PEDIA 07 - TYBADFTCTBA

Todays poster comes from John Green’s latest video. Where he is just absolutly shattered, bless him. Take a look at him trying to articulate his way through pitching us a million dollar idea that might be (just might be) based on his own experiences.

Also, my PEDIA Poster from day 4 just hit 10,000 notes. A record for this blog. Not even Inspector Spacetime soared to those heights. So thanks! Not bad for a bit of naff photoshopping. I should do more of those.

PEDIA 03 - LegoLand

Bit of a cop out poster this evening, and its a little bit late. We just got in about 10 minutes ago from a long day out at everyone favourite theme park for under 13’s; LegoLand.

I made this using Isometric, a lovely little app I bought last week or so.

Been a long day out today. Better posters from here on out I swear.

PEDIA 01 - Mind Vidcon 2013

I did have an idea of where I would start with #PEDIA, but that swiftly went out the window when Mind VidCon came along.

Basically an alternative Con for everyone to attend on Twitter as a response to everyone doing tweets at each other at real VidCon. So much so that I think it trended in the UK. To be honest, If I was at VidCon I’d be doing the same thing.

Branding and colour schemes are ripped off from VidCon’s (sorry VidCon) and you can get the naff looking niche T Shirt here:

My friend Laura asked me to make a Calvin and Hobbes poster for her boyfriend for Christmas. I love Calvin and Hobbes so much, so it was a lovely little project to end the year. and I hope Greg likes it.

The Good Stuff Poster (plus work in progress screenshots)

Off the back of my Wheezy Waiter poster, Craig kindly asked me to make a poster to use for their Subbable campaign! After a few sketches, we settled on the idea of a World of Stuff sort of thing. This was just a thumbnail sketch done in felt tips. I find felt tips really great for hashing out quick ideas. I do it for pretty much every design I make.

I blocked out the objects and things in Cinema 4D. These were just black and white to get everything in place first. Then once it was approved by the gang, I went ahead and started texturing. Cinema 4D is fantastic for quickly creating and editing textures. I’m used to working in Maya, and it can be quite difficult to easily make and edit lighting setups. Love it.

Then after that its using photoshop to build up the background and the layers of light a smoke. I used a Depth Map from C4D to mask out the several layers of the poster, so I didn’t end up erasing layers I might need later, or have to do any rotoscoping, or magic wand guff.

Thought I’d share a bit of process, as I rarely do that :)

You can get this poster as part of The Good Stuff’s Subbable Campaign. Donate over $30 and get a signed one of these.
