“Here come the tears
Along with terms of endearment
Distorted by fear
So sincere, it hurts!”
— VV

Hey everyone, hope you’re all doing well. This is my newest painting “Endearment” which will be featured in my Patreon rewards this month. I originally had her holding her heart, but I thought that was too obvious and considered that a bird held better symbolism for what I wanted to portray. I’d love to hear what you guys interpret from this one

“Moonflowers” - When times are hard, do you ever find yourself seeking sanctuary in memories? Do you ever feel yourself sinking below the surface of the present, into another world, a happier world - where the dream-scents are heady and laughter seems to last forever? ⁣

I have been reliving long-past summers and distant echoes of spring recently, a bitter-sweet nostalgia of family, home, lost friends and moonflowers.

“Summer Nights” - Here’s another for you! I wanted to try something different with this one and it was a lot of fun to paint. I have my own story and my own reasons behind the things in this piece, but what do you see?

My fans over on Patreonwill be getting a process video where I talk about making this painting and my thoughts behind it, brushes, layered PSD files plus other behind the scenes goodies for this painting, AND goodies for a bunch of others this month.

Inspired by the snowdrops pushing up through the Wintery soil and the dead leaves left from Autumn, “Awakening” heralds the first signs of spring and the renewal to come. This one took a few interesting turns and I ended up learning a lot about my process and colour. I also tested out my the new brushes I made for Photoshop/Procreate. I’ll be uploading them soon

You can find a write-up on my process and other behind the scenes for this painting on my Patreon, so if you like my work please consider supporting

I’ll be talking more about what inspired this and have the process video available over on my Patreon: http://patreon.com/Ysvyri

“Pareidolia” - a new painting expanded from the pencil sketch I posted a few days ago. I wanted to try something more stylised and step away from realism so I leaned into my Ayami Kojima influence more than I usually allow myself.

“Blooming” - A new painting done for Mother’s Day. My mum had a tough year last year, so anything that’ll make her smile is a good thing in my book. She loves gardening, flowers and is happiest when it’s sunny. This was inspired by all the new flowers waking up after the winter sleep.

As always thank you to patrons on Patreon for making paintings like this one possible

I’m excited to launch my Kickstarter! You can find it HERE!

Made Me Come Undone was painted as a response to my own overthinking. I wanted to turn off my brain and just paint without judgement and without analysis. What emerged from this free-form painting experience was this ghostly, almost intangible vision, a gossamer apparition as delicate as a moth’s wing.

I feel this painting ties in well with the story behind this Kickstarter. For years I’ve been painting other people’s visions, creating for them worlds and characters that they had previously only seen in their heads. It is now time for me to reclaim my artistic vision and start creating for myself and this project is a way to help me do that. I want to emerge from the pupa stage and spread my own wings, to make more paintings like this, more paintings that are mine and more paintings I can share with all of you. Maybe this resonates with some of you, maybe you just want to see more paintings like this one. Either way, I would love for you to be part of this bid for freedom.

Thumbnails for a print for next month called “In Ancient Woods”.  I want to evoke power and a feel of her comfort and harmonic dominion over the ancient woodland around her. A good piece for witchy types to hang in their homes to remind them of their own power.

I’m giving folks on my Patreonand my Twitter the chance to choose which thumbnail they prefer to see brought to life. If you want to give your vote then please head over to either one and comment!

This piece will also be part of my Patreon rewards for November, including a walk-through of the entire painting, video time-lapse and access to brushes and the layered PSD. If you’re interested in joining, I’d love to have you!
