!!VOLTON SEASON SEVEN SPOILERS!!
I just want to break this down for a minute.
first we have allura and hunks votes, then lance. you’d think lance would pick allura and allura would pick lance right? if they wanted allur//ance to happen. but lance picked keith. he was super soft about it and he said that keith was the future and their leader. it seemed like it was a ‘of course keith should leave, duh.’ moment for him.
then keith picks lance. you’d think he’d be logical, keith is a hot head but he’s also not dumb. his choice could be who leaves. also his time on the whale with his mom taught him a lot. but he chose lance? not hunk or pidge or allura or even himself. he said some stuff about 'I just don’t want to spend eternity with lance’ but I have a theory.
we all know keith is bad at feelings, sure he’s better now but he’s still keith. he’s never felt anything romantically for someone before (not that we know of) and what if that’s why he picked lance? he wouldn’t pick lance just because he was annoyed, he wanted to get lance out of there. LANCE ALMOST GOT HIS SKIN MELTED OFF!? keith was probably feeling protective, but he didn’t know how to process it. so he probably just reverted back to the rivalry, thinking he was just annoyed by lance.
this is reach and it could not be true but hey, I have hope. and even if klance doesn’t happen, fanfiction is a beautiful thing and it’s how I get through a lot of my non-cannon ships and even my cannon ships when shows end.
