Say you stayed home Alone with the flu Find out from friends That wasn’t true
Go out at night With your headphones on again And walk through The Manhattan valleys of the dead
Didn’t want to be your ghost Didn’t want to be anyone’s ghost…
~ The National
Staying with the Irish Faerie theme, this is my interpretation of the Banshee. A banshee is a female spirit in Irish folklore who heralds the death of a family member, usually by wailing, shrieking, or keening. Her name is connected to the mythologically important tumuli or “mounds” that dot the Irish countryside, which are known as síde in Old Irish. Below the thunders of the upper deep, Far, far beneath in the abysmal sea, His ancient, dreamless, uninvaded sleep The Kraken sleepeth: faintest sunlights flee About his shadowy sides; above him swell Huge sponges of millennial growth and height; And far away into the sickly light, From many a wondrous grot and secret cell Unnumbered and enormous polypi Winnow with giant arms the slumbering green. There hath he lain for ages, and will lie Battening upon huge sea worms in his sleep, Until the latter fire shall heat the deep; Then once by man and angels to be seen, In roaring he shall rise and on the surface die.
~ Alfred Lord Tennyson

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago—never mind how long precisely—having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world. It is a way I have of driving off the spleen and regulating the circulation.
~ Herman Melville
A little bit more time and care with this latest painting. This is Donaghadee’s iconic lighthouse, built in the early 1800s and earning the town the it’s reputation as “The beacon of the coast ”. Drawn exclusively using Krita from a photograph taken two years ago from the North Pier at low tide. #artistsoninstagram #sketch_daily #share_sketches #hash_talent #igart #illustrateyourworld #illustrationartists #art_daily #art_spotlight #digitalart #krita #huion #digitalpainting #lighthouse #DiscoverNI #ExploreNI #irishpassion (at Donaghadee) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNLTWtVpo5K/?igshid=8tnj5l418aas
