call-me-rucy:

(I translated some really good pieces of dialogue of LS/SC that somehow got lost in translation… I want to keep it short, so I may miss some of them on purpose, including the quite epic title drop Descole does in the very 1st scene)

I think the time has time for us to pen the next chapter. // Well, shouldn’t we start? This new game, that’s it…

(Misthallery is a game for Descole too. 4th wall? He doesn’t know what you’re talking about.)

And a poor little by who predicts where the giant specter will appear. So, what now? I mean, what if this thing even doen’t show up?// And, the one who predicts that, a strange kid. As expected, the professor surroundings are full of puzzles!

(High expectations you had, Emmy. And now, I know you all love this quote, but read the original version, it’s epicness!!)

Luke, listen. We must keep clear head at times like this. Do you understand? We can only uncover the truth if we stay calm and remain rational. Do you think you can do that for me?// Luke, you want to know the truth behind all this, don’t you? Let’s go, Luke. If you run away from reality, you will never reach the truth.

(See, it’s epic!)

Arianna, are you alright? Is there anything I can do?//Arianna, we are friends, right? You’re not alone.

(Luke just seems closer to Arianna in the original version, they’re so cute…)

Thanks! Whenever you need a little muscle, you just let me know, professor, and I’ll be there! //Just a little of exercise and confidence! My uncle does martial arts and he trained me.

(Foreshadowing! This would have being great, having Bronev being mentioned on the very first trilogy game. More Descole now:)

I assume you’re refering to one Hershel Layton? I must decide on a plan of action for when he founds out. And he will. // I know, Hershel Layton. If it’s him, he will surelyreachit, “the truth”.

(Yep,you read that right.Descole used the exact same words as Layton when he talked to Luke.)

Mr. Layton! We have to help Arianna! We can’t just let this happen! Come on, what are you waiting for…? / Luke, calm down for a moment. She’ll be fine, I give you my word on that, Luke. Remember, you can only help Arianna if you keep a clear mind. // Mr. Layton! Arianna!! What will happen to her?! We have to save her quickly!! Let’s break into Jakes’ place right now! / Wait a moment, Luke. / But Ariannais…! / Listen, Luke. I will definitely save Arianna. And I will solveall the mysteries. Will you trust me?

(The professor lines are so cool… and how Luke saying yes makes their friendship grow, it’s so great.)

Why, of course! I wouldn’t miss it for the world. I have been waiting patienly for the perfect moment to make my gran entrance. The final act belongs to me. Hershel Layton, I hope you are prepared to play your part. // Of course. It’s a bit of a bother, but I want to see the end with my very own eyes, as I play my own role. Hershel Layton, let’s see if you do justice to that name.

(Foreshadowing?!!??? Please note that he says “that name”, not “your name” and aaaah?!!??!!! Also, JPN Des doesn’t want to go lol. I bet he had Raymond disguise as Doland until now.)

Descole, I feel like if I had seen him… somewhere before. But I can’t well remember when. Descole… // Descole. Who exactly is him? It’s strange… I get the feeling I have met him somewhere before… Somewhere…

(Okay, these are not so different but, I like the quote, okay? Also, the scene with Luke becoming Layton apprentice it’s quite long… Maybe another time. Let’s go to the interesting things: more lost subtle foreshadowing! I know it was similar in the US version, but it wasn’t in the european…)

And, it was announced to the public the great archeological discovery of the “Golden Garden”, which had been lost for countless years. Along with the name of who had solved the mystery: Hershel Layton.

(Noticed it? Also Emmy doesn’t talk about the professor himself, but about his name! Ahh!!! And to think I missed all of this until now… Also, I promise I tried to keep it short!)

Thanks for the translation! It’s always interesting to see the differences.

Curious Village’s ending theme isn’t all that grand compared to the others, but it has a unique and undeniably Laytonesque feeling. Simple and charming. Contentment at the end of a journey and wondering what the future holds.

Iris (Diabolical Box) is a sweeping, emotional ballad. A little sad, a little sweet. Definitely a story of love and memories.

Time Travel (Unwound Future) is a distinctive, memorable melody that starts off somewhat straightforward and subdued, but grows with power and emotion. A feeling of nostalgia and reminiscing over the past as you face the future.

Paxmaveiti (Last Specter) has a mostly sentimental and reflective feeling, yet a belting chorus, along with a section backed up by lively clapping followed by a bell’s triumphant ring. It has a feeling of hope and peace after a trial, starting fresh and looking forward to tomorrow no matter what it brings.

Mysterious Flower (Miracle Mask) is a bright and lively number with a bouncy beat. It also utilizes steel drums, giving it a summery, festive vibe. It has its own emotion, but less of a melancholy feeling and more a dramatic flair. Overall upbeat, with a satisfying, resonating ending.

Surely Someday (Azran Legacy) is very emotional and tender. Its notes are soft and somber, but its chorus is bold and sweeping. Feels like saying goodbye to someone, but promising to see them again.

Girls (Layton Mystery Journey, aka Kat’s game, both the opening and ending theme) definitely stands out from the others, though still a sweet and endearing tune. It has a bright, bold, contemporary tone. Starting a new day with excitement, facing trials and loving life anyway.

Even the ending theme of the crossover fits the bill, with its grand, pathos-filled orchestration, befitting for the dramatic conclusion of an awe-inspiring tale.
