“Wow, you really know how to sweep a girl off her feet.” Hero weakly smiled as Villain scooped her up in his arms. She broke into a coughing fit. Blood dribbled from her lips.

“Save your breath.”

“Sorry handsome, I can’t do that. You took my breath away.”

“Seriously?”

“Hey, I was in between that or ‘you left me breathless’ or 'you’re just too breathtaking’.”

The villain grins, leaning forward to tap hero lightly on the nose with a blood stained finger.

Hero’s eyes, glassy and unfocused, flick up to the villain.

“S-stop…”

“Mercy,” the hero begged, grovelling in a pool of their own blood. “P-please, I- I-”

“Give me what I want and I will stop. No sooner. No later.”

“I can’t,” they sobbed. “You know I can’t, please-”

“This won’t stop until you can. I hope, for your sake, that that happens sooner rather than later.”
