#indominus rex

LIVE

Godzilla and Indominus Rex are on opposite ends of the “Fictional Creatures introduced irreversibly to the Paleo Lexicon” scale:

Godzilla:
-is famously known as (at one point) being a Dinosaur, though his franchise is not exclusively dinosaur-related
-but his character is vague and openly malleable to be whatever the writer wants him to be
-is also very well known to be something fictitious (and also impossible)

Indominus Rex:
-is a famous “dinosaur” from a famous dinosaur franchise
-this dinosaur franchise has been previously a large component of introducing obscure genera to the public
-because of this history a lot of people were just willing to believe that Indominus is a real genus
-Indominus’ character is very niche and unmalleable; if this franchise ever got rebooted they’d basically have to reuse the exact same origin and characterization

Hey!

I meant to post this like a week or two ago, but apparently Tumblr doesn’t want to let me post on my preferred browser and it slipped my mind while trying to troubleshoot (still doesn’t work).

Here’s my take on the Indominus rex from Jurassic World. Not really meant to be a “Here I Fixed Your Character” thing, just expanding on the design and the ideas from the movie in my own style. I made JW Control Room-type graphics to make it look all fancy and to help explain my thoughts while designing it.

I unintentionally ended up kinda rolling the Indominus and Indoraptor into one, which debatably would have been for the best.

Enjoy!
