be traced back to a single critical election loss using only three logical steps and morons like this are still saying voting doesn’t matter. This was an election in which many self identified progressives chose not to vote, and looking at the numbers it could have been won if more progressives had voted. If this doesn’t cement a decision to vote in every single election you possibly can for the rest of your life then you simply are not paying attention.

This is a particularly dramatic and straightforward example of the principle talked about above: Elections shape the future, not the present, and we often don’t feel the real consequences of a win or loss for years. Every election matters.

If you do not strategically vote you are not progressive. Strategically you are centrist.

anyone who tries to convince you there’s no point in voting is ACTIVELY TRYING TO SUPPRESS YOUR VOTE.

gif of character Liz Lemon from tv show 30 Rock dragging herself across the floor complaining, "Why are my arms so weak? It's like i did that push-up last year for *nothing*."

^^ This is what these “democratic politicians are ineffectual, therefore voting is useless” idiots sound like.

i think that unless you have experienced life while being actually dead broke or near it at least once, its hard to really grasp at how, in many places but in america in particular, ‘having money’ is the access card that allows you to participate, materially, in being fully human. even in non-crisis situations, situations where a paycheck is on the way, you have enough of some kind of food to make it, and you aren’t in any danger of losing shelter, even if you hardly spend any money when you do have it, the state of being completely without money is a state of  being hyperaware, constantly, of how much smaller your world is all of a sudden and how many basic aspects of mobility and enrichment are off limits to you. its profoundly psychologically agitating to self worth and well-being even sans the trauma of worse states of deprivation, and i don’t think a lot of people who have lived comfortably without this experience understand that there’s a critical difference between ‘having less money’ and ‘having no money’ when talking about related issues.

idk maybe it’s because i’m getting chunkier and just feel happy with my body but

is there something about how an intersection of feedism and body positivity can exist? like we as feeders shouldn’t look at body pos models/activists like we do models. but ignoring the entire feedism community is not great on the body pos side, i think

idk it’s like obviously we, as a society, need to not be fatphobic. but it feels like the movement focuses on people who are naturally plus sized or gained because of illness. what is there to say about those who CHOOSE to be fat? not even choose to stay fat but whose ideal bodies ARE plus sized.

this is kind of just rambling and i’m not even that chunky lol but just a thought i’ve been having. what do you guys think!

hi! this is a great topic and i have a lot to say!!

buckle up, cuz this one’s a doozy.

firstly i’d like to point out that the body positivity movement no longer serves fat people, it works against them. the movement was initially created in the 1960s for fat people by fat people (fat queer jewish women, in fact!) this group had a political agenda, calling attention to the real oppression that fat people face, criticizing the dieting/weight loss industry and how it controls women, and putting an end to medical discrimination and fatphobic systems. unfortunately, this message was boiled down and made digestible to the accepted members of society - “fat people are entitled to basic human rights, respect, and recognition” got squashed and molded into “all bodies are beautiful!!”

(see the fat liberation manifesto by judy freespirit & alderbaran, 1973)

body positivity’s roots are in the fat liberation movement, but the two couldn’t be more different. to preach only the message of “you should love your body!” reverts the issues that fat people face to a problem of mindset, rather than a systemic problem that keeps them oppressed. instead of telling fat people not to feel bad about their bodies, everyone should be working to remove the anti-fat attitudes and systems that make them feel bad in the first place!

but how did this happen?? well, in the 21st century, diet culture and beauty standards are still raging across the country. everyone has body image issues, including thin people. the message “every body is beautiful” sounds very appealing to people who have felt bad about their bodies. and when a space made for a minority includes the majority, the cycle happens again and the majority oppresses the minority. thin people start to take hold of the movement and center themselves.

body positivity becomes about learning to love your “flaws” - and those “flaws” are rolls, stretchmarks, etc. anything that (gasp!) resembles a fat body! it is entirely fatphobic in its rhetoric. thin people are capitalizing off of this without taking actual steps to examine or unlearn their fatphobia, while silencing fat people and their struggles. i could speak more on this and talk about how there has become a new standard of beauty within the body positive movement (for example, chubby/small fat people & people with hourglass figures are more accepted than bigger people, and this happens because thin people are at the center!) but i’ll just get on with it and explain why that is and how it relates to @sapphicfeeder’s original post.

so, why doesn’t body positivity intersect with feedism?

short answer: the medicalization of fat bodies + the moralization of health.

too often i see people saying “i’m body positive, BUT i will not glorify ob*sity.” please view this post to see how this statement is wrong in so many ways.

i’m just going to assume that if you’re fat positive, you know that body size is not a diagnosis and there are a bajillion reasons as to why someone is fat - most of which have nothing to do with diet and exercise. (if you’d like more info on this, contact me!) anyway, “ob*sity” is a dehumanizing term used to target and medicalize larger body types, typically in the absence of any actual disease. it’s fatphobic fear-mongering.

most uneducated folks put the blame on fat people for their size - saying it’s their fault, if they’d just diet and exercise the right way they’d be thin and healthy. again - untrue, and so many things wrong with that statement. (i mean, if anyone has heard this shit a million times, it’s us.) this fatphobic and ableist narrative has been adopted by thin people who think they have a say in the body positivity movement, and weaponized against fat people based on personal bias. they put a MORAL value on health, (which yes, is a classist, white supremacist, eugenicist idea) and in their eyes, fat = unhealthy. so the fatter you are, if you dare promote your body, the eviler you are.

so that makes feedists the evilest of all.

the truth is, we scare people. (tw: death) it has taken me so long to deconstruct the internalized shame from the media constantly telling me, “if you’re a feeder, you’re killing your partner.” before discovering fat liberation, for the longest time, i felt like being a feedist made me a bad person. and that’s fucking bullshit!

i don’t care about what thin people and fatphobes think of this community - but i do care about how we affect fat people. many fat models on tumblr have “FEEDERS/FETISH BLOGS, DO NOT INTERACT” explicitly written in their bios and under their photos. and there are multiple reasons for that, which we all need to be crucially aware of:

1. this community is crawling with predators. no wonder people think we’re evil! so many fat women have opened up about their experiences being fetishized without their consent by feeders and FAs. this is a huge problem. the people who do this have internalized fatphobia and are ashamed of their admiration for fat bodies, and it comes out in really ugly ways. we need to turn the focus inward, eliminate predators, embrace fat liberation and feminism, and show toxicity no tolerance.

2. we eroticize weight gain and fatphobia, which is super triggering to a lot of people! saying things like you’re “ruining your waistline” and most of the teasing/degradation that goes on in kink spaces adhere to fatphobic ideas! most of what we find hot goes hand-in-hand with the medicalization of fatness & moralization of health! eating “unhealthy” things and saying things like “i really shouldn’t, but…” or “look what i’ve done to myself” - those can be very hot, but yes, they’re fatphobic. and that’s okay, because it’s not real. (at least, i hope you don’t say this to people outside of kink spaces!) most of us have this kink because we’ve ALL experienced fatphobia early on in our lives. this kink exists because fatness has been demonized by society - humans desire things that are labeled taboo! it’s unfortunate that fatness is considered taboo in the first place, and that’s a big reason as to why non-feedist fat people are made uncomfortable by this. this kink tells them that their mere existence is taboo!

something that i wish was more clear to people is that the majority of feedists ARE fat positive - that we have experienced trauma regarding fatphobia & the stigma around weight gain, and that fetish/fantasy is a way to cope with that. people eroticize their trauma all the time, it’s a huge aspect of the bdsm fetish community, and i think we should talk about it more. from the outside, our community is viewed as a bunch of skinny people fetishizing unwilling fat people. i wish they would realize that so many members of our community have been fat all of their lives and that this kink strengthens their relationship with their bodies. i can see how to non-feedists, the way we eroticize fatphobia is very difficult to understand.

3. some fat people have expressed frustration towards feedees/gainers (specifically those who have not been fat all of their lives) for fetishizing and appropriating their trauma. i do not personally agree with this viewpoint, but again, it’s important to know that the viewpoint exists and respect it, since it is from the perspective of those who are marginalized and have faced oppression.

whew! okay. that was a HUUUUGE tangent! if you made it this far i love you. in direct response to @sapphicfeeder - yes, people who choose to get fatter deserve body positivity and to love their bodies! AND to participate in fat liberation. feedism and fat liberation MUST intersect because our community is made up of fat people! we have a responsibility to protect and uplift those in marginalized bodies (and when we don’t, things get ugly and creepy.) fat liberation belongs in the feedism community - but feedism does not belong in the fat liberation movement. that’s right! when engaging in fat activism, leave your kinky gear at the door! of course involving others in your kink without their consent is wrong, but also fetishizing fatness and the lived experiences that come with it can be damaging to others outside of kink spaces. please please please be conscious of how you’re interacting with spaces made for non-kinky fat people. but simply promoting the beauty you find in fat bodies isn’t fetishization - it’s just your view! :) and it helps to normalize fatness and appreciation for fatness.

in conclusion: fat feedists are fat people! they face the same oppression that vanilla fat people face, and deserve access to the same support and spaces that vanilla fat people do. it all comes down to body autonomy. if gaining weight is affirming to you - you have the choice to change your body and you deserve to love and celebrate your body. just be sensitive and aware of how the feedism fetish can affect others outside of kink spaces.

Hello to all of my wonderful friends and fantastic readers! This may be a little different from all I have recently uploaded onto my blog, but I am coming to you guys with a little bit of an interest post in regards to something exciting that has been on my mind for quite some time now.

It should come to no surprise that the massive storyline involving my Oblivion character Korbin Redd and his relationship with his adoptive siblings has been steadily growing in depth and detail over the years I have been working on it. However, whatmay be more of a surprise is the fact it has grown so much where I have over seventy stories that I wish to complete in this journey and then ultimately place into an official compilation entitled
“Shadow and Flame”rather than “The Knight, The Emperor, And The Assassin”which you might be more familiar with.

With every new development, every new story, and even every new small meme or joke post I have created over this long road has brought new readers, new interest, and support that means so much that I surely could never possibly repay. To know there are those out there that actually enjoy my writing and the things I create is something I could have only ever dreamed of having.

Perhaps it is because of this very same interest and support that has led me to consider a new type of creative outlet. And thus, today I offer you all a question I would truly enjoy hearing your responses and reactions to! That question being:

“Would you join a personalized server that would be half dedicated to Korbin and his brother’s story and half dedicated to Elder Scrolls related fan content?”

Of course, I am certain most of this is very overwhelming and quite strange, but not to worry! A lot has been in development for a considerable amount of time, and if you wish to see what sort of ideas and events will be apart of this server in a much more coherent list, please feel free to look below:

That’s quite a lot of nice looking stuff, wouldn’t you say? There’s a lot more in the works such as fun bots, roles, and an experienced modding team to keep things friendly and enjoyable for everyone, of course, but I think for now this will suffice in the hopes of gaining interest from those who are familiar with my work, my company, or just those who are looking for a nice place to relax when they need it!

Also as a side note, while my activity regarding my Tumblr has been extremely lackluster for some time, I am actually more active on Discord than ever. I rarely go a day without interacting in some fashion, and most of my work gets posted there first, as well as times where it actually gets created from chats and suggestions!

So, if you ever wanted to witness my creative progress, or just wanted to have a way to interact with me one on one about anything and everything involving my TES work, or just in general, then know that this would be a very good way to do so!

In any case, please feel free to look this post over, let me know what you think by either reblogging or leaving a like, and if there are any questions, suggestions, or those falling  in between, please feel free to message me either here on my Discord – PowerOverNothing#3480 – and I will do my very best to answer whatever I possibly can!

Thanks so much for reading! And until the next post comes~! ♥
