Pieces of Viking pottery with traces of cat and dog paws, seen at the Musée de Normandie in Caen Castle

“So back in the day pets already ruined their owner’s artwork.” - My sis who took the photo

“ruined”?made better

It’s very humanizing to imagine some poor potter in the past screaming “nnnnooooooo bad kitty” somewhere in Scandinavia

If it was ruined, the artisan wouldn’t have baked it.

That’s… that’s a delightful point you just made.

This person chose to bake and keep their cat’s artistic contribution.

i was in spain once and there was a building with a tile that had been laid down in roman times: it had a dog’s paw print. and the thing was that after the dog did that print, the wet tile was dried, and then fired, and then shipped, and then laid, and for two thousand years every person who encountered that tile thought ‘aw! paw print!’ and kept it. this vast agreement by thousands of people over all these centuries, in memory of a dog only one of us could have met.

i loved that tile.

Every comment.

As anyone who has worked with wet clay knows, these pawprints could be removed with a dab more clay and a stroke of one hand.

That they weren’t, says all that needs said.

The hand was too busy stroking something furry that purred or wagged its tail.

Why do we not discuss Aldis Hodge more often?

Because if we discussed him more often, we’d probably share more gifs of him.

And we’d never get any damn work done.

CAN CONFIRM

I don’t know about you guys but…uh…

Whew. I’m willing to lose the productivity.

I love this so much!! I asked @miawinchester to do this for me and WOW, she definitely delivered!!

I love the song, I Was Here, by Beyoncé, it reminds me of my mom. The song combined with the amazing footage Eloisa put together, well I’ll just say that I might have cried quite a lot the first 15 times I watched it. It’s amazing, beautiful, and sure to cause a few tears.

WATCH THIS !!!

❤️

Thanks again Eloisa, @miawinchester I love it so so much!

XOXO, Liz

I second that!

WATCH THIS!

This is masterfully done! It’s beautiful and sad and touching and heartbreaking and hopeful.

(Thanks for the tag, @all-4-wincest)

I think what makes the Epic Love Story of Sam and Dean so Epic is that their love is so very, very *messy*. They’re both selfish and self-sacrificing, both want to keep their brother safe at all costs, but also want to punch their brother in the face for not just GETTING it. They grew up jammed into a box smaller than the average bathroom, so physically close they probably noticed each other’s acne before the other one did. And yet they were distant in the beginning of season 1 for a lot of reasons. It takes them 15 years of being full blown adults to understand each other and how they think differently.

Time and time again they hurt each other with the good intentions of saving each other. Physically, mentally, emotionally. Dean is overbearing and Sam is aloof until he’s needy- and Dean is needy until the better tactic is pulling away, and Sam reverses that. They know each other’s buttons like they made them.

But at the end of the day they always come back to each other. There is no other person that understands. There is no other person that can be trusted. There are times where it is so visible that they hate who their brother has become, but they still love him without question.

Sam didn’t hesitate to let an innocent person die to revive Dean- the first revival- and Dean was ready to hide a murder they both thought Sam had committed. This is early seasons, way before the actual Big Shit went down.

Love is not pretty all the time. Love leads to some of the most heinous actions and the most benevolent. Sam and Dean love each other so much that both of them are ready to burn the world- their bodies, their souls, literal Heaven and Hell, which has an impact on every living soul past and present- for each other. Before promptly kneeing the other one in the dick and running away laughing.

It’s messy and it’s sometimes silly and sometimes painful, but it’s always there as the compass. And isn’t that true love?

POINTS UP - THIS!!!

Title: Song of the Lioness. Alanna of Trebond as a young page is in the middle of the first panel. She says: “I’ll have to work extra hard and show everyone that I’m as good as any boy in the palace!” Alanna of Trebond as a young squire with Faithful the cat on her shoulder is in the middle of the second panel. She is holding a sword and the stone given to her by the Mother Goddess. She says: “I have to prove myself worthy of a knight’s shield because I’m secretly a woman!”
Alanna of Trebond as a young knight with Faithful the cat on her shoulder is in the middle of the third panel. She is holding a sword and her Lioness Rampant shield. The magical ember stone is around her neck. She is decorated with medals. She says: “I have to prove that the King was right to let me keep my shield after I revealed myself to be a woman!” Alanna of Trebond as a knight with Faithful the cat on her shoulder is in the middle of the fourth panel. She is wearing all gold armor and mail chain and the magical ember stone. She is holding a trophy with a blue ribbon on it, a giant magical blue stone, her sword, and her shield with blue ribbons on it, one of which says “Best Knight.” She says: “I don’t deserve to be King’s Champion! A Lady Knight has never been King’s Champion! I’ll have to work extra hard to show everyone I’m worthy!” Below the fourth panel is the artist as a 10-year-old child reading the Song of the Lioness books. The child says, “Gosh, I hope I don’t internalize Alanna’s intense imposter syndrome…”
