The dinning room had a beautiful view of the river, with forested mountains closely hugging each side. I felt very fortunate to enjoy the view and Derby Pie. A Kentucky original, Derby Pie is best described as a chocolate & bourbon pecan pie; and as extremely amazing.

I always stop and save a turtle stranded on the road, if I can. This time, I had the office intern with me. Before we dropped him off at the lake, I had the intern hold him for the camera. Next, I led him on a hike around the lake. Glad he didn’t report it to HR.

Winter Evening | Cumberland Falls | South-Eastern Kentucky
Known as “Niagara Falls of the South”, the falls are 125ft (38m) wide and drop 68ft (21m) over a sandstone bed. It’s also home to the world’s only moonbow, an elusive lunar rainbow that sometimes appears in the mist of the falls on a full moon night.
