#leipzig
Oh no no no, Last Biggest Cargo Plane……Bye, bye, bye…..❤️❤️❤️
I’m definitely going to Leipzig in a month’s time for this sad anniversary, and soon I’ll be posting a note about Napoleonic (and mainly Bluecheric) places and memorabilia in Wrocław (Breslau) in Lower Silesia, where I am at a conference, and on my way west to Paris via Jena.
The city where I live unfortunately seems untouched by the Napoleonic period (being at the same time one of the most beautiful and interesting places in Poland). It is nice, therefore, that our Historical Museum will exhibit a piece of particular value: the saddle of prince Józef Poniatowski (the only Polish marshal of France), the very one that he used during the battle of Leipzig (the exhibit will be on loan from the Leipzig museum).
(Photo taken from here; I disagree with some things written there, especially that it was a wrong political choice to side with Napoleon in 1813: I believe it was a good - even if doomed - choice, a choice for the modern world and against the conservatism and backwardness of the coalition countries.)
