Slow update, it’s been.. roughly half a month? I’m busy with school sorry.

The next day, he went back to his usual — avoiding all tasks and maybe steal something from the bakery that’s by chance near your house even though he could’ve just asked Tia Julieta for arepas or any type of bread he wanted.

He stayed hidden in the alley, slicing his bread in half with his pocket knife to save for later. He glanced at you not so subtly as he enjoyed his breakfast.

“Are you going to keep staring like a creep or?”

He heard your unmistakable voice and looked around, trying to see who you were talking to.

“I’m talking to you, señor with the hair covering an eye while eating bread”

He gulped down his mouthful of bread, thinking if he should make a run for it. But he’s no coward so he stepped out into the light, shrugging like this was his plan all along.

“Whats a Madrigal doing here, casually watching a local anyways” You tossed the blob of an apple core you liquified up and down your hand. “don’t try to deny it, i’ve seen you there for days”

He grinned a mirthless grin, “Bold of you to assume i’m watching you, señorita.” He walked closer. You took note of how tall he is as he towered over you.

You scoffed, “whatever, see you around stalker” You turned to go back into your house, not bothering anymore since he’s not gonna answer your question.

Eventually he’ll get bored of whatever interested him and leave. right?

Wrong. He came back day after day, just standing there eerily in the shadows of the alley. Sometimes with a fruit in hand or a new trinket he snatched. You’ve learnt that his name was Carlos, the trouble maker of the Madrigals. A sort of outcast, black sheep of the family.

You noticed the townspeople didn’t really like him either (more like they completely avoided him as much as possible) and it wasn’t surprising if he thought you would’ve backed off or at least be put off by it like other people did. But you didn’t, instead you just.. sort of coexisted in silent in some sort of truce.

He would stay near you, minding his own business while you worked on chores or just watching the clouds float by.

He enjoyed the peace while you enjoyed the quiet company.

You were laying in your usual shaded spot, enjoying the cool summer breeze while you chewed on a popsicle stick mindlessly. Until some guy decided to get real close to you while sitting, completely uncaring you’re there.

“Has anyone told you about personal space..? Because clearly you don’t know about it.” you scoffed as you sat up, now standing in front of the guy who decided to invade your space.

It was Carlos Madrigal, who’s name you had learnt. But he was.. different today. You squinted your eyes, confused. He didn’t look different. Actually he did, his expression was.. odd. not one usually seen on the scowling, pissed-off-at-everyone boy. The beauty mark was also gone. you noted.

“Uh. Are you okay.?”

“Totally, why would you assume i’m not?” He snapped back at you, but it was.. weak compared to his usual snide comments. It also had weird ups and downs in accent that he didn’t do. And was that a voice crack.?

You reached forward, pinching Carlos real hard and you watch as his image shifted and changed, turning into Camilo. You rolled your eyes, as if one madrigal wasnt enough, now there’s two.

You caught him by the back of his collar as he turned to flee, “hold it, why’re you impersonating your twin to see me”

He turned around, eyes darting everywhere.

“Look i mean no harm, i was just interested in why my brother was always out here and found out he was with you. Are you guys dating?”

You let go of his collar, “Dating him?” You snickered, “Of course not.” You quickly dissipate the thought of dating him that flashed through your head. Dating him? He was just.. nice company. Yeah. Besides you weren’t that close, he just stayed near and had short conversations with you. sometimes joining you as you laid near the riverbank or watched the stars on your roof.

Camilo seemed to be thinking, hand scratching his head absent-mindedly.

“That’s weird. Carlos doesn’t really enjoy company. I was surprised he was hanging around you so much. What’s your name anyways” He stretched his hand out, wanting to shake yours.

“Y/n, You’re done with this whole investigator thing right? I’ll go back to my nap” You shook his hand briefly so he doesn’t have his hand out awkwardly and tossed the popsicle stick that’s been in your mouth for a while into the bin next to you.

He waved, setting off with mischief in his mind as he thought of the ways he’ll tick his brother off.

He hurried home, greeting casita and passed by Mirabel who was fixing up his other torn ruana. He found Carlos leaning against the balcony and smirked, walking up to him.

“So… what’s up hermano” Carlos ignored Camilo’s question, rolling his eyes as he’s close to walking away.

“What.” He snapped, eyes narrowed and lips a thin line, annoyed his peace was disturbed. Camilo never went to him during the day unless to tell him about news.

“So hostile towards tu hermano” Camilo shook his head “Not to disturb your creepy stalker thing but Mama told me to tell you y/n’s coming over for dinner tonight.” Camilo grinned seeing Carlos’ expression change, his eyes widening.

“What’s wrong hermano?” He prodded him further, testing his patience.

Carlos turned away without a response, trying to leave.

“not so fast, whats this about?” Camilo put a hand on his shoulder. He grits his teeth and swats his hand off.

“Let go already, it doesn’t concern you.”

“You’re so obvious. It’s clear that you-“ Carlos slaps his hand over Camilo’s mouth, irritated.

“Cállate.”

“That was a joke Carlos, shes not coming over to dinner. I talked with her just now. She has a gift too, i think it’s manipulating liquids and turning things into liquid state.”

Carlos nodded, attention drifting from his brother’s words to something else, until his brother’s voice became background noise again.

“Carlos!” He snapped back to attention, closing his eyes in annoyance.

“make it short i’m tired of your ramblings”

“Do you like her.”

He turned around, unsure as well. “I don’t know” He muttered.

“Just say you do” He could already imagine the stupid smug grin Camilo was wearing. “Just cállate before Dolores-“

A small squeak could be heard behind them. Carlos facepalmed, of course she heard.

“What’s this about Carlos liking someone? Mi hermanito tolerating someone?”

Carlos had enough of this and pushed past her. “you’ve heard everything already, don’t tell anyone, got it?” He glared at her but Dolores was already turning to leave, trying not to spill the newest news she got.

“She’s gonna tell everyone. starting from mirabel and then mama” Camilo stated.

“No shit.”

“Maybe you could try confessing..?”

“We’re not.. close. At all. And what would she see in me anyways” The insecurities rose and tangled his insides into knots. Bile rose and he gulped, pushing the thoughts down.

Camilo sighed, shaking his head. There was no convincing Carlos once he set his mind to something. “I’ll leave you to your thoughts then. Hasta luego hermano.”

That night, carlos’ thoughts ran wild as the night got darker.

What if you thought the same as he did?

Unsure of your feelings as well? He knew you were sort of an outcast as well. On the surface you got along well but you didn’t have anyone close. But you had him around everyday.

Maybe his brother is right for once. He had fallen for you and he can’t seem to get enough of you — The one thing that seems nice in this town besides his family.

Sakurawan: A non confirmed rare illness where Cherry blossom bud patterns grow on the patient’s neck or throat. The cherry blossoms will gradually bloom, growing around the neck and causing the patient to feel pain, discomfort and agitated until the blossoms fully bloom and the person gets choked to death. The sickness is not infectious, however it either results in full recovery or death. Remedies are unclear. It’s cause is….

He slammed the book shut. Disbelieving. Denying the truth.

“Mierda..”

Carlos shut his eyes as he laid on the grass, next to you.

“Hey principe”

“yeah?”

“.. you know that conversation we had before of me turning into a horse?”

You shoved him lightly, “Don’t you start again Carlos”

He snickered, “Vale, vale. What if… i suddenly died though”

You smacked him on the head “What are you going on about now Carlos, I swear that cabeza of yours is always up to something. And it’s New years, don’t bring yourself bad luck”

He scratched his neck gently, tracing patterns mindlessly, his mind heavy with thoughts drowning him. “Nevermind principe, was just joking around, you’re so easy to get to” He laughed.

but the smile didn’t reach his eyes as he kept a tight-lipped grin.

“It’s late principe, i’ll take you back home. Wouldn’t want some guy snatching you in the dark now would we?”

He stared in the mirror in horror. Another one had appeared. He dreaded it, the patterns that appeared as days past. Nothing worked. Not even Tia Julieta’s all curing magic. If the magic didn’t work… then what would?

He slammed the table mirror down, pacing around the room swiftly, his ruana swishing after him as he tapped his feet, letting out frustrated cusses causing Camilo to knock on his door.

“It’s 3 in the morning, Cállate or Get out of the house to do your mumbling! Dolores can’t sleep and neither can I, hermano por favor!” He heard the slam of his brother slamming the door as he retreats back into his room.

“What is up with you recently hermano?” Camilo frowned

“Nothings up. what’s it to you now?” He chided back, tone sharper than usual.

“Your attitude’s just.. sourer than usual” His brother commented.

He ignored him but Camilo continued following him, curious to why he’s in such a terrible mood.

After a few steps, He turned around, unusually pissed off and grabbed Camilo’s collar.

“Stop following me idiota.” He coldly sneered down at his shorter counterpart.

“Oh so that’s what this is?” Camilo raised his fist, frown deepening as he stood his ground. “You just wanted to fight for no reason when I was trying to care.”

Carlos swung his fist down.

Fool in love Pt.1 (prologue?)

Carlos Madrigal x she/them reader with a gift

Genre: fluff

Warnings: none for now

masterlistpt 2

note: rewrote this three times. wasn’t happy with it and i’m still not but have this sort of.. teaser?? prologue?

Tagging:@dos-oroguitas :) enjoy my humble offering and happy chinese new year

Carlos stared confused from his place in the musty alley, unsure what to do as he flicked his pocket knife open and close. He kicked a rock out of frustration, groaning as he muttered colourful words.

“Get yourself together. ¿Que pasa tonto?” He didn’t understand why he was like this right now, palms sweaty and face flushed when he caught your eyes meeting briefly (way too short to his dismay) or even just a glimpse of you.

The town had always been too boring and stuffy for him, he could care less about the townspeople. He never got along well with everyone and was infamous for getting into fights or trouble.

The shopkeepers hated him for constantly pickpocketing food, trinkets or as he called “borrowing without returning” and then disappearing without a trace into the crowds with his gift. He used his gift for himself unlike his twin Camilo whom the town adored. The townspeople often compared them and he was the black sheep of the family. Even Abuela Alma didnt like him. Almost nobody liked being around the boy with a permanent scowl, heterochromatic eyes and hair covering one eye. Even his family got fed up with his antics often.

it was fine to him. he didn’t like or wanted the attention or admiration of the town, his twin could gladly have it all as he didn’t like the town for what they had done to his long gone Tio, Bruno.

But you, this new person in town with a gift had mysteriously caught his eye, grabbing his attention. You were supposed to be just another girl in the town, avoiding him or just passing by without paying a care.

You swept him off his feet as you stayed after one of his fights and tended to him, aware of his reputation and personality. Maybe you just felt guilty or pity for him when he had a bloody nose and several bruises, nothing Tia Julieta couldn’t fix anyways. But he had stayed and let you tend to him, staring entranced at you “like a idiota” he added unhelpfully. He forgot to ask for your name or shrug you off at that moment, time stilling as he looked at you and you only.

You somehow managed to make his knees feel weak, lips curling upwards and his permanent frown gone from his face whenever he sees you. He didn’t believe in love at first sight but here he was, stalking observing you from a distance as you went on with your day.

At first he thought it was the fact that you’re someone new and had a gift that’s got him interested, but slowly he found out he was more interested in your expressions, the way your the way your hair shone, the small things that showed your mood. The way your eye twitched as you were annoyed, the clench of fists or how you curled your hair around a finger as you were deep in thought.

He shook himself out of his thoughts. He was no fool in love, he’d rather be dead than caught tripping over himself over someone. It was almost dinner anyways. He should be heading back. He glanced back at you, ears flushed red, “idiota.. what am i doing” as he quickly went home.

He’ll figure out his.. feelings and thoughts after dinner. or maybe not.

“mamá.. Do i have to go? Cant you just tell them i’m sick again, por favor?” You pleaded. The Madrigals have invited everyone to their smallest child’s gifting ceremony again, you usually don’t attend the smaller (still huge since it involves the whole town) parties as you’re.. more than a bit socially awkward at new venues with wild bustling crowds.

“Si mi amor..Abuela Alma specifically requested your presence this time, she wants you to meet the family” You mom repeated again, for the 3rd time this week as you’ve asked and asked again. Your parents were pottery workers for La Casita’s reparations or new pottery they wanted.

“Now, get ready quickly, it’s almost 7! Shoo, off you go” Your mother handed you some clothes and pushed you gently off the bed.

After tu madre fumbled with your clothes and fretted over your behavior at La Casita, you reassured her you’ll try, keyword try, to at least blend in with the crowd and “live a little” instead of sulking or being in the background. Before you headed in, you turned back towards your mother’s worried gaze and smiled, “I’ll be alright mamá, no te preocupes (don’t worry) or you’re gonna get old with wrinkles!”

She laughed before letting out a small gasp at a replica of herself. “Hola camilo, how nice of you to welcome us” She kissed his cheeks. The boy with curly dark hair known as Camilo greets you enthusiastically and cracks a joke, you wave back, smiling a bit. “Mijo, take care of mi cariño alright?” “Mama, I’m not five!” you whisper-shout at her. Camilo only chuckles and says, “Alright Cariño, ill keep an eye on you” He winks before going off to greet other guests as Casita pushes you into the party.

After the ceremony, your mother was lost to the crowd and nowhere to be seen. You looked around for Dolores, she was sort of your acquaintance? friend? When you came around to La Casita and helped with your parent’s pottery, you would have small talk when you took breaks, sharing arepas and other tasty treats. Therefore, you looked for her as she was more familiar in this unfamiliar situation. But when you finally saw her, she was in the middle of the dancing floor, whirling and twirling, her dress sparkling from the lights. You groaned, you were not going onto the dance floor with a bunch of people potentially stepping on your feet or tripping you. You settled for the refreshments next to you and looked for an empty cup. No luck, there were only used ones and you didn’t trust those nearly enough at all.

You recalled your mom’s words and sighed. “Live a little huh..” Maybe you should!, yeah you’ll… talk to someone. You surveyed the people around you, nobody was alone and everyone was engaging in talks or dancing… Nevermind then.

“Hey there Cariño, what’s a pretty girl like you doing alone and all… sulky?” You turned around, seeing the boy, Camilo from before. You’ve never really talked much to him besides polite greetings. “I don’t dance and the refreshments bar ran out of cups.” You shrugged.

“What about you Camilo, why aren’t you partying?”

“Your mom did tell me to keep an eye on you didn’t she? Besides, what kind of host would I be if I let you sulk on the sides? Come on, Let’s have fun hermosa!” He grabbed your hand, dragging you through crowds of people as they parted absentmindedly to let both of you pass, you watched his hair bounce as he dragged you, all attention on the boy and not the anxiety-inducing surrounding.

He dragged you up the large tree with all the action in Antonio’s room, the majestic room leaving you awestruck, he sat next to you on a branch, close to the crowds but far enough for some peace and quiet.

“I don’t think we’ve talked much before have we?”

“No.. we haven’t, You’re Camilo right?”

“Si, have you met the rest of the family? Oh you’ve gotta try some of Tía Julieta’s arepas! They’re the absolute best!” His bright smile mesmerized you, only now you noticed he had freckles splattered across his cheeks. You nodded along to his excited rant about food as you stared at his face, taking note of his dramatic hand gestures, animated expressions and that gosh dang beautiful smile.

“and then he-.. is there something on my face?” he paused, noticing you’ve been staring.

“No no it’s just.. it’s nothing, continue” You looked away, not used to his eyes focused on you.

He smirked, “You’re definitely thinking of how handsome I am, aren’t you?” He dramatically flexed his arms, flashing you a grin. You snorted, “Sure Camilo, continue thinking that.” He laughed, shifting to you, “Sure Camilo, continue thinking that” He copied your pose, adding a little of his flair while saying it, making you laugh.

“Camilo!!” You heard Pepa calling him, he turned over, sighing. “I hope I’ll be seeing you around then preciosa, maybe you can come over for lunch tomorrow?” You nodded, urging him to go, “Your mother’s looking for you, go. I’ll be here Camilo” He grinned, waving a goodbye before running along, disappearing into the crowds.

..after he left, You found yourself missing his presence, feeling lonely in the party afterwards. But your heart warmed thinking of his words. Definitely not thinking of his charming self.

Disclaimer: I do not own you or The Encanto franchise. I do own the writing.

Request: Can I request some Pepa + Fèlix X reader fluff of your choice? I absolutely love your writing and there isn’t enough content of them honestly… Thank you! - Anon

A/N: hope you enjoy anon!

Sitting between Pepa and Fèlix, Pepa’s hands ran through your hair. Your hands were held by Fèlix’s, comforting patterns rubbed by his thumbs.

It’s something those two always have done. Pepa has her fixation on her hair, Fèlix loved your hands.

The Madrigal’s definitely knew you well enough to know when an up-and-coming anxiety attack was coming on. And their comfort couldn’t have come at a better time.

Your day couldn’t have been any more shitty. Your clothes ruined by a donkey kicking dirt. Your art was soiled by that coffee kid, which was an accident, but nonetheless. You spent days on that art piece. Your hair wasn’t cooperating… so many things just tumbled into an anxiety attack.

“Shhh mi rosa. Pepi and I are here.” Fèlix’s calming voice lulled you. “It’s going to be okay. It’s a bad day, just one. You’ve gone through plenty, you can get through one more.” Pepa hummed.

Sniffing, you nodded your head a little. “Yea…”

“Julieta just finished cooking.” Pepa cooed in your ear, arms wrapping around your midsection. “I’m sure we can sneak some and go for a picnic.” Fèlix’s hands rested on your knees.

“Hot chocolate included?” You asked, a smile spreading on your face.

“Of course.” Pepa kissed the left side of your cheek, while Fèlix kissed the right side. A laugh erupted from you, which in turn made your partners laugh as well.

Brain than Brawn

Title: Brain than Brawn

Alt Title: Tonight at Seven

Warning: fluff, almost violence

Rating: PG

Disclaimer: I don’t own you or the encanto franchise. Just the writing.

Pairing: Isabela Madrigal x Reader

Request: Prompt 218: “If I ever see you anywhere near her, you’ll have to deal with me!”

The sun beat down on Encanto. Children screamed with delight as they swam in the river. You watched on a rock as Isabela grew water lilies to entertain the young ones. She adorned a beautiful purple bathing suit and she was hip deep in the water.

“(Y/N)! You comin’ in?” Luisa asked, a child giggling as she hung onto the Madrigal’s bicep.

“No thank you! I’m good here Luisa!” You responded, waving her off.

“Look at her.” You heard two of the town boys. Their bodies lean against trees. You look over to them and follow their gaze.

Isabela.

Well, that one is to be expected.

There’s a reason her nickname is Senorita Perfecta.

“What I’d do to her given the chance…” one chuckled.

“What makes you assume Isabela’s ever gonna give you a chance?” You scoffed at him.

“Seeing as I’m exactly her type, everything.” He quipped back, flexing one of his biceps.

“How do you know you’re her type?” You felt as if now you were interrogating him.

“I look just like Mariano, body wise. My face’s a little better.” He touched his chin, eliciting a laugh from his friend.

“It’s hard to say. I think Isabela deserves someone with a little more brain than brawn.” You scoffed.

His lip twitched into a frown as he grabbed you by your collar, pulling you off your rock. “Listen here you little-.”

“If I ever see you anywhere near them, you’ll have to deal with me!” You heard Isa’s stern voice, pulling the man into the tree with a vine.

“Yes Isabela! I’m sorry!” He shouted, as she put him down.

You looked over to Isabela and mouthed thank you.

“(Y/N), take a walk with me?” She asked, getting out of the water. “Oh?” You nodded and followed her

———

“Thanks for the help, Isa. I appreciate that and you.” You added in the last part, a little quieter than the rest of the sentence.

“Of course. I enjoy you, I can’t have your cute face destroyed.” She nudged you. “I like you.” She said outright.

“Oh! I thought your type was… big and brawny?” You said, a little embarrassed. “My type is you. I was waiting for you to pick up the hints hon.”

Your face flushed deeply as you stopped walking.

“Tonight at 7?” She asked, you noticed that you were at your front door.

“Yea…!” You nodded, fumbling to open the door. “It’s a date!” You shout, opening the door finally.

She laughed softly. “It’s a date.” She walked off, yellow roses lining the road as she did.
