And here’s the companion piece to the Baryonyx, the Suchomimus! This was heavily inspired by the design from Warpath: Jurassic Park, which I really dig (even if its head is literally a Bary head reused from the Lost World PS1 game). The designs here include (left to right, top to bottom) the default Warpath Sucho, the Jurassic Park Institute Sucho based on art by Timothy J. Bradley, and the maxed out Sucho from Jurassic Park Builder.

I may do more of these in the future, but the next piece will be only tangentially related. It has more to do with Bary than Sucho.

After a lot of work over what should have been a whole lotta “eh”, here are some “dossiers?” “readouts?” of Baryonyx drawn in the Jurassic Park art style. This is a fun one especially since you can compare and contrast it with the existing Jurassic World Baryonyx to get an idea of how those movies design creatures differently.

Enjoy! Another one of these will be shared tomorrow.

The “Prologue” for Jurassic World Dominion (that short IMAX preview from this summer) is finally out on Youtube, so I drew up a Dominion-ish Giganotosaurus to celebrate.

Getting ready for Jurassic World Evolution 2 by drawing some more or less imaginative renditions of dinos from the first game. Enjoy!

Had a day off today and wanted to do some quick painting practice. Didn’t end up being so quick, but I am pretty happy with the results. Especially since I haven’t painted much.

Yesterday, some new spinosaurs out of the Isle of Wight were formally described/revealed. They are very similar to Baryonyx, but as I understand it enough material was discovered to make the argument that RiparovenatorandCeratosuchops are sufficiently different.

To catch the bandwagon of drawing new dinosaurs in a timely manner, here are some shitposts. Enjoy.

Over the past few months, I’ve had a grand old time with the Mii maker in the new Miitopia. So, I figure I may as well share what I’ve made. It’s a wide range of random, mostly unrelated characters I made for fun, but hopefully someone appreciates the effort that went in.

Enjoy!

Stayed up late to finish a drawing of the very recently revealed designs for Attenborosaurus (left) and Plesiosaurus (right) in Jurassic World Evolution 2.

I’m excited for the game and am fairly lenient on “janky”/unpopular creature designs. On social media, Attenboro seems popular and folks don’t like that Plesio just looks like a King Cobra. But Attenboro is a good friend about it.

Enjoy!

Idk if the Paleostreams by Joschua Knüppe have much presence on here, but they’re basically Twitch streams where people draw & chat about extinct animals and paleoart together.

Here are some drawings I did yesterday and then made a lot prettier. Animals from top to bottom are:

Edops (attempting to mate)

Utahraptor (preening on a rock)

Ebrachosuchus

Styracosaurus sketch. This makes me think of the “scaring cats with cucumbers” meme, but having a spooked Styracosaurus on your hands would be disastrous.

A little sketchdump I put together as a thanks for hitting 2K followers on Twitter. Everything but the steg is a request from a follower in one way or another. Enjoy!

I “recently” hit 2K followers on Instagram and asked my followers what they might want to see sketches of. The following are some of that requests filled out to what I would honestly call more than sketches. Really gotta learn when to stop myself.

Enjoy!

Here it is, the final Jurassic June piece. And, instead of going for a baby, I gave the existing baby T. rex an edgy teen phase!

This juvenile T. rex is based on Jane, the fossil specimen argued to be a juvenile T. rex(orNanotyrannus to some). This makes the animal a lot more sleek and lithe, perfect for fast pursuits before it turns into a chunky tankbuster.

Enjoy and hope you’ve had fun this month!

Here’s the penultimate Jurassic June entry, Jurassic World’s Mosasaurus.

I wasn’t able to find a lot of complete baby mosasaur remains online to base this one off of, so I made the silhouette a bit closer to a real Mosasaurus, along with incorporating some juvenile crocodile and komodo dragon. Including having a stand-out color scheme. Baby komodo dragons/monitor lizards (a close relative to ol Mosa) are seriously pretty. Enjoy!

Baby JP Compsognathus for Jurassic June! This is based on a mish-mash between animals like SinosauropteryxandCoelophysis, mostly due to the fact that the animal’s name changed during production. I imagine these would be super soft like a kitten, and not potentially ravenous like the adults. A real gamble for a cute pet in a post-Fallen Kingdom world.

I expect I can get 2 more done for the month, and I think they’re interesting subjects. Enjoy!

Here are some baby Pachycephalosaurus for JurassicJune. Some may be more familiar with the name “Dracorex” but it seems unlikely that it was a separate species at the moment.

I know Dracorex already exists as a separate species in film canon (or at least as far as Jurassic World Evolution is concerned), but I liked this idea too much to give up on it. Enjoy!

Another entry for Jurassic June(-ior), some pterosaurs! These are the Pteranodon from Jurassic World and the Geosternbergia that was present in concept art for The Lost World. The final movie used an actual Pteranodon, I guess I was just going for bonus points.

In other news, I gave them a healthy coating of pycnofibers (feather-like filaments on pterosaurs) even though, for instance, the JW Pteranodon is leathery and bare. This was based on the fact that birds like the Australian Ibis can have bald patches in adulthood that are feathery when young. Perhaps a bit of a stretch, but I’m trying to somewhat appease the proper paleo people as well. Enjoy!

Forgot to upload these the other night, this is a pair of Morrison JP dinos I finished the day of the Dominion poster drop. Enjoy!

Here are some hypothetical baby Jurassic Park hadrosaurs that pull from the film designs, fossil specimens of ParasaurolophusandHypacrosaurus, as well as general “baby” proportions the series has used before.

I won’t be doing daily uploads for Jurassic June, but some more JP ontogeny-themed drawings could be fun. Stay tuned!

Now that the Pop Poke contest is over, here are some “concept art” and unused sketches from the planning process. I went with characters/creatures that I really like and that felt distinctly “me”. I figured I wouldn’t have to worry about other people picking the same characters, but someone did submit a Grievous line so that shows what I know lol.

Enjoy!

Just wrapped up these designs for a Pop Culture Pokémon design/art contest being held by @grimchild. I had a couple different ideas based on characters/movies I enjoy, but ended up going with this evolution line based on Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors (’86).

Designing these Pokémon was super fun and I’m extremely proud of the finished piece! This is my first time drawing in the Ken Sugimori art style, and I think I was able to pull it off fairly convincingly. Hope people enjoy!

Also, if you have not seen the ‘86 Little Shop of Horrors movie before, I highly recommend it. Great songs, amazing practical effects, I think it’s a good time.

Just finished this dinosaur hybrid following an art prompt by Emily Stepp and suggestions by people on Twitter. Enjoy!

RJ Palmer just wrapped up a series of illustrations about cool, imaginative griffin designs and I felt inspired to make one of my own. Here’s a giant, terrestrial griffin trying its best to become a rough sauropod.

Hey!

I meant to post this like a week or two ago, but apparently Tumblr doesn’t want to let me post on my preferred browser and it slipped my mind while trying to troubleshoot (still doesn’t work).

Here’s my take on the Indominus rex from Jurassic World. Not really meant to be a “Here I Fixed Your Character” thing, just expanding on the design and the ideas from the movie in my own style. I made JW Control Room-type graphics to make it look all fancy and to help explain my thoughts while designing it.

I unintentionally ended up kinda rolling the Indominus and Indoraptor into one, which debatably would have been for the best.

Enjoy!

Here we are, last stop on the JP Palettes train. The Holy Grail for every JP 90′s kid. At least as far as I’ve gathered.

Hot take: Rubber “real feel” skin is super overrated. Sure, flexibility, less seams, and “skin-like” material is neat, but it’s a lot less durable, easier to break, and paint can be susceptible to peeling. Nothing lasts forever, but I feel rubber has a real short shelf life.

Enjoy!

Here’s a GIF going between the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World T. rex colorations. There’s a decent amount of discrepancies between the actual models, but these colors match up a lot better than I expected.

Hope you like it!

And, here it finally is, the last Jurassic Palettes piece. I may come back to this idea in the future but it’s so nice to finally have finished this project as originally planned.

The T. rex is my favorite dino in the series, so this one was especially fun to work on. Second to the raptors, it (understandably) gets the lion’s share of cool color schemes from the franchise.

Enjoy!

Some digitally-colored pencil sketches I did in the past week.

The Halszkaraptor’s colors are taken straight from a Spotted Shag (a species of cormorant) and the Albertosaurus is based on pieces by the artist @Toarcian on Twitter.

Here’s an extra Male T. rex, this one’s more “generic” than the others. It follows the patterning most random merch from JP3 used (lollipop holders, things like that). There is a specific source, props to anyone who can guess what it is.

The Male Tyrannosaurs are done! T. rex has some killer color schemes across the franchise and there’s so much good stuff to pull from. I know there are still some iconic rexes left unaddressed by this post, rest assured they’ll be in the next (and, for the moment, final) piece.

Happy Holidays!

Some World of Kong sketches. I have this book, but I’ve really been itching to read it again.

King Kong 2005 will always be more interesting to me than the new one. Fight me.

This wee bab comes to us from the unreleased Night Hunters line, a follow up to the (surprisingly released) Chaos Effect line. There are like 2 promo pics I could find, and color schemes were conflicting. So, why not both?
