Pairing: Isabela Madrigal x Reader

Request: Prompt 218: “If I ever see you anywhere near her, you’ll have to deal with me!”

The sun beat down on Encanto. Children screamed with delight as they swam in the river. You watched on a rock as Isabela grew water lilies to entertain the young ones. She adorned a beautiful purple bathing suit and she was hip deep in the water.

“(Y/N)! You comin’ in?” Luisa asked, a child giggling as she hung onto the Madrigal’s bicep.

“No thank you! I’m good here Luisa!” You responded, waving her off.

“Look at her.” You heard two of the town boys. Their bodies lean against trees. You look over to them and follow their gaze.

Isabela.

Well, that one is to be expected.

There’s a reason her nickname is Senorita Perfecta.

“What I’d do to her given the chance…” one chuckled.

“What makes you assume Isabela’s ever gonna give you a chance?” You scoffed at him.

“Seeing as I’m exactly her type, everything.” He quipped back, flexing one of his biceps.

“How do you know you’re her type?” You felt as if now you were interrogating him.

“I look just like Mariano, body wise. My face’s a little better.” He touched his chin, eliciting a laugh from his friend.

“It’s hard to say. I think Isabela deserves someone with a little more brain than brawn.” You scoffed.

His lip twitched into a frown as he grabbed you by your collar, pulling you off your rock. “Listen here you little-.”

“If I ever see you anywhere near them, you’ll have to deal with me!” You heard Isa’s stern voice, pulling the man into the tree with a vine.

“Yes Isabela! I’m sorry!” He shouted, as she put him down.

You looked over to Isabela and mouthed thank you.

“(Y/N), take a walk with me?” She asked, getting out of the water. “Oh?” You nodded and followed her

———

“Thanks for the help, Isa. I appreciate that and you.” You added in the last part, a little quieter than the rest of the sentence.

“Of course. I enjoy you, I can’t have your cute face destroyed.” She nudged you. “I like you.” She said outright.

“Oh! I thought your type was… big and brawny?” You said, a little embarrassed. “My type is you. I was waiting for you to pick up the hints hon.”

Your face flushed deeply as you stopped walking.

“Tonight at 7?” She asked, you noticed that you were at your front door.

“Yea…!” You nodded, fumbling to open the door. “It’s a date!” You shout, opening the door finally.

She laughed softly. “It’s a date.” She walked off, yellow roses lining the road as she did.
