Lola’s style is very different this season. I am not, of course, the only one who has noticed - seems to be a point of occasional bafflement that pops up now and again. She’s more stylish, sleek, clean and a bit edgy, not at all the greasy teenager in shapeless blacks and grays. Quite a distinct shift in a few months.
While it could be a consistency thing from switching between writing and production teams, I’m just making my own canon about it - I take into account that Lola is Daphné’s sister. Daphné, who was always a bit of a fashion plate, always dressing for acceptance and to elevate herself above her home situation. They were becoming so close at the end of Lola’s season. I don’t think it is too much a stretch to think that as Lola got healthier and less depressed, as Daphné too recovered from her ED, maybe Lola and Daphné would spend time together, maybe some days they would go shopping, and perhaps Lola would roll her eyes at first, but then she would come to understand Daphné’s keen eye for fashion, and might start quietly taking her sister’s opinions into account. Daphné might occasionally present Lola with a nice blouse or necklace that Lola maybe lingered over during one of their bonding shops, or she might help their dad pick a nice coat out as a birthday gift. Maybe they learn to go thrifting together, learn how to bargain prices down on cool vintage pieces.
Lola would still have her own distinct style with much more of an edge and a lot less pink than Daphné, she’d just CARE more than she used to and that goes a long way. Because that might be something they have come to share during their mutual recoveries.
It’s helping me, anyway. But I got nothing for the alcoholic beverages she’s been drinking. ♀️
