“Fucking bullshit!” Kuroo yelled at the TV which was playing the latest mutant monster movie. Apparently, King Kong using weapons against Godzilla was ‘cheating” as he so passionately stated about fifteen times in the past thirty minutes.
You laughed, tears welling in your eyes from both the lack of sleep and the giggly mood you were in. Tonight was the last day of your and Kuroo’s first semester in college which had a lot of emotions come up. Both of you silently agreed to make the day last as long as possible which led to both of you being half-awake, surrounded by blankets and snacks, watching what must have been the fiftieth movie of the night.
“You’re just mad the big dumb lizard can’t beat brains,” you said with a smirk on your face as Kuroo seemed to burn with the need to go on a rant about how wrong you were but sadly didn’t have the energy for it. He settled for glaring at you with the most concentration he could muster up before he cracked a smile. In the end, both of you ended up laughing, holding onto each other for support.
Warnings: technically childhood friends to lovers, forbidden lovers, it seems angsty but there’s a happy ending. (cause ya girl can’t do angst)

She had a pretty face, although Kuroo believed she’d be a little prettier if she wasn’t scowling all the time. She tended to only smile when the two of them made public appearances around the kingdom, eyes alight for commoners waving at them on the horse and buggy only to dim as soon as they entered the castle gates. He never understood why she looked at her compact mirror so much, doing it so much she almost forgot he was present sometimes, only coming to acknowledge him with a little nod when she snapped the golden compact shut. He really tried to get to know her better, all the jokes he seemed to tell only made her look more bewildered, brows furrowing up before she’d speak. “I don’t understand what you’re trying to tell me.”

“Hey, these were sitting on the fax- Oh. Nevermind. You’re not here,” Kuroo mutters to himself when he pops his head into your office. He opts to drop the stack of papers on your desk, though one sheet slides off the top and onto the floor by your chair.
He sighs as he bends down to pick it up, such a task for someone so tall who’s been sitting hunched over his keyboard all day. Though when he reaches for the fax cover, his face pales.
“AHH!”
You both scream, your head bumping against your desk in surprise as he recoils back a few steps.
“What are you doing down there?!” He asks, leaning back down to see your huddled position by the computer wires.
“Hiding from my responsibilities,” you grumble like the little cave troll you look like right now.
“You’re on break though.”
“I usually work through it,” you tell him.
Ding! Ding! Ding!
The sound of three new emails arriving in your inbox makes you groan and wince.
“Well, you have to eat,” he says with his most empathetic look, though in your grumpy state he just seems condescending.
“Why do you care?” You ask, narrowing your eyes at him. You’re not in the mood to deal with your coworker’s nosiness, no matter how cute you might find him on a regular day.
“Because I’m the one who’s gonna get saddled with all your unfinished tasks if you perish from starvation,” he answers, though his face softens a bit when he straightens his back. “That, and I haven’t figured out the right way to ask you- N-Nevermind.”
He goes to leave your office, but you quickly crawl out from underneath your desk and pop your head up to see his retreating form. You could have sworn you saw his face go bright red.
“Ask me what?”
He stops and takes a few goofy steps backwards until he’s in your doorway again. He struggles to keep his face straight, and there certainly is a rosy hue across his nose and cheeks as he clears his throat.
“If I ask you to go to lunch with me, will you eat?”

you felt your body awaken, opened your eyes and found a snoring tetsuro next to you. your heart was racing, your dream was horrible. your family was gone and all your friends ignored you, you were a ghost, watching over your closest people talk shit about you after your death. but it was just a dream, right? you gotta be sure and lightly grabbed kuroo‘s hand.
you shrugged when his big hand clasped around yours and you heard his deep, sleepy voice whispering. “y/n-chan, baby, did you have a bad dream?” your eyes were slowly getting used to the dark and so you saw his muscular arms move over your body to pull you closer to his chest. you smelled his musky, but sweet perfume and snuggled yourself into his body. “i’m here baby, it’s okay..” were the last words before you fell back into sleep, this time dreaming about your future with the love of your life.

you were turning around, again and again. why was your bed so uncomfortable tonight. your mind was anywhere else, not here, not in your bed, next to the red haired boy you loved so much. you were so stressed out. work, friends, sleep, everything was screaming in your head getting louder until you began to sob, sitting in the bed, your face buried in your knees. you didn‘t notice you grabbed tendou‘s hand in your emotional state.
you suddenly felt a warm hand on your back, shrugged for a moment, but didn‘t look up. he squeezed your hand a little and came closer, pressing his cheek against yours. you heard him humming one of your favorite songs, “starlight” by taylor swift. he let lose of your hand and used his finger to wipe away your tears. “everything is gonna be fine baby.” he held you close, listened to you all night and the next morning brought you breakfast in bed.
