I think this is the first time I have finished inktober (I have got close before but always lose it around week three or so?) and I am really proud that I made it! I am doing huevember this month and I will post that soon. But if you want to see where I am ATM you can check out my instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/catinspats/
Kitty didn’t make it into this one because I liked the size similarity between Mrawh and the pixie better–I didn’t want to have to draw it super tiny to fit Kitty in there. So I did try a different ink, but I don’t know why, my speedball ink always gets really clumpy and it annoys me so I switched back to the Daler Rowney and just tried some different nibs and found one that flowed better on this paper. I KNOW the old nib works but apparently this paper and that nib are not the best of friends–the more you know I guess. I had fun drawing hatching on Mrawh, I don’t always do very much hatching with ink because usually I am watercoloring things but I had a lot of fun with this!
Yay! Day one. I feel like I got a bit over enthusiastic with the flowers but I had fun regardless. The pen wasn’t working QUITE the way I wanted on this paper and I am not sure if it was the pen, the ink or the paper so I will try different ink tomorrow.
As I said earlier I decided to do Kitty and Mrawh for all my inktober drawings. Here they are hiding from the sudden rain under a trellis. Kitty doesn’t mind the rain so much but despite being made of mud, Mrawh tends to be pretty wary of getting too soggy as he tends to lose a bit of cohesion which isn’t very fun. I am sure they will venture out into the rain anyway, which is bound to be an adventure for them both.
Materials: Shinola Sketchbook, Daler Rowney FW acrylic ink, crow quill and a brush for the ink wash.
